Last night Dame Helen Mirren was the guest host on Saturday Night Live and just as I expected (and hoped) she managed to turn the usually unfunny jokes conjured up by the SNL writers and turn them into gold. My fear was that the corny writing by the SNL writers would ruin the show but, amazingly, Mirren managed to make the jokes funny. To be honest, I wouldn’t say that last night’s ep was the funniest ever but Helen did make the show enjoyable and worth watching. Check out some of her SNL skits below and, in case you missed it, watch the entire ep in full.

I guess I would say that last night’s ep was cute … but, again, only because Helen Mirren is a brilliant actress and she really can do no wrong. What did y’all think of last night’s ep of SNL? Did you enjoy it? Which skits were your faves?

The best part of the episode, by far, was Kristen Wiig as the flight attendant during Weekend Update. I was HOWLING with laughter.
i was near tears during that bit, and the james carville bit. funniest ep in a long time.
Helen was the best part of the show…im not sre if its the fact they need different writers or if SNL has just been around to long, that thier running out of ideas…?
if it wasnt for the Weekend Update, i would have given up on SNL a long time ago
James carville had me in stitches and I thought two sides was a really funny idea…as always, execution was not all there. And I really enjoyed seeing more of the featured cast (especially taran killam…LOVE). It seems almost blasphemous to say this but I was disappointed by Helen. She seemed a bit stiff and they shouldn’t have given her roles with American accents…
Love love love her photos, haven’t seen the ep yet but I will check it out for sure. Helen is one classy fox.
