Kristen Stewart Is Up For The Role Of Snow White

Kristen Stewart may be still bizzy filming the final two movies of The Twilight Saga film franchise but that doesn’t mean she can’t look ahead to her first post-Twilight acting gig. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Stewart has been offered the lead role of Snow White in the planned upcoming live action film Snow White and the Huntsman. If she decides to take the part, the magazine reports, the iconic role of Snow White is hers.

Who’s the fairest of them all? We think we know! Sources tell EW that Kristen Stewart has been offered the part of Snow White in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, to be directed by Rupert Sanders. As EW has previously reported, this project has been heating up, with both Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron in “final talks” to play the Huntsman and evil queen, respectively. Stewart has long been at the top of the list (other names mentioned include Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, Felicity Jones, Bella Heathcote, and Elvis granddaughter Riley Keough), and if the deal is finalized, it will be her first post-Twilight project.

On the one hand, I love the idea of a live-action Snow White film. It sounds like they are going for a vibe very much like the film Red Riding Hood (which stars Amanda Seyfried and is due out later this year). I’m not sure that K. Stew would be my first pick for the role. BUT she is a very in-demand actress (just yesterday we saw the first photos of Stewart in the upcoming film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic novel On the Road) and casting her in the film will guarantee an audience will come out to see the film from the very start. I will say that she deffo has the Snow White look so … maybe this will be a good thing? In any event, it sounds like the ball is in Kristen’s court … if she wants the role, she gets the role. BUT, what do y’all think … should she get the role?

  • hmm… I’m undecided about the choice. I’d love to be pleasantly surprised. It’s too bad Christina Ricci isn’t so young anymore….

    • @steallabellaz — YES! Ricci would’ve been PERFECT in her day.

  • mabel

NOOOOOO she is soooooo bad at acting…and she is just so awkward in all of her interviews. what a classic story ruined if she takes the part.

  • Deanna

Ew, would it kill them to get a professional actress? I think she has ruined enough movies, thank you >.<

    • Daphne

  • C

I love Snow White, but as much as she could look the part, I have serious doubts on her acting ability.

  • Amanda

This angers me more than anything!!!! She is 100% the worst actress I have EVER seen on screen. I don’t fucking get this, Hollywood has gone so downhill. Snow White would draw out an audience with or without her, enough of this bullshit Twilight crap.

  • roxster

Are they going for an edgy snow white? in the original shes so innocently sweet and fragile, not traits id equate with kristen.

    • Mela

I was thinking something similar. If they’re going for a totally different, non sing-songy-happy type of snow white, she may be able to carry off the part. I don’t think she’s the worst actress ever.

    • krissy

Yes, it is going to be an edgy Snow White. The Huntsman is supposed to kill SW, but they end up joining forces and he trains her to overthrow the Queen. It is supposed to be visually bold. This Snow White isn’t a victim.

  • Ama

I don’t dislike Kristen, I think that she seems to be a very easy going person, and seems like a nice person. However-I’m not a fan of her acting skills. She isn’t a bad actress, I just think certain roles fit acting skills better. Movies such as horror/suspense might be better for her. Snow white-I don’t she even fits the character physically and I don’t really think that right now she would be able to pull of the role.

It kind of bothers me that actors/actress that are ‘in demand’ or popular because of one movie they are involved with(even if that movie was terrible) that they get any role they want just because of their popularity. When there are better actors/actress that look the part and can act it that don’t even get a chance. It’s kind…disappointing.

    • Ama

^^; Ack, It’s to early in the morning. Edit on this**’ Snow White- I don’t think she even fits the character physically and I don’t really think that right now she would be able to pull off the role’

    • krissy

You need to look at Stewart’s imdb page. She was in demand long before Twilight. She made Adventureland before Twilight too. If anyone was jumping on the band wagon, it was in the casting for Twilight.

    • Ama

I have looked at her imdb page, she may have done movies before Twilight-but she did not get as many offers or as much recognition before doing the series. She never did mainstream movies, she just did indie films. So I would not say she was ‘in demand’ before Twilight, she got roles-yes, but she was not as popular before getting casted for the mainstream movie-Twilight.

The Second part of my comment was not directed at only Kristen- But at most ‘famous’ actors/actress’ today. I only added it to my comment here because it did tie in with Kristen.

    • krissy

Ama, those indie roles are really highly sought after (Hollywood Reporter just did an article about the changes over the last 5 years). The directors of smaller movies are usually more passionate about their casts because they tend to be their passion projects. In circles of people who make high quality movies, she has been really in demand for a while now.

    • Ama

Alright-if you see her as being in demand for a long time that’s fine-I personally have never seen her as being in demand(Maybe it’s just because the movies she has done have never appealed to me?), and I only see her acting skills good for certain types of movies. However, that is just my opinion-I never said it was a fact. To each their own C:

  • truthyisalways

@stellabellaz–Christina Ricci is Snow White, that’s a great call.

I can’t decide whether Stewart as Snow White would be the greatest screaming hoot ever or what. I am getting more and more curious about what this would be like the more I think about it.

  • Shannon

She is an awful actress and that would make me not go see the film! Agreed on christina ricci though! I can’t think of any actresses really that would fit the part. Hollywood is full of beautiful people with no talent!

  • Joanna

I cannot for the life of me find any place in the world of fairy tales for Kristen Stewart. She is wrong on so many levels. People like Christina Ricci, Amy Adams, and Resse Witherspoon are all perfect to play the part but again they are all too old. I can’t believe that they can’t find a better young actress for the part other than this waste of talent. I hope she doesn’t take the part. If she does the rest of the cast better be Oscar level amazing for me to even consider shelling out the ridiculous amount of money it is these days to see this movie.

  • krissy

Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon are completely wrong for this kind of version. This isn’t going to be like “Enchanted” or something. This is going to be a bad-ass Snow White. The Hunter trains her to fight, and they overthrow the Queen together.

  • nicole

i mean this in the niceset way…but…

  • Shannon

How is she even a bad ass? She is a dud. Megan fox looks the part and could probably pull off a bad ass 1400x better than Kristen Stewart, and I’m no Megan fox fan either

  • Joon

A bad-ass Snow White. Hmmmmm… I’d nominate Ellen Page. She could play Snow White as a roller derby kick-ass princess. Even though Snow White was my favorite Disney movie as a kid, I will boycott this version if KStew accepts.

    • krissy

I love Ellen Page, too! Good idea.

  • Sigh… First On The Road, and now Snow White. I’ll be under a rock waiting for this ship to sail. Call me when it’s gone.

  • Maddie

Haha! They just picked Kristen bc she is so pale. Not that that’s a bad thing, but she’s prob the first person they thought of bc the pale thing was a big part of Bella’s character in Twilight.

  • babybunny

    Much rather Dakota Fanning. >.<

    • Ashley

Hell, I’d rather see Kathy Bates play Snow White than Stewart. :s There’s already been a live-action Snow White anyway that was amazing. I’ve seen it a half a dozen times and it never gets old.

    NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.

  • blaqfury

If she officially accepts the role, I’ll officially wait for redbox…

    • @blaqfury — LOL

  • roze

Selena Gomez? I’m not a fan but she might be a better fit than Kristen Stewert

  • WickedSandwich

Snow White was bubbly and smiley…Not brooding and awkward…FAIL !

    • WickedSandwich

And even if its an “edgy” version it still needs to be well acted..Every movie shes in its the character imitating her, she never seems different. Theres only so much lip biting and hair fussing Snow White could do before you’re hoping the Evil Queen gets to lay down a serious ass whooping…

  • Btw, Viggo Mortensen is rumored to play the role of the Huntsman and Charlize Theron will for sure play the Evil Queen!

  • Gwen

isnt this the chick that always complains about how much she just HATES acting ?

    • Kay

Once again I am a blown away by the ignorance about Kristen. No, she doesn’t hate acting, she simply has recognized when asked about it in interviews the pitfalls of fame. She has said multiple times how grateful she is for Twilight as it has opened many doors for her. But people for some reason love to hate her so they focus on the negative. I’m so sick of it, give the girl a f*cking break.

  • Sarah

    Ugh! Noooo!!! Not her!

    • Kay

yeah? wtf do YOU look like? Put up or shut up.

  • Cupcake

I think she’ll be great for the part & I’m interested to see what they have in store for us. @ Kay, well put ;-)

  • tara

ugh i guess…… she seems to depressed all the time to portray snow white…really??

  • Cupcake

To those who are saying she can’t act I know you have your opinion but I feel as though you really need to watch some of these other movies maybe it will change your mind about her acting skills (they are really great) and yes I’m a fan of hers.

    – Speak (Superb job acting as a victim)
    – The Cake Eaters (She did an AMAZING job in this movie!)
    – Undertow
    – In the Land of Women
    – Fierce People
    – What Just Happened?
    – The Yellow Handkerchief
    – The Safety of Objects

** and who ever said that the Panic Room was her first movie was wrong. The Safety of Objects was her 1st & Panic Room was her 2nd :)

  • ItsAlwaysSomething

I liked her at first but she’s got a bad attitude. You can act and not be famous. There’s a couple plays going right down the street. She’s very whiny. Why do they keep picking her if she can’t promote either? Is it because she’s an adult but still built like a kid?
I don’t get it. Those Twilighters are going to grow up pretty soon and then I’m sure we’ll stop seeing her. Go do some indie movies and stop going mainstream if you want to whine.

    • AJ

      Hilarious!!!!! Well put too…

  • Rachel M

Riley Keough would make a better “beauty” competitor to Charlize Theron. Sorry to say but Charlize Theron is definitely more beautiful than Kristen Stewart so that kinda loses the point of the movie to cast her!!!
