With just under 2 weeks to go to Super Bowl XLV we learn today that popstar turned actress Christina Aguilera has been tapped to sing the national anthem at the start of the big game next month.
We told you a few weeks ago that Christina Aguilera will be part of the Super Bowl XLV pregame festivities. But now Fox and the NFL have officially announced it. She’ll belt out the national anthem at Cowboys Stadium in North Texas on Feb.6. The performance will be televised live on Fox prior to kickoff. Don’t be nervous, Christina, but more than 153 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s Super Bowl, the most-watched television program in history. The pregame show and Super Bowl XLV will be broadcast worldwide. “I have been performing the Anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,” Aguilera said in a statement. “I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.”
On the plus side, Xtina has a very big voice and I’m sure she will do The Star-Spangled Banner justice. On the down side, Xtina tends to overdo things a bit when she belts out big songs. well, im pretty sure they asked her to do it the second time cause she did really good her first time round…but both times she sang it, Lakers killed it. it was probably thier best 2 games of the championships.

Come on, give her a break. You cannot discredit her talent because of what she does in her private life. She is one of the best out there to sing the national anthem. And as much as her last album did not do well, we have to remember that the music industry is not a place where success is easy. If it was, everyone would be doing it. She is talented and that is why she is where she is at right now. Even the most successful will have their many failures and through this, that is how further success will become achieveable.

This is a very good choice. Her voice is so powerful and the National Anthem needs to be song by someone like her who can send shivers through the spines of the audience as they feel every word she delivers.
