Hear ye! Hear ye! The royal wedding of Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales and his longtime girlfriend Catherine Elizabeth Kate Middleton (who were spotted out on the town in England over the weekend on their first official outing since announcing their engagement last month) is only 4 months away … but the official Royal Wedding memorabilia is NOW available for sale!!!

Britain’s royal wedding is still four months away, but the first official memorabilia went on sale Monday — a range of wedding china personally approved by the couple. Prince William’s office said the items had been commissioned by the palace department responsible for the royal family’s art collection and made in Stoke-on-Trent in central England, a traditional center for British ceramics. The three souvenirs — a tankard, plate and pill box — each feature the couple’s entwined initials, the prince’s coronet emblem and the date of the wedding — April 29, 2011. Kate Middleton and Prince William: How well do you know them? A quiz. On sale at royal palaces and a website, profits from the collectables will be donated to the charity which curates the royal family’s artworks, known as the Royal Collection. “The Royal Collection has been working on the design since around the time of the engagement — it’s a very fast moving process,” William’s office said in a statement. His office said that the prince and his future bride had both approved the wedding merchandise.
I understand that these sorts of ceramic souvenirs of major events in the British Royal Family are quite collectible and are much-sought after as soon as they are released … tho, I hear that items that contain photographs are much more desired by collectors. As you can see, these items only feature words and the official monogram of the Royal couple. Still, I can see the appeal. As a yank, I’m not one for collecting Royal memorabilia but I might want to get my hands on one of these trinkets. In fact, I already ordered a bootleg coffee mug from eBay that was immediately put up for sale when the engagement announcement was made … David used it for his coffee this morning. I’m not sure if there’s time but perhaps these Royal offerings would make nice Xmas gifts for the Prince William fan on your list? I can’t wait ’til the t-shirts hit the streets … I really, really want a Royal Wedding t-shirt :)

You know…I really don’t hate this. :)
Hmm…wondering where I can buy these! My mom loves all things royal. She has the dishes from when Charles & Diana wed, and has already expressed interest in purchasing the dishes commemorating William & Kate’s upcoming wedding. Would love to buy these for her! I’m in Canada if anyone knows where they’ll be available for purchase :) Thanks!
@Trent, I will be in London at the end of June, I will go on the hunt for you!!! For about five minutes I thought I’d gotten lucky and would be there during the fun-fest, but alas, they chose April instead…
its so bizarre to me thats theres actual official china (and plenty other official stuff to come) that gets sold to commemorate events, even though it does go to charity.
This is all hilarious. I actually saw a commercial this morning for a ring that is supposed to be a “simulated replica” of the engagement ring that Will gave to Kate. It’s aparently comissioned by the British Historic Society. The ring is selling for $19.90. If you wanna check it out go to royalring.com and watch the commercial for yourself. I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it. That has to be the tackiest piece of memorabilia to come out of this engagement.
@Joanna — OMG, I LOVE IT! Now … don’t judge me … but … they were selling replicas of Britney’s engagement ring for $24.99 and I bought one … so … yeah, there’s a market for this kind of crap :)
I just saw the commercial moments ago. The “British Historic Society”, I believe, does not exist, considering the payments go to New Jersey and all I can find online is the British HistoricAL Society.
@Joanna, that is HILARIOUS! I think I’m going to order one for every finger… Methinks I’ll have everyone fooled! HAHAHAHA!!!!!
