‘Skins’ Season 5 Releases New Promo Photos
Another look at the new gang

Back in July we got our first glimpse of the season 5 cast of the British TV series Skins (not to be confused with the MTV-produced US remake version) and in August we got to see individual promo photos of each of the new castmembers. Today we get to see a new batch of individual promo cast photos of the Skins season 5 cast — say hello to Franky Fitzgerald, Matty, Rich Hardbeck and Olivia Liv Malone:

As those of you who are familiar with the original Skins TV series already know, this is the third time the cast has been completely replaced with all new actors. Seasons 1 and 2 featured one group of characters while Seasons 3 and 4 featured an entirely different group. My guess is that this new group of characters will be featured in Seasons 5 and 6. After the jump, meet the rest of the Skins 5 cast …

Here are the new promo photos of Nick Levan, Mini McGuinness, Grace Violet and Aloysius Alo Creevey:

And here is a new promo photo of the group altogether:

The start date for Skins 5 has not yet been revealed but my guess is that the series will start airing again very early in 2011. Skins is one of my favorite TV shows and has been for the past few years. Because it does not air here in the US at the same time it airs on British TV, I have to watch the eps online. The show is so damn good, I cannot wait for its return. MTV is hoping to capitalize on the original show by bringing an Americanized version to US TV here in the States. In all honesty, tho, I don’t need a remake … especially when the original series is far more superior. Bring on Skins season 5! I cannot WAIT!!

    Trent…I watched the promo for the mtv one. It literally looks like a carbon copy of ep1 se1. I don’t see the need to watch it if they did the exact same script/plot. Only Maxxie is a lesbian.

      @g — Yes, many of the eps of the MTV version are complete remakes of the original British version. They are counting on the fact that most people in the US have never seen let alone heard of Skins.

    I’m still trying to get over the murder from series 4.. Shattered my heart in a million bits!! :(

    @HeatherLea_1340 and @Trent
    They never gave us any resolution with Cassie and Sid. But it would be lovely to find out about Cookie!

    About the new cast…I can’t wait to start it. I watched the British version first and will continue to do so.

  4. Rebecca says:

    It’s ended up being a great launch pad for new actors and actresses. I love how it has become a characature of life being a UK teen. It has a true grit that I don’t seein other shows.

  5. Aylee says:

    So excited. When is the movie going to be coming out again?

  6. Oscar says:

    Can’t stand soap operas US,UK,Mexico or from anywhere else.Dumb.

  7. LJ says:

    Trent…you should try Misfits, its from the same channel that did skins so just as gritty, def worth your time!

    Oscar, Skins isnt a soap, far from it!

  8. Oscar says:

    LJ,sorry to disagree. They are all soap operas that are run once a wwk rather than daily. The OC,The Hills,90210,The Vampire Diaries, etc…are soap opera since they take development of characters from week to week. Each episode is not a stand alone but a continuation of a saga or theme about the life of a set of people.Glee as popular as it is,is a soap opera.I watched one episode somewhere in the middle of the series and I did not know who the hell anybody was.Why?.Because I never saw it from the beginning. Those types of programs are soap operas style programs. You need to watch every program to be tune with the drama.

  9. Kim says:

    Does anyone know what the connection is between this cast and the one from the last two seasons? I know the link between season 2 and season 3 was Effy, but none of these faces look familiar. Maybe I’m just hoping if there is some kind of link so that we will get some sort of resolution about Freddie or Cook. God, I can’t wait for this show to start up again.

  10. Danny says:

    There is nothing wrong with soap operas, if they are done well. Just not daytime soap operas, I find them too slow and boring and there is no production value but primetime soaps are an American tradition. TV is based on serials, since the days of radio plays. I like Vampire Diaries and 90210 and Skins, they are good shows. I don’t get why soaps have such a stigma. I guess I should say I did used to enjoy daytime soaps when I was younger in the 90′s but I think the quality of them has greatly declined and they are a dying art.

  11. Portia says:

    ohhh i’m so excited for this. so. flippin. excited.

  12. LJ says:

    Oscar…maybe in america yes, but in england it wouldn’t get categorised as a soap, our soaps are very different instyle. But i do get what you mean, with the character and story development.but even if it was classed as a soap, that doesnt mean that it isnt any good, a bit of character development is a good thing!

  13. BCDanielle says:

    New Skins, woot woot! You got me hooked on that show, Trent;) And yeah, I want a resolution for the murder at the end of season 4….that was messed. LJ stole my line, but yeah, have you seen the Misfits? It is SO good! Skins meets X Men…sort of;)

  14. Hilda says:

    the one in the bottom right reminds me of Jal from Gen 1

  15. HeatherLea_1340 says:

    @Trent and @g-
    I don’t think I’ll truly be able to get over it. I was so invested in the love story between Freddy and Effy- I was borderline-obsessed. Freddy was one of my fave Skins characters! First Chris dies, and then Freddy.. If I get invested in these characters and after 2 series, one of them dies- I may not be able to handle it! I’m not sure if we’ll ever get a resolution, although I choose to believe that things happened for the best: Sid found Cassie and Cook got whatever sort of revenge on the psycho doctor that he was looking for, without any sort of consequences.. But for those of us who are deeply devoted to the Skins story, we know that not everything works out for the best.

    @Kim- I also don’t recognize the faces, which is disappointing to me. I love that Effy acted as a link between the first and second generation of Skins crews, and I wish they would have continued that with someone from the second generation.
