Miley Cyrus is 18, y’all …. and that means she is growin’ up. It also means that she is ready to experiment with new things on camera … for example, TMZ managed to get hold of a video recorded around Miley‘s recent 18th birthday that clearly shows her smoking something from a water bong (a device usually associated with marijuana use). Now, it’s not unusual for kids her age to experiment with things … but it is kinda unusual for a celebrity of her magnitude to be DUMB enough to experiment with drug paraphernalia on camera:
Miley Cyrus celebrated her 18th birthday by experimenting with a bong and catching a case of the giggles. The video was shot during a party at Miley’s L.A. area home 5 days after her 18th birthday. According to a source connected with Miley … the smoke filling the bong is a natural herb called Salvia which has psychedelic qualities. Possession of salvia is legal in California. As for the video … the source tells us it was shot by one of Miley’s friends — and theory is that someone stole or copied the video from that friend’s camera.
Yeah … I’m not sure I’m buying this “Salvia” business … but it is possible. NPR just did a story on the popularity of the legal herb among teens and young adults. What makes me personally suspicious that marijuana is being smoked in this bong is the very prominent appearance of breakfast cereal in the video (the Bush song playing the background is another red flag). Munchies are also usually associated with weed. BUT, whatever the Hell Miley is smokin’, she’s an idiot for doing so ON CAMERA! It’s clear she trusts the friend recording her and mebbe it wasn’t her friend who leaked the video … but in this day and age, if you do something like this on camera … it’s going to make its way to the Internets … and the Internets never forget. @Ama. I’m with you. Never understood drug use and why people do/have done it. It just looks stupid. Seeing a video like this makes me wonder how many regular teens are doing dumb sh*t like this. Their not thinking of any consequences – now or in the future.

People need to calm down a little! Yes shes stupid bc shes caught on film doing this, but come on, how many people haven’t done dumb shit like this and experimented when they were teens?? I know, not EVERYONE does, but a great majority do, and the smart ones get over that phase in time. I doubt that Miley’s hit of salvia is her death sentence, or even the first step in a Lindsay Lohan direction.
Agree 100% with Ama! It is NOT a part of growing up. It’s just the excuse various celebrities or whoever use as an excuse. Doing drugs is a choice, not a requirement.

I am so so disappointed in this, but not shocked at all. In normal circumstances, Miley can do whatever she wants, but since she decided to embark into a career where not only is she in the public eye but actually labels herself as a role model for younger years…that’s where it is very very wrong.

@Trent, Millions of parents smoke in front of their kids and are the biggest role models for their children so are they are so quick to point the finger at celebs or place blame in others when it comes to whatever bad decision their kids make in the future. Just because Miley does something it does not dictate what all her fans will do to be just like her. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that people are freaking out over this…She is 18 people! She is an adult, and this is NOT illegal. If this were a commercial or in a show I’d understand, but this is her personal life. And Trent Salvia is used in Mexican spiritual rituals as a rite-of-passage or to connect with dead loved ones. Let it go, or hell…try it yourself and you’ll realize that it’s not something that is usually done more than once or twice. Once was enough for me.
