Early last month we got our first look at the first promo photo released from the upcoming new Muppets movie titled The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made. Today we get to see photos of Jason and some of the more famous Muppets on the SoCal set of the film … behold:

I have to say … it’s a bit disconcerting to see the Muppets looking so … immobile. I mean, we all know that the Muppets aren’t alive … that they are just puppets but still … seeing them be manhandled is … bothersome. I’m not sure what I’m more disturbed by … the elongated sock body that Kermit the Frog has or the way that Gonzo is being carried around by his neck. I can’t say I’m all that surprised by the Miss Piggy photo, after all, if she were alive I’m certain she’d insist on being carried around like the Diva she is. I’m just glad I never saw photos like this when I was a kid … this sight of the Muppets would’ve ruined my childhood.

I absolutely love Jason Segel! Can’t wait for this movie
Omg, Trent – I am SO with you about the extended Kermit sleeve. My 7 year old self singing along with “The Rainbow Connection” just would have been shattered. I’m okay with it now, but then – man, he seemed like a real person on The Muppet Show.
I was going to post the same thing before I even saw what you wrote, Trent. I really dislike seeing these photos of the Muppets “behind the scenes”. These are characters I’ve known and loved since I was a toddler and seeing them so inanimate is really kind of heartbreaking! I think the most disturbing is the Kermit photo. The other ones can almost pass as not being a big deal – I mean, we’ve all seen someone trying to strangle Gonzo a time or two, haha…but the Kermit one is almost too much. Blah.
I think it looks like Kermit is wearing a green towel. Piggy should be carried around on a cabana being fanned by men wearing palm fronds. Gonzo pic is disturbing, he’s always been my favorite
BEAKER!!
Mariah Carey has always made me think of Miss Piggy… the world needs more divas!
I dont care what you say Miss Piggy is real!
Agree with Kendra. Excited to see Beaker in ANY form! :)
it’s been so fun to watch Ms. Piggy and Gonzo change throughout the years, Piggy especially though, her style is always current. SO EXCITED! MUPPETS ARE MY CHILDHOOD :~)
Oh they are real my friend… those are just their stand ins… but beleive me they are real!!!!
