Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum and How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan will guest star in animated form on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons and today we get our first look at Aly‘s Simpsons character. Guest starring with Saturday Night Live castmember Kristen Wiig, Aly will appear on the first new episode of The Simpsons in January.

When THE SIMPSONS returns with its first new episode of 2011 on January 16, it’s about to get a helluva lot better for the citizens of Springfield. Not only do Kristen Wiig and Alyson Hannigan drop by as a mother daughter duo that sweeps Principal Skinner, and to a lesser extent, Bart off of their feet. But Smithers (alongside Grady, voiced by special guest star Scott Thompson) will give Moe a much-needed lesson in acceptance when they help transform his dingy pub into “Mo’s,” Springfield’s new local gay hangout.

Yay!! This sounds like a fun and very funny ep. As much as I’m gonna LOVE seeing Alyson and Kristen as Simpsons characters, I’m really looking forward to the Smithers storyline. Turning Moe’s Tavern into a gay bar called Mo’s is GENIUS!! This ep of The Simpsons is not to be missed … I can’t wait!!
