Altho David and I were invited to a private event at the Ennis House here in LA (designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright) we decided not to attend and enjoy a more low key night at the movies. Because it was my pick this time, I decided that we would see Tangled, Disney‘s 50th animated film:

I have been hearing from a few Pink readers that Tangled is a great film so I was very excited to see it for myself. I am very happy to report that I agree with those Pink readers … Tangled is a magical, fun and very worthy addition to the Disney library of fairy tale films. Those of you who have read the original Grimm version of Rapunzel know that the story is only 2 pages long. This new Disney version takes great license with the story and manages to turn the tale of Rapunzel into a smart, action-packed adventure (they did a *great* job explaining Rapunzel‘s long hair). The only thing that I wasn’t totally in love with was the music. Alan Menken, the composer of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and more, was told by Disney NOT to create his usual big songs for Tangled … instead, he was told to come up with more pop-sounding songs. They’re good but not great. That being said, the rest of the film is just really sweet. Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi do a great job voicing Rapunzel and Flynn but Donna Murphy as the villainous Mother Gothel really steals the show. We saw the film in 3D and really enjoyed it. The lantern scene is just so cool in 3D. I understand Tangled looks just as great in 2D so, the choice is yours. I’m still very bummed that Disney is no longer planning on making any more fairy tale films after Tangled … I guess we can only hope that the success of Tangled will change their minds. If you are looking for a fun, magical film to see this holiday season … Tangled is for you.
Tonight, David and I have been invited to attend a holiday party so I think that’s what we’re gonna do. I’m feeling a lot better today so hopefully I managed to fight off the cold that’s been threatening to take hold over the past few days. Have a great Tuesday, y’all!!

i cant wait to see this movie!!
YOU TURNED DOWN AN EVENT AT THE ENNIS HOUSE FOR TANGLED? I have gone to such lengths as to lie and say I was getting married and would love to get married at the ennis house and have been turned down by them. Jesus Trent you’ve broken my heart.
@Valeria — Sorry.
Definitely agree with you Trent on this one (unlike burlesque but thats a diff matter lol) Tangled was definitely a sweet and fun Disney movie. Honestly growing up on the fairy tales, and now being 23 at first i was a little worried, hearing the first song i was thinking in my head, man this just isnt going to be the same but by the end, me and 3 other friends were tearing up and laughing along with the little kids lol. Definitely a good movie!
Ahh, I’m kind of jealous! I want to see this movie and have heard nothing but good things about it so far :)
Thanks for writing a review on it, I’ll definitely be checking it out as soon as I can(hopefully next payday)
By the way, are you planning to go and see the ‘Yogi Bear’ movie?
Just saw it tonight. Liked it a lot! The main characters are so enjoyable and likable!! But the songs seemed forced and a little out of place. Overall though, great film.
i thought that disney would still be making fairy tale movies after they made a statement on their facebook page.. :( :( :(
Saw this with my nieces Saturday….was SUPERB! I agree TRENT the lantern scene was great in 3D..I got a little teary eyed.
