Lindsay Lohan Surfaces At The Betty Ford Center
Settling in

Yesterday we learned that troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan had checked herself in to the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA and today we get to see the first photos of Lindsay on the grounds of her new home away from home. As you may recall, Lindsay very positively made the decision to voluntarily admit herself into this live-in rehab treatment center in an effort to clean up her act. And even if she decided to go to rehab to merely clean up her image, I still think her decision to check in is a very positive one. Today we see that L. Lo has settled in nicely and seems to be normalizing in the program:

Over the years, Lindsay Lohan has undergone rehab at Promises, Wonderland, Cirque Lodge, UCLA Medical Center and now, according to sources, the most famous treatment-center-to-the-stars of them all. The actress, 24, checked in earlier this week at the venerable Betty Ford Center, near Palm Springs, where she plans to stay until an Oct. 22 hearing to answer to a failed drug test while on probation in a DUI case, sources tell PEOPLE. A legal source close to Lohan says that although the move could affect how harshly the judge punishes her, Lohan entered the 30-day program “out of a recognition that she really needs the help from professionals and great medical care to help her rebuild her life.” The source adds there’s no guarantee Lohan can avoid jail time despite how well she does at Betty Ford or how long she stays. But even if the judge sentences her to 30 days in jail, as he has threatened to do, Lohan may serve less – or no – time because of overcrowding. Still, another source close to Lohan tells PEOPLE, “She’s trying to help herself and she knows the severity of this.” … Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, says she doesn’t know what the office will ask for at the Oct. 22 hearing or to what extent the stay in rehab will influence the prosecutor or the judge. Robison notes, however, that some of the work that Lohan will do in rehab will help fulfill previous requirements by the court. Lohan was ordered Aug. 25 to attend two behavioral therapy sessions a week, have seven contacts per week with a counselor for chemical dependency issues, attend 12-step classes five days a week, and attend four psychotherapy sessions a week.

It is my contention that even if Lindsay is in rehab for the “wrong reasons”, she still may benefit from the program just by merely being present there. Of course she is not going to get better over night … but if she is really serious about saving her own life, this rehab process will be a continued one … one that lasts for the rest of her life. After the jump, check out a couple more photos of Lindsay at Betty Ford — as you will see, she has already made some new friends …

It’s quite a relief to see Lindsay spending time with other people in the program … perhaps they can help one another battle their individual demons and come out of the program as better people. Despite the obvious dubiousness of the timing of Lindsay‘s decsion to go to rehab, I am still very hopeful that the girl may end up helping herself … maybe on accident. It really doesn’t matter how L. Lo gets better … as long as she does get better.

I love how she always wears boots when she has the scram bracelet on. We all know she’s wearing it so she shouldn’t try to hide it. Until Lindsey cuts ties with her enabling mother, I don’t see her getting any better.

    im losing faith in her.

Steffa-My faith is gone! She is so young still and has so much growing up to do. Shes bound to stumble many more times but as long as she picks herself up one day that is all that matters. I just don’t see that day in the immediate future!

I with Lauren. I don’t think she will ever recover as long as her mother is there. I would go as far as saying that her mother probably has a drug problem too and she helps Linsay score drugs. Dina was always saying how Lindsay didn’t have a problem, she never saw her act weird, etc… All clearly at this point lies.

I don’t really get why she is there either other than to ensure she stays out on bail and try and gain some favor with the Judge that wanted her in jail for 30 days.
Who knows what the Judge will decide on Oct 22nd or if she will even stay until then given that she can’t see her family for another 2 weeks

I feel like I have heard all of these “recognition that she really needs the help from professionals” type statements all before. She says that EVERY time she goes into rehab! Hopefully this will be different, but probably not.

Oh, and I think it is waaaaaay out of line to take, sell, and publish pictures of people that are in rehab. Lindsey is famous, but this is her medical privacy we are talking about. Plus, all of the people in treatment with her DO NOT deserve to have their faces shown. This is a private matter, and to show their picture is really awful.

I thought all respected rehabs have disallowed smoking as they have found in studies that people who kick all concurrent habits have a much greater chance of successful rehab. So if u smoke while drinking and drugging u will do better to rehab from all three. They r associative.

This is the every best rehab, that’s has worked for so many other celebs, she’ll need to stay for the full 3 months for it to be helpful though. They have rules there and if one gets 3 strikes against them they’re out. One isn’t supposed to friend any one person, you’re to mix around and talk to with everyone in the day room. It’s a great program that worked for me when I was younger then Lohan and I’m 10 years sober. If this doesn’t work for her, nothing will, so I hope she’s serious about qitting.
The group therapy helps because they point out the triggers & if it’s people ones around, then they must stay away from them for their sobriety.
