Earlier today we learned the surprising news that married couple Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman have been separated for some time now and I guessed that one or both of the would be issuing an official statement on the matter sometime today. And right on cue, here is the very short official statement from Xtina herself:
“Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever.”
I’m hearing that there is nothing legal about this split … no papers have been filed, no lawyers are involved … there is just trouble in paradise and Xtina and Jordy have decided to spend some time apart to try and see if they can work out their personal problems. I suppose we won’t be hearing anything new officially until either A.) the couple decides to get back together or B.) they decide to formally end their marriage. OY! I guess what they say is true, breaking up is hard to do.
I’M STILL SHOCKED! To be honest, I’m kind of annoyed with her because I feel like she’s a quitter. She released her brand new album in 4 long years, promotes it the FIRST week, the critics murder it and the media does, too, and then she just stops promotion and lets the album sink. She should have tried harder to save the album but I feel like she gave in to all the pressure around her and gave up. It’s pretty shitty – in my opinion – to do that to yourself AND fans. When she went on vacation a couple of weeks ago I thought, “You’re going on vacation when you’ve been on vacation for the past 4ish years when you could be saving your album?” But now I realize that she was going through martial issues and the last thing she probably ~felt~ like doing was promoting her album. Dayumnnn!
I hate to say it, but I’m not surprised by this at all. I think she was too young to get married when she did.
Chase, you have to realize that record companies are the ones that fund the promotion of an album. They are in charge of getting meetings with radio to convince them to add it to their playlists. They are also in charge of how many singles get released. If they don’t see the financial payback of making those efforts, they won’t fund them.
At the same time, clearly she was going through issues with her husband during the months before and after her cd came out. I dont blame her for focusing on her relationship. Family is far more important than popularity.
@CHASE – thats not really fair….its been said they’ve been having problems for months…that could have lead to why she didnt do alot of promo..and i wouldnt say shes been on vacation for the past for years…being a mother isnt a vacation..and she filmed a moive.
This is so sad. She was so in love with him, at one point at least. Poor thing. I hope they can both work things out.
I agree with Nicole on her point that Christina hasn’t been on vacation for years. There are some artists that leave the creation of a cd up to their “people”. Others pick the producers, the songs that will be demoed, the songs on the cd, the concept, the visual style, etc. Christina is very different. The thing i have always respected about Christina is that she puts it all together herself. It might take a lot longer, her vision might not be commerically successful, but it is always something that represents what she wants to do. She doesnt pop out cds like Octomom pops out babies, but she does challenge herself. That is worth waiting for, IMO.
@Krissy she totally had producers and a fierce team backing her up. Bionic was a mess even before it was released, MIA has put her on blast and Perez ripped her to pieces. She’s very arrogant and is rude to other celebrities. It’s a well known fact she isn’t very liked in Hollywood. Which is sad because she has enormous talent and I personally enjoyed bionic.
I am very sorry to hear of Christina Aguilera’s separation…but I have to say that I truly do believe Christina Aguilera is a lesbian. I think she has strongly suspected this about herself but just has had to go through the denial process many lesbians have to go through before they finally get to the point when they can walk in their truth (i.e. trying marriage to a man). The reason I believe this about her is that all the signs are there: 1) During her single days, she would go Girl Bar (a lesbian hang-out) and make-out with women, 2) In previous articles, she has said that she is an art collector and has many female nudes all around her house (obvious appreciation of the female form), 3) She said that, after just 5 years of marriage, she and her husband have become “more like best friends”. This is a very common occurrence when lesbians marry men. It happens because men just don’t do it for them…women do. 4) She doesn’t appear to be too broken up about the separation. Usually, when famous people split up, they let their pubicists do all the talking (e.g. Sandra Bullock), but Christina is already speaking about it, herself. I would say that this is because, for her, as it is with many lesbians when they end their marriages to men, the break-up of her marriage is actually quite liberating for her. Any of the factors in and of themselves can be explained as simple phases one goes through in ones life, but when put all together, methinks we are talking about a lesbian. I think she now knows that she is definitely a lesbian. My words for Christina Aguilera are these: Don’t be afraid anymore, Christina…life is too short. Walk in your truth.
@gabe – perez went after her, because hes too far up gaga’s ass..only months before Bionic came out, he thought he was bff’s with christina. his opinons are based on who pays the most for good perez.

@corymac- i would quite go that far. ive been to gay bars, and i have no issue admitting when a girl looks good, and i can appreciate the female body, ive kissed a girl before..but im not lesbian. as for her speaking out herself…i wouldnt consider that a sign either…her situation is alot different then sandras and so far not as public either. you cant say shes not broken up about it…your not with her behind closed doors.

Given the rough history Christina Aguilera comes from, I would say she’s done remarkably well. I wish her nothing but the best and hope that if she and Jordy can’t patch things up, at least they can be friends. I’m pretty sure that, no matter what, their little boy will come first and they’ll both make sure he’s ok.
so sad! though if they’ve been separated for several months, that’s prob why she decided to cancel her summer tour… and maybe why she’s been mostly MIA for this record… i still love her tho! hope things turn around for the girl!
She seems so genuine and passionate, and always spoke well of her husband and relationship. I’m sure it was a surprise to her that “something” stopped clicking between them.

This is upsetting, only because the two of them were constantly shown to be happy and were my favorite celebrity couple, but it is what it is and the short statement from Xtina is very respectable.
I think its a good thing that they chose to separate rather than full on divorce because sometimes after some time apart things end up working out (like Corey Hart and Pink). Also at least if they do divorce they at least know that they gave it a try before calling it quits.
Does anyone even read perez’s crap anyway? I mean Gaga went to him for promotion, he went to gaga cause he thought it would draw him more attention. IN the end it paid off for both of them, but yeah he favours her so much and way up her ass! Bit off track but yer…

@anthony — Nah, it’s a bit much to believe that any couple would feign separation in order to promote a movie (well, except for Speidi … and Xtina and Jordy are no Speidi). Especially when you consider how much the couple loves thier son. They may eventually get back together but I do believe they are separated now.
I really hope they work things out. She seemed sooo in love with him and wrote some really beautiful songs about him. The lesbian theory is kind of interesting, but I do think she’s into men as well.
