I was sickened to read about the little boy whose arm was broken by bullies b/c he was a cheerleader. A boy I used to babysit joined the cheerleading team in the 5th grade and also got teased and bullied relentlessly. He wanted to be on the football team but his small wiry frame (his dad’s Vietnamese), made him better suited to doing tumbling than football. He too loved doing the back flips. Interestingly enough, while the bullies were teasing him for being a gay boy cheerleader, he was macking on all the girl cheerleaders and getting their numbers! And then when all bullies hit puberty and realized he had the inside scoop on all the girls b/c he’d cheered w/ them for years, they started coming to for girl advice! Anyway, he turned out fine but unfortunately he had to learn to defend himself – mentally and physically – at a very early age. :( No kid should have to worry about that!
yay! at least that boy isn’t letting bullies get him down. i grew up in Greensburg, Indiana where that other young boy commited suicide. the people in that town are horrible, i used to get tormented just for having red hair so im not surprised that someone who may have a different sexual orientation was treated that way. why can’t people just accept others, or at least think about how they would feel if the same thing were happening to them? its so sad…. :(
that little boy is soo freakin cute. i personally think that cheerleading is more interesting with male cheerleaders. especially in college the flips and tricks and lifts are much more intense
