‘In Your Satin Tights, Fighting For Our Rights . . .’
The TV Guide

On Monday I wrote a post that reminded me of my love for the superhero character Wonder Woman from a very young age. Even before I became the huge Batman fan that I am, my first love was for Wonder Woman … in fact, at age 6 I would tell everyone that I was going to grow up and marry Wonder Woman (ie. actress Lynda Carter who played WW on TV). Since being reminded of the WW watch I loved so much as a kid, I decided to dig out my DVDs of the complete WW series and begin watching the series from the start last night:

I think some of you oldsters (like me) remember the action/adventure series from the late 70′s. The first season on ABC was titled The New Original Wonder Woman and was set in the WWII era 1940′s. The second and third seasons were titled The New Adventures of Wonder Woman and were set in the present 1970′s. I can’t even tell you how much I loved WW as a kid … rewatching the original pilot episode brought back all of that love last night:

Despite the fact that Wonder Woman was “for girls”, my parents were very supportive of my love for all things WW. I’m telling you, I haven’t watched the entire WW series since I was prolly 10 years old (the show ran in re-runs for a couple years after the series went off the air) so I’m very excited to relive my youth again :) I have more vivid memories of the third season of the series, mainly because it featured more robots and aliens and was very much like The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman. After the jump, check out video of the opening sequence of the third season of The New Adventures of Wonder Woman to be reminded of how amazing the show was and for you young’ns, to see what you missed out on for being born too late …

I converted all of my DVDs to iPhone video files but YOU don’t have to shell out for the DVDs in order to watch the entire series. You can watch all 3 seasons of Wonder Woman online HERE for free. There aren’t many things left that can reduce me to my 6-year old self … but Wonder Woman sure can. They really don’t make TV shows like that anymore … and that’s a damn shame.

No big plans for tonight … David and I will likely meet up with our friend Josh to help celebrate his birthday. Other than that, yeah, I’ll prolly be watching WW again :)

I LOVED that show as a kid–guess I just outed myself as an “oldster” too Trent. Only difference, is I wanted to BE her…

When I was little, I had WonderWoman under-roos. My mom had those HUGE plastic curlers & I would wear them on my wrists like her bracelets & play WonderWoman :) Ah, the memories!

I loved WW so much that I turned my Batman Underoos into her star-studded ones by adding gold star stickers… sad but true.

I haven’t watched them in forever either!!! I went to private school and in first grade got in HUGE HUGE trouble for showing off my WW underoos to girls and boys in my class… LOL I now have a first grader- I may have to introduce her to WW now… Hmmm… Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

@Candy, I did that too! and I’d spin in the front yard like she did when she turned into wonder woman. Oh I do love her so….

Trent, thank you for posting this. My friend Ginelle just mentioned Wonder Woman on her Facebook and I posted a link to this piece. My father used to think watching “giggle shows” would be good for me (i.e. turn me straight.) He couldn’t have known how important they would be at a time when young people were much more isolated from like others than they are now. xxoo

TRENT. We are soul mates. I WORSHIPPED Wonder Woman as a kid. My Mom made the outfit for me when I was a little girl. Of course I didn’t have the boobs to hold it up, but I would jump around in my costume, and I was SURE I was going to be a superhero when I grew up. Yay Wonder Woman, and yay Trent for celebrating her awesomeness.
