First Listen: Rihanna, ‘Only Girl (In The World)’
The first single off her new album, due out this November

This November, Rihanna will be releasing a new album reported to be titled Loud! and will be world premiering her new single Only Girl (In The World) tomorrow … but TODAY right here, right now we get to hear Only Girl IN FULL … until the powers that be yank the song offline. Read on for all the deets known about the single and Ri Ri‘s upcoming new album:

Rihanna’s next studio album ‘Loud’ will be released in November. The first single from the album, ‘Only Girl (In the World)’, is set to premiere online tomorrow (September 8). An exact release date for the album is yet to be confirmed. During a webchat on her official site, Rihannanow.com, the singer said of the album: “I didn’t want to go backward and remake [2008 album] ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’. I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna.” She added: “I’m gonna miss the [2009 album] ‘Rated R’ era too, but NOTHING compares to the album I just made.”

I understand that Only Girl (In The World) was produced by Stargate, who previously produced her hit club bangin’ track Please Don’t Stop the Music. After the jump, listen to Rihanna‘s new single IN FULL …

If the above embed does not work, try clicking HERE. My guess is that this track will get pulled offline very soon, so listen as many times as you can while you can. The track will officially debut tomorrow and then will very likely explode all over radio, all over the world. I’ve already listened to the track a couple of times and I really like it … what do y’all think? Is this another hit for Rihanna?

I like it. Shame shes gone off the darker route though.

The shoutingy bits remind me a bit of commander by Kelly R

  2. Rudy says:

I think it’s ok. I think the beat could have been a little better. I don’t know about bumping this on the radio lol

  3. ella says:

didn’t good girl gone bad come out in 2007?

  4. CHASE says:

I don’t know, man. I mean, I don’t think she’ll ever get back to her GGGB days… This song is OK, but the only advantage I see it having is that there’s nothing really else like it on the radio…

  5. Drew says:

It wont get yanked offline Trent. It premiered on Seacrest’s radio station. Its officially been released.

  6. Mela says:

Hmm…after the first listen I’ve gotta say I think it’ll be a great club song…I can tell it’s gonna be remixed and the bass cranked. It’s got a very cool vibe during the verses…I’m gonna say cool song. I dig.

  7. nicole says:

umm its alright. i dunno…Mela’s right, it will get remixed…and im gunna say its gunna end up with a BIG feature to help it out. but i dont think its gunna blow like the record label seems to think it will

  8. Anna says:

I think this song is AMAZING.

Then again, I am a big sucker for Europop infused tunes and this screams Euro dance party.

    Love it.

  9. BLaaOwW..! says:

Son, this beat is not only sick, but the vocal delivery is niCe, toO..! Loving the lower register! & you already know, this track is gonna end up a smasH! I’ve had it on repeat the entire day – & against my will at times.

I really wonder if it’ll live up or surpass Rated R. It debut @ #4 on the Billboard 200 & went platinum in little over a month in the US, then continued to reach platinum status in either 4/5 other countries… Not to mention the album reviews averaging between 3.5-5 stars; I mean they even said she created her own genre. It’s gonna be hard to top that!

    Excuse my tangent. Lol

  10. LaTigresse says:

I love house, electro music and europop. It’s a good song, lots of potential and really up my alley. Hopefully it’ll get remixed by one of those european dj gods haha. Avicii or Armand Van Helden my picks for this one.

  11. jas says:

it was pulled down but i watched it on vimeo, LOVE it

  12. Kevin says:

This song is weak…as is 90% of Rihanna’s ‘work’
I hope Kelly Rowland gets her stuff together asap before ignorant ppl start claiming Kelly is ripping off Rihanna

  13. herbs says:

why does she sound like a monster?

  14. Kristin says:

Eh I’m kind of bored with it.

  15. Rena says:

It’s catchy, it’s monotonous in a melodic sense, it’s just not what I expected from RiRi. I find her best when she sings heartfelt songs, not bashful songs which elevate her position lyrically. Songs like Te Amo and, yes, Unfaithful, are much better than this.

tl;dr too mainstream, too techno-like, doesn’t sound like RiRi to some extent (musically)
