Earlier this month we got to check out a promo video trailer for The Vampire Diaries season 2 but most of the footage in the trailer was from season 1. Today we get to see a proper video trailer for VD season 2 which features lots of footage from the new season … which looks like it’s gonna be very Katherine-centric:

The arrival of Katherine the vampire was teased for most of season 1 and, yet, I was still very shocked by the season finale ep where she actually did show up. I literally gasped out loud when she chopped off those fingers. In less than a month, The Vampire Diaries returns with all new eps and we will finally get to see the havoc Katherine will bring to the town of Mystic Falls. It appears that lead actress Nina Dobrev will be doing a lot of double duty this season … she’ll play good girl Eleana AND bad vamp Katherine … which should make for very interesting scenes with hotties Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and Paul Wesley (Stefan). The second season of The Vampire Diaries premieres on September 9. Who’s excited?
