Madonna Offered $1 Billion To Perform In Las Vegas
Madge in talks to do a 5 year residency in Sin City?

A new British report out this weekend is claiming that Madonna has been offered $1 billion dollars to perform in Las Vegas, NV for a 5 year concert residency following in the footsteps of other notable superstars like Cher, Elton John and Céline Dion. The report also makes the claim that Maddy is in “discussions” to seal the deal. HMMM … could Madonna really be considering taking up residence in Sin City for $1 billion bucks?

Madonna could earn $1 billion by signing up for a five year residency in Las Vegas. The ‘Celebration’ singer is said to be in discussions with promoters to establish a run of shows in the glitzy US gambling capital. If Madonna signs the deal she will be following in the footsteps of other performers such as Elton John, Cher and Celine Dion, who have all made huge sums through Vegas contracts. If the rumours of the contract being worth $1 billion are true, it would push 52-year-old Madonna up the list of highest earning females in the world. Currently, with an estimated fortune of £208 million, she is in fourth place behind talk show host Oprah Winfrey, host and publisher Martha Stewart and British ‘Harry Potter’ creator JK Rowling. It is not known if a Las Vegas residency would conflict with the ‘Material Girl’ singer’s current ten year touring contract with promoters Live Nation, signed in 2007 for a reported £80 million. Whether she appears in Vegas or not, the singer plans to keep touring and recently auditioned for dancers in London to appear in a proposed tour next autumn. A source said: “It’s going to be her biggest, most unexpected tour to date. She is going back to her New York City roots, with a street/hip-hop feel, and wants to make it a physical, dance-heavy set of gigs.” The as-yet unnamed tour – which is part of Madonna’s deal with Live Nation – is expected to net the singer in excess of £100 million.

As much as I love the idea of Madonna getting paid ONE BILLION DOLLARS to perform in Las Vegas for the next 5 years, I highly doubt it will happen. As this report also makes clear, Maddy already signed a $80 million dollar deal with Live Nation for her next series of albums and tours … which she has yet to release. That being said, maybe Madonna can do this billion dollar deal after she completes the terms of her 800 million dollar deal. LOL … I can’t even fathom this kind of money but for Madonna, it’s just a matter of saying yes and the deal is done.

    Oh. My. G! That is obscene!!!!!!!!!! But I would be on the first plane to Vegas to see her perform…. umm and then go again and again…. By the way Trent, did you ever see The Beatles Love in Vegas yet???

  2. CHASE says:

    Not worth it.

  3. Lance says:

    She’s still too relevant to move to Las Vegas.

    As much as I’d like to see it happen (if only for the chance to see her regularly), I highly doubt she would do this – at least not at this stage of her career. Maybe in twenty years…

    @Trent – Don’t judge me, BB.

    When she was living in NY, she took on a NY accent. When she was on England, she took on a British accent. What the Hell is she gonna do in Vegas?

    I’m not THAT fond of Madonna TBH – but I gotta say she is worth it. I mean look at what she has accomplished. As of recent though she is definitely not Madonna. I say this cause it just seems she is teaming up with younger people or producers who, with other artists, have a stream of hits. Confession’s was quite great surprisingly, but Hard Candy was terrible.
    $1 Billion sounds a TAD exaggerated, but she wouldn’t be far off for a deal like that. Considering Hard Candy tour went for say 18 months and grossed over $400 million worldwide, imagine what she gross in 5 Years in ONE place where the access to her is a little more convenient for people to plan ahead etc…

    HOWEVER Madonna is not a settler. I don’t see her doing 5 Years, perhaps 1 or 2 but nothing more. It will hold her down too long to tour world wide for future albums. But yeah that Live Nation contract would be the only thing stopping this, unless its a joint deal with Live Nation.
