Madonna, the reigning Queen of Pop, turns 52 years old today but the original Material Girl started celebrating with family, friends and loved ones over the weekend in London, England. But, before we get to that … let’s all take a moment now to send some Birthday Lurve to our lady Madonna:

It’s kind of impossible to believe that Madonna is actually 52 but it’s true … the march of time stops for no man OR woman. Still, at 52, Madonna is showing no signs of slowing down. Not only has she just launched her first ever juniors clothing line called Material Girl (in collaboration with her first born child Lourdes Maria) but she is currently directing a new film titled W.E. Add to that the rumors that she is also working behind the scenes on her next album and you’ve got yourself a pretty full plate. But, despite all of this professional stuff going on in her life, Maddy did take time Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. With her fresh complexion and taut skin, she would have been the envy of many women half her age. In fact, Madonna looked so youthful as she arrived at her 52nd birthday party in London at the weekend that some even drew favourable comparisons with her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes. Madonna surrounded herself with youthful companions for her party at the fashionable Shoreditch House private members’ club in East London, including her 24-year-old boyfriend, model Jesus Luz. Lourdes arrived with four of her school friends. The party, said to have cost £100,000, started at 9pm in a private dining room on the fifth floor before at 11pm the singer and her guests moved up to the roof terrace, which has a swimming pool. Champagne and vodka cocktails were served and the guests ate scallops, calamari, crayfish and quails’ eggs. The party went on until 4am. Madonna celebrates her actual birthday today and is rumoured to be throwing a fancy dress party to tie in with the birthday of her son Rocco, who turned ten last Wednesday.

Yay!! It sounds like a fun affair … I’m so pleased to know that Madonna continues to happily celebrate her birthdays … to be honest, I’d not be surprised if she weren’t too keen on marking each new year but it really looks like she is happy to celebrate each new year of life with the people closest to her. Madonna you are a true living legend and I’m sending you all the Birthday Lurve I can muster! Happy Birthday!
