Is A New Britney Spears Song On The Way?
Darkchild promises something will happen in "a few weeks"

Last week music producer Rodney Darkchild Jerkins spilled the beans on the upcoming release of new Michael Jackson music (which was confirmed just a few days after he blabbed) and today we are hearing from Darkchild again … but this time about our dear Britney Spears. In a new video posted online over the weekend, Darkchild teased that something is coming our way “in a few weeks” that will make Britney Spears fans “so happy”:

Uber producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins has just made fans of Britney Spears curious. Darkchild hinted in a Ustream session held over the weekend that the pop star will release a new material in the near future, saying “Britney fans are gonna be so happy in a few weeks.” Indeed fans have been wondering when the singer would drop her new song because she has been publishing photos of studio sessions but no word yet on any progress. It has been almost two years since she released “Circus” and more than six months since it was rumored that she would release a single on top of an album. Previously, Danja who is working with Spears in this project said, “We can start one way and end up a totally different way, I really don’t know.” He added that there would be “hard-hitting, uptempo, high-energy” songs in the album. Additionally reggae artist Predator Dub Assassins confirmed via Twitter, “Co -Writing on a track for Britney Spears ft Akon. WTF ?! What is gonna happen next?” Another mentioned collaborator is David Guetta.

HMMM … now, I should point out that there is no actual mention of new music to come, just that Britney fans will be happy in a few weeks. This could mean that Britney may perform on an upcoming awards show (like, perhaps, the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards?) or she could merely be announcing the imminent release of new material. But, it’s also very likely that Darkchild is teasing the release of a new song … perhaps from a new album. OY! It’s exciting, yeah? Considering that Mr. Jerkins, here, was 100% correct about the release of new Michael Jackson music, I am placing much credence on this new comment about Britney. I mentioned previously that if Britney were planning to release a new album this Fall, she would prolly be releasing a new single very soon … like, in a few weeks. We’ll have to wait and see what Darkchild is actually referring to … but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a new song. Woot!

    OOMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGG YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS I LOVE U BRITNEY!! U ARE MY IDOL! U ARE WHAT MADE ME WANT TO BE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY (By the way I totally understand she is never going to see this, but a kid can dream) AND I TOTALLY AGREE ty HER PERFORMING AT THE VMAS WOULD BE AMAAAAZZIIINNNGGG!!!!!!!! YES YES YES I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I HOPE SHE DOES. BRRIIIITTTNNNEEEEYYY! ok I am done type yelling lol. But I haven’t been to a britney concert since I was 11 in 2002 & now I am 19 & I so want her to perform at the vmas but I also want another tour if that isn’t too much for her but if it is I totally understand with all the work she did on her last tour but if she does tour I so want to go to her concert soooo bad! I hope someday I can work with her it be such an HONOR!

    I just ho-ho-hope its not penned by Lady Gaga!! I did enjoy the bonus tracks on Circus that she co-wrote, I think it was called Quicksand. It kinda should been on the album itself (same with Amnesia and Trouble). But thats all… Gaga had her brag about penning her a song & all that but thats enough.
    Whilst I would still want Brit-brit to lay low until early 2011 I don’t see that happening unfort.

    I reeeeeally want creative input from britney. Producing and writing. It’s what I loved so much about In The Zone and even Britney. It was Britney doing what Britney wanted. Whilst Blackout stands out, i still think In the Zone is probably some of her best work with the blend of genres she used.

    With the VMAs coming up Britney is of corse going to be mentioned. She pretty much made them into what they are now! There won’t be a single year from now on forward where Britney isn’t mentioned or teased by MTV (like last year) for attention. I’m not gonna hold my hopes high of seeing her perform, I honestly don’t think she cares that much for them after Gimme More and i seriously don’t blame her! But we can only dream she dishes out a great performance like Oops! back in 2000.

    As for new music – I wanna see her lay low that way she can tour again. Touring next year is so soon and may affect sales etc… Besides, I want a Britney album NOT released during the Xmas rush. I contest she loses a lot of sales from that busy period.
