‘Burlesque’ Releases A First Movie Poster
"It takes a Legend to make a Star"

Back in April we got to see some behind the scenes video from the set of the new film Burlesque, which will be Christina Aguilera‘s feature film debut. In July we got our first look at the first official promo images released for the film. Today we get to check out the just released first movie poster for Burlesque, which will hit theaters this Thanksgiving:

One diva makes her overdue return to movies. The other makes her film acting debut. So who’s excited about Burlesque, the hot new musical that brings together Cher and Christina for a sparkly, glamorous and wild Fosse-esque song and dance spectacular? I left off the latter’s last name (Aguilera) because so does the film’s poster, which we’re happy to debut down below. It’s full of hot pink and what I think is a lightbulb-adorned — though it could also be rhinestone-studded — title vertically separating the legend on the left from the newer star on the right. The film’s tagline acknowledges the distinction between divas, too: Cher’s side says “It takes a legend,” which continues on Christina’s side, “… to make a star.” Kind of meta. In Burlesque, Aguilera is a small-town girl trying to make it big on the stage of Cher’s L.A. club, The Burlesque Lounge, but first she has to put in her due as a cocktail waitress. The musical also features Stanley Tucci, Alan Cumming, Kristen Bell, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet and Dancing with the Stars winner Julianne Hough. It was written and directed by Steve Antin … As the poster says, it opens this Thanksgiving.

HMMM. I’m worried, y’all. I know with Cher in the film Burlesque has a bit more cache but … I’m thinkin’ this movie is going to tank at the box office. Considering how insignificant Xtina‘s latest album was/is I’m guessing that same uninterested malaise will infect her performance at the box office as well. Unless Cher‘s fanbase can bring in the audience AND Xtina is actually good in the film, my prediction is that Burlesque may bomb at the box office. If it does not open strong, it will completely disappear. Of course, this is all purely guesswork on my part but I’m still so shocked by how nonexistent Xtina‘s new album was/is … I fear if she can’t carry her weight in the music biz (where her strengths lie) then she doesn’t really have much of a chance to carry her weight in the movie biz. What do y’all think … will you see Burlesque when it opens this November?

@Trent I will watch it. Xtina is not promoting Bionic 2 weeks after it was released. The “Billboard” site wrote that Bionic is the best album of the year so far.

Xtina has an amazing power over anything she does.

Her first album labeled her and put her into the spotlight, opened the doors, but as she has said many times, she didnt feel liek it was hers.

then came stripped, B2B, and now Bionic, the albums that are satisfying and pleasant for her.
If Britney doesn’t even care/ know what shes singing about as long as it brings big bucks, it is important to Christina to put out there what she feels comfortable with and what makes HER happy.

Whether the album did great or not so great, whether the movies is going to flop (which i dont think it will) or not, we gotta give her props for doing what she wants to and not what her producers, and the public want her to.

    Go Xtina

I smell a stinker coming up =S! I think this is gonna suck pretty bad too Trent and I doubt anything either of them do will save this film and it shall suffer the same fate as Christina’s album regardless of whether it’s good or not! Christina + movies = Soon To Be Epic Failure =(!

I am a huge Christina fan and I will absolutely see Burlesque but I do have the same worries you do Trent… Just because I love her doesn’t mean the movie will be a huge success – if the good vibes I’m sending it’s way is enough though, it will be a blockbuster! It has a great cast supporting Christina (an Oscar winner, a nominee and Veronica Mars too!) so I wish it luck and will support it and Christina.
As for her albums I have nothing but respect for her choices musically. She makes music that is important for her and that fulfills her creative needs. I am always glad to go along for the ride. Each album is completely different than the last and she writes or co-writes most of her songs. Stripped was her first venture into taking more control of her music and Back to Basics is hands down my favorite Christina album. The use of real instruments, creative recording techniques, big bands and gosspel choirs just shows that music isn’t just about making money or the fame it’s about the journey and discovery it brings. Bionic is once again a totally different animal and it’s amazing and original and brave, although I do miss hearing her use her voice to it’s full potential.
She has in my opinion the best voice on the planet I just wish that mattered more than it does.

Well I’ll see this movie and about Xtina nonexitence recent Cd influence well, yes Bionic Flopped but it had a lot to do with the negativitity about the gaga stuff I doubt Burlesque will do as well as Harry Potter but I’ll do well. Xtina is not over she will come stronger I’m sure of that. The poster is awesome IMO is different of what I’ve have seen in other musical posters, I’m optimist about Xtina’s future in music, Bionic is not her end.

This movie will more than likely suck because this is the same plot that every movie like it has used a million times before. Cher is too good for the script as we saw in the trailer, and kristin bell is adorable. Christina’s album didn’t flop cause of the gaga stuff, it flopped cause she is a bitch who fails as an artist. She has the talent and the skills as a singer, but she has no idea what the hell to do with them. You may say i’m a bitch for saying that, but seriously why is it that every time she tries to hit us with something amazing she fails. Cause she is so full of herself she doesn’t want to take any type of critique. You can’t improve when you don’t see what’s wrong with yourself.
