I actually saw it last night at a special Creative Screenwriting magazine screening, followed by a Q&A with the director/writer, co-writer and O’Malley! It really didn’t disappoint! And I was sooo over Cera before this, but he was really hilarious and awesome in this film. There are some definite plot holes, and I was totally bored by the female lead, but the mix of live action and animation alone is worth it!

I guess I’ll be the odd one out and say I am the complete opposite of excited for this. I think the casting is really poorly done. Scott is supposed to be puppy dog clueless, yes, but also weirdly cocky. He’s supposed to be cute and sort of pop punky, and Michael Cera doesn’t have the looks for the part.

Ramona is one of the very few graphic novel characters (besides any book Ross Campbell has illustrated) who was not only badass, but she was chubby. Why the hell did they cast such a skinny actress for her part, and what is UP with her hair? I guess that’s what happens when movie stylists are asked to do sexy alternative hair?

Amazing book series, terrible looking film :(

The hot guy with the cigar would be Thomas Jane. If you think he’s hot in that pic check out his show on HBO called Hung. And yes it is what you probably are thinking about. It’s one of me and my roomies new favorite shows and the second season just started.

I saw this at an advanced screening at the Arclight. As much as I love Christopher Nolan and Inception, this was my favorite movie this summer! SO FUNNY! The visuals were incredible and the fight scenes gave me goosebumps.

That’d be nice, but I’d be surprised (based on trailers) if the ending was the same as the book. Or at least, the final scene.

I was at a good will store where Scott and Knives were shopping, and also on a bus that Scott gets onto / one Knives comes onto in another scene. I had friends as well who were at some of the party scenes and also in bars like Lee’s Palace.

Langley – I heard Edgar Wright filmed/edited 2 endings, and now we’ll be seeing O’Malley’s Finest Hour ending rather than what Edgar was planning. Of course, that means I have a very long wait to see the “original ending” when the DVD comes out.
Where are you in the movie? One of the parties?

I’m so excited to see this movie for a few reasons. One – the graphic novels are a lot of fun, a quick read and highly entertaining! Pick them up if you haven’t yet because you’ll definitely like them. Two – I was an extra in the movie and (even though I had my doubts as well), Michael Cera does a surprisingly good job as Scott! With the exception of the ending and a few smaller details, the movie is being quite faithful to the books, so if you like them you should enjoy the film.

So, I think its really weird that I know someone named Scott Pilgrim who I’ve always said looks JUST like Michael Cera and now Michael Cera is playing Scott Pilgrim. WTF! When I found this out I thought two universes collided. HAHA

I am super excited about this movie!!! I can’t stand Michael Cera either, but his casting in this film is perfect. As a fan of the books, I always pictured Cera playing Scott. And from all I’ve seen so far, the film is a nearly frame-for-frame tribute to Brian Lee O’Malley’s source material. Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) attention to detail has always been crazy. You should definately check put the books before seeing the movie. They’re a fun, quick read.
