We are just under a week away from the launch of Madonna‘s new juniors clothing line called Material Girl and already promo materials for the line featuring celebrity spokesmodel and Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen are popping up all over the place:

For the past few days David and I have been hosting our dear friend Tracey who is visiting LA from Detroit. Some of you may know that Tracey is mother to my beautiful godchild Zakiya, so we were really happy that she wanted to come for a short visit. We’ve been bummin’ around all over town just relaxin’ as much as possible … and last night, we made our way to Santa Monica to do a bit of shopping on the Third Street Promenade before we walked down to the Santa Monica Pier to watch the sunset:

Tracey has been on the look-out for Mr. Right but I think she would settle for Mr. Postcard in a heart beat ;) We snapped some pics, played some games and snacked all night long … ’twas fun.

I’m not sure what we’ve got planned for today … but I’m sure we’ll come up with something fun. Hope all y’all’s Tuesdays are going well :)

Michael Cera was joined by co-stars and celeb friends at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of his new film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Adapted from the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley, this new film tells the tale of a 23-year old Canadian slacker who falls in love with a girl and must battle her 7 evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. To be honest, I only had a passing awareness of the graphic novel series but I absolutely fell in love with the movie when I saw the first movie trailer earlier this year. I’ll be the first to admit that Michael Cera tends to bug the HELL out of me … but I was won over so entirely by the movie trailer that I am willing to overlook that fact and give the movie a chance. The film utilizes elements from comic books and video games to heighten the experience of the movie … it just looks really damn cool. I’ve since checked out some of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and I’ve determined I like them very much. The animation in the books is very simple but effective … I really like the cuteness of the books. I’m hoping the film will be as fun as the trailer makes it seem. A new promo video for the new Zac Efron film Charlie St. Cloud (due out in theaters this Friday) has been released that features Zac explaining to fans how all of those exciting underwater scenes were filmed for the movie. The important thing to point out about this new clip is that Zac is completely shirtless and wet for the entire duration of the video clip:

In all seriousness, I first watched this clip with rapt attention because I was so interested to learn how the underwater scenes for the movie were filmed … then shirtless Zac starts and talking and all I began to hear was blah blah blah blah blah blah. Yes, the shirtless is very distracting. If YOU would like to try and watch the video to clip to learn about the underwater scenes, you can do so after the jump. Be warned, tho … it’s kinda hard to focus on anything other than Zac‘s shirtlessness …

While we may have to wait until 2012 to see the live action version of The Avengers on the big screen we will only have to wait a few months to see The Avengers in animated form on the small screen. A new animated series called The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be debuting on Disney XD this Fall:

“The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” — Further aligning the strength of Marvel’s hugely popular characters and stories with the burgeoning Disney XD brand and global reach, an all-new animated series, “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” will debut in fall 2010 on Disney XD and DisneyXD.com. Beginning with the “Iron Man” and “Incredible Hulk” movies in 2008, the release of “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” follows Marvel’s overall “Avengers Assemble” strategy introducing the greatest heroes in the Marvel Universe through various content platforms, including the upcoming feature films “Iron Man 2″ in May of 2010, “Thor” in May of 2011 and “Captain America” in July of 2011, all building up to the Avengers theatrical film in 2012. Produced by Marvel Animation, the animated series features 52 episodes targeted at kids 9-14, starring Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Giant Man and Wasp — who form the Avengers, a team assembled when no single hero’s powers can save the world. The animation for this Marvel Comics cartoon looks like it took a page from the DC Comics cartoon Batman: The Animated Series. To be honest, I like the bricky square look of the animation. I’m actually very surprised that Marvel hasn’t done more to bring their comic book titles to the small screen. I loved the X-Men animated series and have enjoyed the few straight-to-video animated movies based on Marvel characters. I don’t even know what channel the Disney Channel is on my cable box but I’ll deffo be searching it out to watch The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Lindsay Lohan, the artist currently known as Inmate #2409752, will be released from jail soon much sooner than the full term of her 90 day jail sentence. It is believed that #2409752 will likely be sprung from jail in the middle of the night this coming weekend (as early as Thursday, as late as Monday) which means that she has to plan for her reemergence into the public eye. According to reports, a slew of Hollywood stylists have been put on high alert so that they can spring into action and glam up L. Lo as much as possible once she gets released from police custody:

In the clearest sign yet that Lindsay Lohan will get out of jail this week, several top stylists as well as hair and makeup people that Lindsay loves in Los Angeles have been put on call from midnight on Thursday through the entire weekend. “I am sure Lindsay will be sick of orange and jumpsuits and I definitely think ankle bracelets are out,” Phillip Bloch, celebrity stylist and author of ‘The Shopping Diet,’ tells me. “Knowing Lindsay, I expect her to emerge in some skin tight jeans and some uber-trendy layered top. If I had the opportunity to dress her [Philip dressed Halle Berry when she accepted her Oscar] when she exits jail, I would put her in a soft and flowy sundress a la Natalie Wood. It wouldn’t be bad to soften up her image at this point.” Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, told the LA Times this week that Lohan’s earliest release date would likely be Sunday, Aug. 1. But make no mistake, Lindsay knows very well that the 30-second walk from the jail to her waiting car will be photographed and seen around the world. This is why she is determined to look her best. Which might be easier said than done. A corrections officer source explains to me that it is the jail, not Lindsay, that decides what time and date she will be released, adding that it will most likely be around midnight to minimize the press circus that will gather outside. Once Lindsay is told she is free, it will take her around two hours to be processed. During this time she will be able to call her mother, Dina, to come and get her. After all the paperwork is signed, and her belongings returned, she would be free to leave. It is at this point her glam squad has its work cut out for them.

Joan Rivers, who is enjoying a bit of a career resurgence these days due to her fantastic documentary film Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, was spotted in Beverly Hills, CA this week with her daughter Melissa Rivers and her grandson Edgar Cooper filming scenes for a new reality show that the ladies are working on together. Joan confirmed the news of the show on her official Twitter profile, which at first I thought was a joke … until these photos surfaced. Here are photos of Joan and co. in Beverly Hills and her tweet announcement about her new TV show:

I’m doing my own reality show. You’ll know it’s 100% realistic because we’re filming every episode in a plastic surgeon’s office. / Yes-seriously! It’s called “Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best” and it will air January 20th on @WEtv.

I think reality TV is ready for Joan Rivers. To be honest, I hadn’t given the woman a second thought in the past 15-20 years or so … but I now have new found respect for Joan since seeing her documentary film. Love her or hate her the woman works really hard and has been working really hard for decades. Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work shows a side of Rivers that I had not previously been aware of and endeared her to me entirely. I know her brashness can turn people off but the fragile emotion she displays in her film truly shows how much of a softy she is underneath her hard as nails exterior. I’m not sure we’ll be seeing much of that fragility in this new reality TV show but I’ll be tuning in for sure when it debuts next year.

Woot!! How is this for amazing casting news … Broadway and TV star Cheyenne Jackson has been just been announced as the newest castmember on the hit Fox TV series Glee! Jackson will play the role of the new coach for the nefarious Vocal Adrenaline, taking over for fellow Broadway star Idina Menzel who played the role last season. I’ve been a huge fan of Cheyenne Jackson since his days as Sonny in the Broadway musical version of Xanadu so I’m really excited that he is now a part of Glee:

30 Rock’s Cheyenne Jackson is joining the cast of Glee in a major recurring role, sources confirm to me exclusively. What role would that be? Keep reading for the scoop! Jackson—who was a hoot and a half in Broadway’s Xanadu—will succeed Idina Menzel as the coach of Vocal Adrenaline. Jackson has been on a bit of a roll as of late. In addition to 30 Rock, he also landed a guest stint on the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. And now he’s on the hottest TV show on the planet. It’s worth noting that although Menzel is being replaced as VA’s leader, she’s still Rachel’s biological mom. In other words, expect her to make an appearance or two in season 2.

I’m telling you, Ryan Murphy knows what he is doing when it comes to casting … I love that he is very aware of the talent that exists on Broadway and is happy to bring that talent to the masses who watch his hugly popular TV show. I was very excited when Cheyenne joined the cast of 30 Rock but this role will allow him to really get exposure. He is such a talented performer, I can’t wait to see him on the show! In Xanadu, Cheyenne famously wore a pair of super short cut-off jean shorts for the entire show … I’m hoping Ryan Murphy can find a way to incorporate those shorty shorts on Glee. Trust me, if you’ve seen Cheyenne Jackson in those shorts, you’d agree with me ;)
