Marky Mark Whalberg, who made a name for himself in Hollywood by dropping his pants before launching a rap career with his group The Funky Bunch, was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. Here are photos from Marky‘s Walk of Fame ceremony and some deets from the event itself:

Mark Wahlberg was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame today, becoming the 2,414 star to receive the honor. Wahlberg next appears opposite Will Ferrell in the comedy “The Other Guys,” opening Aug. 6. Ferrell introduced his co-star, joking, “I first became a fan of his from his workout videos. And I loved him in the Bourne movies.” Taking the stage, former rap star and underwear model Wahlberg referenced his past careers and thanked “all the people gutsy enough to put me in movies.” At one point, he brought his nearly 2-year-old son to the stage, who proceeded to play with the microphone during the speech. Wahlberg wrapped up by saying, I gotta get this kid something to eat so I’m gonna go now.” Wahlberg made his film debut for director Penny Marshall in “Renaissance Man” and earned an Oscar nomination for “The Departed.” Other films include “Max Payne,” “The Perfect Storm” and “The Italian Job.” He also serves as executive producer on the HBO series “Entourage,” “In Treatment,” “How to Make it in America” and the upcoming “Boardwalk Empire.”

It just goes to show you how far a career in underwear modeling can take you. Marky made it a point to publicly thank Penny Marshall for casting him in his first film … were it not for her, he might never have gotten to the point where he became worthy of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Marky‘s acting career … the first film I ever took note of him as an actor was The Perfect Storm and I understand he turned in a pretty fantastic performance in The Departed … but I’ve seen more than enough terrible films overshadow his few good ones. BUT, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is not really in the biz of honoring the most talented folks in Hollywood … still, it is an honor nonetheless. I suppose congratulations are in order for Mr. Whalberg … I mean, right?

At last … the killer has shown his face on the set of Scream 4. Of course, that face is covered by the now iconic ghostface mask but still … he’s back:

This behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Scream 4 showed up in a Flickr account belonging to director Wes Craven along with the caption, “He’s baaack!”. I’m not sure if we should read too much into the caption but it seems to suggest that the killer will be male. HMMMM. As you may recall, we heard last month that the ghostface killer mask would be getting an upgrade for Scream 4 … but thus far it seems to be the same ol’ mask we know and love. The mask first surfaced on the Scream 4 set a couple of weeks ago … and then it started popping up all over the fictional town of Westboro shortly thereafter. One of the principal stars of the film was even photographed holding the mask … perhaps hinting that he or she might turn out to be the killer. But, if Craven‘s comment regarding the mask is to be taken seriously, then the Scream 4 killer will be a HE. HMMMM. I’m not even gonna bother to venture a guess at this point … I’m just gonna keep enjoying these fun photos as they keep making their way to the Internets.

Lindsay Lohan, the artist currently known as Inmate #2409752, had her yesterday brightened a bit by a group of visitors who came to spend time with her at her current home at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA. While I’m pretty sure that #2409752 was prolly MORE excited by the load of snacks and packages she received the day prior, I’ll bet she was happy to spend time with her mother Dina Lohan, her sister Aliana Ali Lohan and her ex-girlfriend and current BFF Samantha Ronson:

As you can see, Mama Dina brightened up considerably when she realized she was being photographed (much like she did last week when she visited then) … Ali, as usual, seemed to shun the attention and Samantha was uncharacteristically smiley. Despite the fact that father Michael Lohan penned an atrociously hideous song for his daughter, he was not allowed in to see Ms. Lohan. I believe yesterday’s visit was the last family visit for Inmate #2409752 before she gets sprung this weekend. Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, will likely be visiting L. Lo this weekend and then … she’s out. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been almost 2 weeks of Lindsay in jail … where does the time go?

There has been a HUGE shake-up on the Fox competitive TV series American Idol in just the past few hours … late yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres (the newest judge on the show) announced on her official Twitter profile that she has quit the show after just one season. Ellen broke the news on her Twitter profile and posted a link to a more lengthy explanation as to why she decided to quit the show, which you can read in full here:

Dim the lights…I’ve voted myself off American Idol. / A couple months ago, I let FOX and the “American Idol” producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on “Idol” and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.

Wow. Ellen signed a multimillion dollar, multi-year deal to judge American Idol but had a clause that allowed her to leave the show if Simon Cowell ever left the show … now that she’s out after just one year, I understand that Fox will still have to pay her out of her contract. Additionally, it is being reported that the next newest judge Kara DioGuardi has been fired from the show! Apparently, Fox wants to go back to the 3 judge panel and has reportedly already hired all three judges … and you’ll never believe who they are. Find out, after the jump …

Artist Jason Mecier has taken his love of pop culture and his love of licorice and married them in new art pieces that he created using on average 500 pieces of licorice. Here are art pieces created by Mecier of Dexter‘s Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall),Twilight star Taylor Lautner, A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Freddy Kruger (played by Robert Englund) and Showgirls‘s Nomi Malone (played by Elizabeth Berkley):

I understand Mecier‘s licorice of choice is Red Vines and each one of his artworks is worth about $2,000. These pieces and others will be exhibited in San Francisco at an art show Mecier is doing with fellow artist Adam J. Ansell … the show is called We Like to Watch TV. I have to say, I’m quite impressed with his work … these pieces are fantastic. Licorice is one of my fave candies so … I might have to pass on shelling out for any of these pieces. My fear is one night I’ll mistakenly eat Taylor Lautner … which shouldn’t sound as dirty as it does. I love these pieces, don’t you?

Last weekend we read a report that claims that Mischa Barton has given up drinking alcohol for good … and today we get to see the fruits of that decision. The newly sober Mischa was spotted out and about last night wearing an outfit that, IMHO, looks like only a drunken or blind woman would ever deign to wear in public … behold:

Mischa Barton was spotted out and about in London last night with a oddly-ventilated outfit. Her patterned dress should have been pretty and elegant with it’s high collar and demure hemline, but bizarrely it had big gaping holes above and below the chest. It featured large cut-out areas, making the outfit look like a bandeau bikini attached to a skirt. However, the actress, 24, managed to carry off the dress, designed by Miu Miu, with aplomb – matching her red lipstick to the red bird motif of the fabric and toning the outfit down with some plain round-toed court shoes. Mischa spent an evening with friends at a Kensington pub before heading out to get some snacks at a pizza takeaway.

Yeah, this outfit makes no sense to me but … as long as the girl is sober, I guess I can forgive her hideous sense of fashion. I’m not sure why Mischa had to party with her friends at a pub if she’s newly sober but … I guess Hollywood “It” Girls will be Hollywood “It” Girls. So … this outfit … what do YOU think?

Last week we saw photos of Madonna, the director, making her exit from the London set of her new film W.E. and today we learn that her Madgesty has moved production of the film to Cannes, France. Just yesterday we saw photos of Madonna helming the photoshoot for the new ad campaign for her juniors clothing line Material Girl and now we see more photos of Maddy in charge. Work Work Work … Madonna is always workin’. I honestly can’t wait to see how this latest endeavor turns out.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who spent part of his week holidaying with his bros rather than staying home to take care of his newborn son, has made his way back to the US this week to begin training for his upcoming soccer season with Real Madrid. As you may recall, Cristiano spent some time here in the US late last year … and ended up getting a waitress pregnant with his child. I wonder what sort of shenanigans homie might get himself into this time around:

Real Madrid’s Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo cut short his holidays by one day and started training on Tuesday under the club’s new manager Jose Mourinho for the first time before the team heads to the United States. During Tuesday’s training session the Portuguese coach divided the players into two teams to play two practice games. The team will head to California on Wednesday morning for a pre-season training camp where they will remain until August 7. Several other of Real Madrid internationals who took part in the World Cup in South Africa will meet up with the squad in California, such as Brazil’s Kaka, who will arrive on Saturday. Portuguese defender Pepe on Monday became the first Real Madrid international who took part in the tournament to have resumed training with the Spanish club. Ronaldo, the world’s most expensive player whose transfer to Real from Manchester United in cost the club 94 million euros in June 2009, failed to shine for Portugal during the World Cup. The 25-year-old announced shortly after the final of the tournament which was won by Spain that he had become a father in June but refused to reveal who the mother of the baby boy is, sparking a media frenzy. Real will play two pre-season friendlies while in California. The club will face Mexican side Aguilas de America in San Francisco on August 4 and US side LA Galaxy in Los Angeles three days later.

As you may recall, Ronaldo managed to convince the American woman reported to be his babymama to have sex with him by using the line, You, me, Fuck, Fuck. I wonder if he’ll be using such sweet words on the American ladies he meets on this latest visit to the states.
