Yesterday we learned that Lindsay Lohan met up with a new lawyer named Stuart V. Goldberg over the weekend in the hopes of hiring him to represent her in her on-going legal troubles stemming from her 2007 DUI conviction. As you may recall, Lindsay was sentenced to spend 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab for violating the terms of her DUI conviction probation and just 2 days later her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley quit as her lawyer. This left Lindsay in need of a new lawyer. It turns out that the new guy didn’t work out because the matter of payment couldn’t be worked out … and because Lindsay is still lawyerless, Judge Marsha Revel has ordered that Holley MUST remain her lawyer until a new lawyer can be found:

From TMZ: TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan’s new lawyer isn’t her new lawyer anymore … people connected with him say it’s because he wouldn’t work for free … but we’re hearing a very different story. Stuart V. Goldberg met with Lindsay, Dina and Ali on Friday night and it was a done deal, until he got a call over the weekend from Lindsay’s business manager, Lou Taylor, who said they just couldn’t afford him … this is all according to Goldberg’s camp. But on the Lindsay side, it’s a whole other story. Let’s just say that even Dina and Lindsay decided Goldberg was … how do we say it nicely … a little eccentric.
From Page Six: There’s more drama in the Lindsay Lohan camp. Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley — who quit following Tuesday’s hearing where Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail — has been told by Judge Marsha Revel that she cannot leave the case. A source told us, “The judge told Holley she can’t quit and leave Lindsay without representation. She has to stay on the case until Lindsay has a substitution of attorney filed with the court.” The source added Holley was frustrated with Lohan because “she won’t take or follow advice. She is not returning calls, and so they haven’t been able to set up meetings with her and a psychologist for her court-ordered psychiatric evaluation.” So unless Lindsay starts complying with Holley, or finds a new lawyer in the next few days, her chances of appealing her sentence look thin. A rep for Holley declined to comment.
OMG … why does NONE of this surprise me at all?! Lindsay‘s life is so full of drama … 24/7 … this back and forth with all the lawyers just seems par for the course. TMZ is also reporting that Lindsay is hoping to retain famed defense attorney Robert Shapiro as her new lawyer. You may know that Shapiro is the legal eagle who successfully got OJ Simpson acquitted of murdering his wife. I don’t know that Robert Shapiro takes on many nonpaying clients but he does strike me as a guy who likes a challenge … and it don’t get more broke AND challenging as Lindsay Lohan. We shall see. I bet Shawn Chapman Holley is PRAYING Shapiro or some other lawyer signs on as Lindsay‘s lawyer … something tells me she does not want to go back to court in front of Judge Revel on L. Lo‘s behalf.

Her original attorney must be going nuts!!! LOL…forced back to Lohan is nothing short of hell!!!
For one second I felt sorry for Chapman Holley, but then it occurred to me since she was willing to accept a broke, unstable, substance abusing Hollywood starlet as a client in the first place, she should have expected the drama and crazy to snowball.
They MAKE her go back? Why not just give her a public defender? Personally, I wouldn’t want to be represented by someone that I know doesn’t want to be there, for fear they’d just half-ass it.
I think she may re-think trying to get Robert Shapiro to take on her case, b/c his son died due to drugs… he will not want her to not get help or take responsibility. The Shapiro family has a foundation set up in his name actually for this… maybe he can snap some sense into Lindsay finally…. do your time, get some help, get off all the ‘script meds your on and then get your life and your career back on track. Maybe he’s exactly what she needs – a little tough love that the Lohan trainwreck ‘rents can’t provide!
P.S. Happy Birthday Trent!!!!!! xoxo
