Yesterday we learned the news that the powers that be in charge of casting the upcoming Joss Whedon film The Avengers decided to fire Edward Norton as The Hulk and have decided to recast the part with someone they feel would be more “collaborative” with the growing ensemble cast. The implication of the statement regarding Norton‘s firing has been construed by many as suggesting that he was let go because of his difficult work ethic. Today we hear from Norton‘s agent, Brian Swardstrom, who is firing back with a statement of his own denouncing the Marvel statement and offering Edward Norton‘s side of what went down … read on:

In what is turning out to be a dramatic parting of the ways, Edward Norton’s agent has issued a statement to HitFix after Marvel Studios confirmed the Academy Award nominee would not return as Bruce Banner in “The Avengers.” As HitFix broke exclusively on Friday, Marvel Studios is going in a new direction for the Hulk, replacing Norton who starred in 2008′s “The Incredible Hulk” … Marvel indicated their decision was not about salary, as sources had indicated to HitFix originally,, but “instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members.” Brian Swardstrom of WME responds with the following:

“This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light. Here are the facts: two months ago, Kevin called me and said he wanted Edward to reprise the role of Bruce Banner in The Avengers. He told me it would be his fantasy to bring Edward on stage with the rest of the cast at ComiCon and make it the event of the convention. When I said that Edward was definitely open to this idea, Kevin was very excited and we agreed that Edward should meet with Joss Whedon to discuss the project. Edward and Joss had a very good meeting (confirmed by Feige to me) at which Edward said he was enthusiastic at the prospect of being a part of the ensemble cast. Marvel subsequently made him a financial offer to be in the film and both sides started negotiating in good faith. This past Wednesday, after several weeks of civil, uncontentious discussions, but before we had come to terms on a deal, a representative from Marvel called to say they had decided to go in another direction with the part. This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings. We know a lot of fans have voiced their public disappointment with this result, but this is no excuse for Feige’s mean spirited, accusatory comments. Counter to what Kevin implies here, Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in the Avengers cast, many of whom are personal friends of his. Feige’s statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel’s fans. There is no official statement from Edward Norton at this time, but he is expected to comment on the matter eventually.

And there you have it … and they said / he said situation is now brewing publicly over a simple matter of a gamma radiated green superhero and who is going to play him in The Avengers. Naturally, each side is going to argue their position in order to find favor in the public eye but none of it really matters when you get right down to it. Unless the opposing sides can agree to work together, Marvel will have the final say on who will play The Hulk. IMHO, I have to say it seems silly and not very smart of Marvel to be releasing disparaging statements about actors that they choose not to work with. Even if Edward Norton is the worst possible person to work with, airing the dirty laundry seems childish and wrong. But, again, it is Marvel’s prerogative to cast whoever they want in the role.

That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the opposing sides ended up coming to an agreement of some sort somewhere down the line. It may sound like Edward Norton will not play The Hulk in The Avengers but … then again, he just may. What do y’all think of all this public fighting? Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgård, who have been quite the hot little item in the past few months, did a bit of shopping together this weekend … from picking up groceries at Gelson’s to perusing the luxury items at Burberry, Bosgård seems to be going very strong:

Last week we got our first look at Sandra Bullock and her baby boy Louis Bardo out and about in public for the first time since we heard that she adopted him earlier this year. Today we get to check out the CUTEST photo ever of Sandra and Louis at the airport as mother and son made their way to LA:

Precious cargo alert! After spending some down time in Texas, Sandra Bullock was spotted Saturday at an airport in Austin with baby Louis en route to Los Angeles. The duo were on their way to California where Bullock, 45, attended a funeral for Rebecca Spikings-Goldsman, the wife of producer Akiva Goldsman who wrote the screenplay for the actress’s 1996 film A Time to Kill.

I can’t even take it … the level of adorableness is enough to make my head EXPLODE! I mean … Louis Bardo … what a precious, precious baby boy. I’m so glad to hear that Sandra is making her way back to LA … I just wish it was under happier circumstances. I’m really looking forward to her return to acting. In the meantime, tho, I’m quite content to see just marvel at her new role as mommy.

Kylie Minogue, who just scored her 5th #1 album in the UK making her the first artist to have a #1 album in the 80s, the 90s, the 00s and the 10s, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Out magazine. Kylie reveals how much of a labor of love her North American tour last Fall was for her, especially since she lost a fortune of her own money just to tour here. Pop princess Kylie Minogue first broke onto the American scene in 1988 covering the 1962 Little Eva hit “The Loco-Motion.” But only a year later it seemed the Australian-born newcomer would go down in American pop history as a one-hit wonder. Undaunted by her lack of traction in the U.S., Minogue pressed on, creating an ever-expanding empire overseas. Nearly 15 years later, she broke through to the Billboard Top 10 with the international smash hit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” and Minogue has been going nonstop ever since. I had heard that Kylie lost money funding her North American tour but the fact that she did so happily only endears her all the more to me and I’m sure a great many other fans. I can honestly say that I have been a Kylie Minogue fan since 1988. I remember riding my bike to the neighborhood Woolworth’s and buying her debut album on cassette tape (in one of those heinous and large plastic anti-theft cases) and taking it home and falling in love. I played that album to death on my boombox … and I spent the next 22 years searching out all of her albums. I used to have to drive 40 miles to a Harmony House record store in Berkley, MI to buy her albums from the import bin … and just last week, my Japanese version of Aphrodite arrived from HMV Japan. It was a thrill getting to see Kylie live in concert for the first time ever at the O2 Arena in London a couple of years ago … but it was even more thrilling to see her up-close and personal at the 4 US shows of her For You, For Me North American Tour last Fall. It has been a couple of years since we’ve checked in an all of Kevin Federline‘s children, including his eldest children from his pre-Britney Spears dalliance with actress Shar Jackson. We’ve been keeping abreast of his children with Britney (Sean Preston and Jayden James) on a regular basis but haven’t really heard from or seen his kids with Shar (Kori Madison and Kaleb Michael). Today we get to check out a batch of photos of K-Fed with all 4 of his children enjoying a playdate here in SoCal together over the weekend … behold:

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline looks to have lost the battle of the bulge once again. Despite a recent stint on reality TV show Celebrity Fit Club where the back-up dancer managed to drop over two stone, Federline appears to have gained back a lot of the weight again. Federline was spotted Saturday with his girlfriend Victoria Prince, taking his four children to the park in Chatsworth, California. Federline, who was dressed in his usual outfit of extra-large baggy white T-shirt and long shorts, was bloated in the face and was obviously carrying a lot of extra baggage around the stomach area. Federline previously blamed his weight gain on depression following his split from Spears, with whom he has two sons, Sean Preston, 4 and Jayden James, 3 … Shar Jackson, Federline’s ex-fiancée, and mother of his two other children, Kori, 7 and Kaleb, 5 appeared alongside Federline on Fit Club, which made for some dramatic moments. Jackson was pregnant with Kaleb when Federline met Spears and gave birth when the couple were engaged.

I’m just a bit shocked to see how much the Jackson-Federline children have grown. Kori is so big and Kaleb, man, I didn’t even recognize him. When last I saw photos of him, he was still a baby … now he’s a big kid. I kinda love the photos of Sean P. and Jayden with their Starbucks drinks … they looks just like their mama (bare feet and all ;). K-Fed may annoy the hell out of me but he does make cute babies. That being said, I think it’s best if he stops at 4 kids … I’m not sure the world really needs any more Federlines.

Against my stubborn protests, David convinced me to get out of the house yesterday to celebrate with some friends for a last-minute get together for drinks at Palihouse in West Hollywood, CA yesterday for a wee pre-birthday celebration. Emma, Josh, Jordan, Darion, Guy, Ollie and Adriana were very sweet enough to come out at the last minute to help me celebrate my birthday. As usual when my dear friends are involved, I had a blast:

To be honest, I’ve not been feelin’ this birthday this year. I mean, no one likes getting older (unless you’re 16 going on 22) and that rings especially true for me. That being said, I cannot deny that I am the luckiest guy alive with the most loving people in my life. It’s always a treat when my friends can get together to hang out because I know the coolest people on Earth … it’s so fun seeing them all have fun together. I can’t even believe how much I love each and every one of my friends … whether they are here with me in LA or back home in Detroit, or in NYC or wherever … I honestly love them with all my heart … because they give me all the love that they have to give. I’ve been getting messages all day long from all around the country, all across the globe from friends I’ve not even met yet. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for your wonderful wishes ;) I love you, I love you all!!

The plan for tonight is to head out to Disneyland. Even tho David and I can go whenever we like, I’ve always wanted to spend my birthday at Disneyland. I remember being an 8 year old kid in Metro Detroit dreaming of a birthday spent at Disneyland. Tonight, that 8 year old kid will finally get his birthday wish.

Over the weekend we heard that Samantha Ronson, former girlfriend of Lindsay Lohan, stuck up for her on Twitter against a barrage of mean-spirited jokes leveled at her by comedienne Joan Rivers. News of Sam‘s support shouldn’t come as any surprise to us because altho the ladies ended their relationship some time ago, they have remained friends. Just last night, Lindsay and Sam stepped out for a sushi dinner together at Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills, CA … just like the good ol’ days. Here is a photo of L. Ron couldn’t make their romantic relationship work, it’s very clear that both Lindsay and Samantha enjoy a strong friendship together. I’ve always contended that Lindsay Lohan was at her stable, trouble-free best when she was with Samantha … I’m not sure if the ladies will ever be able to reunite as a couple again but it’s nice to be reminded of the good ol’ days when Lindsay and Sam were in love … and out of trouble.

On Friday we saw a batch of photos of new lovebirds Jessica Simpson and former (but still-married) NFL football player Eric Johnson enjoying a little vacay together in Capri, Italy. It appears those photos were just a precursor to a fun birthday weekend for Jessica … which included a small party and a lot of smoochin’! Now that’s a birthday kiss. Jessica Simpson turned 30 [Saturday] and celebrated with a romantic boat trip with her new man, Eric Johnson. The reality TV star and her boyfriend of three months, a former NFL player, shared a steamy kiss aboard a luxury yacht in Capri, Italy. Jessica has not had the best luck with men in the past, but it seems this new relationship has already become serious. The pair have been seen walking round the ancient town and shopping for jewelery. [On] Jessica’s actual birthday, they walked hand in hand from their hotel to the marina where they boarded the yacht. She looked relaxed and happy in a short green kaftan and nude platform sandals.

On Friday we got to listen to a deplorable audio recording of actor Mel Gibson verbally abusing his babymama Oksana Grigorieva which included offensive and extremely racist language. Today a new recording has been released and this one, IMHO, is just as bad if not worse than the first. In this recording, Gibson actually admits to physically assaulting Grigorieva (he tells her she “deserved it”) in between screams, pants and silences that seem like he is trying to compose himself … before he seemingly threatens to kill her by telling her he can put her “in a fucking rose garden”. It’s pretty damn scary to listen to as an outsider, I cannot imagine what it must be like to hear these sorts of things when they are directed at you:

Mel Gibson, under investigation for domestic violence, admits to hitting Oksana Grigorieva and TWICE threatens to kill her in an explosive new audio tape obtained and released exclusively by RadarOnline.com. The enraged actor tells the mother of his eight-month old daughter Lucia “you deserved it” after she says that he hit her and broke her teeth. Mel’s stunning admission could be a powerful piece of evidence against him in the criminal investigation that is headed for the district attorney’s office and right now being conducted by the L.A. County Sherriff’s Department. The new tape features a ranting, out-of-control, Mel who screams and is so enraged at times that all he can do is pant heavily, seemingly incapable of speaking. It is one of the most powerful, crazed and bizarre episodes ever caught on tape from a major Hollywood star … As Mel and Oksana argue, the Braveheart star becomes increasingly incensed, and tells her: “You need a fucking bat in the side of the head. Alright, how about that?” … Oksana: “What kind of a man is that? Hitting a woman when she’s holding a child in her hands? Breaking her teeth twice in the face! What kind of man is that?” Mel: “Oh, you’re all angry now! You know what, you fucking deserved it!” … Later on the tape, Mel alludes to killing and burying her. As the former couple’s argument grows worse and worse Oksana tells Mel: “You’re gonna answer one day, boy, you’re gonna answer.” Infuriated, Mel asks if she is threatening him, and Oksana says she is not. “I’m not the one to threaten,” the Russian-born beauty says. And that’s when Mel makes what certainly can be reasonably interpreted as another death threat, telling Oksana: “Threaten ya? I’ll put you in a fuckin rose garden you cunt! You understand that? Because I’m capable of it. You understand that?”

The level of hatred and threatened violence in this recording is unbelievable … while the racist comments he made in the first tape are shocking, these violent comments are absolutely heinous and quite scary. The audio is extremely difficult to listen to. I’ve heard the tape only once and once is quite enough. RadarOnline is hosting the audio recording on their site HERE. If you choose to listen, be warned that the language is extremely NSFW and IMHO very upsetting to hear. I sincerely hope that Grigorieva and her daughter Lucia are well-protected from this madman. Ugh … could this mess get any worse? I guess that will depend on whether more recordings of Gibson‘s rants come to light.
