Earlier this month we learned the news that former Project Runway contestants Santino Rice (who recently has been featured as a head judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race) and Austin Scarlett have teamed up for a new design show called On the Road with Austin & Santino which will debut on Lifetime in August and today we get our first look at the show. Here is one of the new promo photos from the show that has just been released and some deets about what we can expect from these two designers:

Two of Project Runway‘s most memorable contestants — Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice — are heading to a small town near you for a new show on Lifetime. On the Road with Austin & Santino, which premieres July 29 after Project Runway‘s season 8 premiere, will follow the duo as they “travel to and immerse themselves in the culture of small towns across America to create new, dream-come-true looks for special women in unique situations as they celebrate such life milestones as anniversaries, birthdays, balls, graduations and bachelorette parties,” the network says in a statement.

This series will be 14-eps long and should pair nicely with the new season of Project Runway (which, you may have heard, has been expanded from 60-minutes to 90-minutes). I have to say, these two designers are two of my faves from Project Runway and I think they’ll be fun to watch. I’m not really into the whole make-over thing but I’m willing to see what Austin and Santino come up with for the show. Yesterday afternoon, David and I made our way to the Valley to attend a birthday party for our dear friend Angi’s little girl. David and I got to hang out with Angi and her daughter a few weeks ago when we all went to see Toy Story 3 and were invited to hang out again at her birthday party. The fete was held at Kid’s Castle in Burbank and we had the best time ever!

After the party, we made our way to the ArcLight Theater to see The Girl Who Played with Fire, the follow-up film to the stunning movie adaptation of the novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo:

While this follow-up film was not as intense and exciting as the first film, I found it a worthy sequel. The story-telling was just as entertaining this time around even tho the plot wasn’t as intense as the first film was. Because Fire is the second part of the Millennium Trilogy, it felt as if the excitement level was taken down a notch in order for more character backstory to be introduced. This film had intrigue and surprises but nowhere near as exciting as those featured in Tattoo. The two main characters spend the entire movie completely separated because there are two plots going on at the same time … eventually they intersect but the convention is likely to turn off some viewers. While I firmly believe that The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is just as good as the novel it is based on, I suspect the novel version of The Girl Who Played with Fire is better than the movie. That being said, I really did enjoy the movie and I urge all Dragon Tattoo fans to check it out. This second movie left me really anxious to see the third and final film The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest (due out in theaters this Fall).

Today, we’ve got a few things we’re thinking about doing … I’m not sure if we’ll get to do them all. I’m hoping to get out to see one more movie this weekend — the Spanish horror film [REC] 2 opened here in LA this weekend, I’m gonna try and get David to see it with me :)

Cristiano Ronaldo, who revealed to the world last weekend that he is a new father, has been spending this week WITHOUT his newborn baby in NYC enjoying a relaxing holiday with friends (while wearing as little clothing as possible). It turns out that his circle of friends includes *NSync boy bander Lance Bass whom Cristiano supped with in Tribeca last night:

Now, I’m unsure if these two BFFs are old friends or are just starting up a new bromance together but I’m guessing that if they weren’t previously acquainted, it only took one look at those photos of Cristiano in his teeny bathing suit to inspire Lance to reach out to him in friendship. Now that Cristiano is a daddy, I’m thinkin’ that he might seem even more attractive to the right kind of person … who might be into daddies ;) I sure hope we get to see more photos of Cris and Lance hanging out together in NYC … maybe poolside? Please?

Dexter star Michael C. Hall was spotted lookin’ all healthy and sweaty as he emerged from his gym in West Hollywood, CA this week with his personal trainer just hours after he found out he was nominated for an Emmy Award this year for his work last year … behold:

I seriously love how back to normal MCH looks, actually has looked for the past few months. I know he’s been hard at work on the upcoming 5th season of Dexter (you may recall we saw pics of him on set with a surprising character last month) so I’m sure all this workin’ out is to ensure he’s in tip top shape for the show. New eps of Dexter will be back on Showtime in no time, which is really exciting, but the best news ever is that MCH is lookin’ so fit, so well.

It’s been a couple of months now since we’ve seen any new footage (either photo or video) from the Louisiana set of Green Lantern … as you may recall, it was back in May that we got to see a photo of lead star Ryan Reynolds (Hal Jordan/Green Lantern) on set in a fun spandex outfit. Today we get to check out a new video report from a local news affiliate that takes on the set of the film on the 80th day of production as a scene for the movie was being filmed:

ABC 26 recently was given an access to the set of “Green Lantern” in New Orleans, Louisiana and has shared it in an on-set video. While they managed to capture the behind the scenes of the production with director Martin Campbell, the video does not feature the filming involving lead actor Ryan Reynolds. Instead, ABC 26 reporter had a chance to talk with Ernie Malik from Public Relations for “Green Lantern” who revealed that they chose the city as the filming location due to its friendly tax rate. Additionally, Malik admitted that they needed an airport to be turned into “Ferris Aircraft” and they found Lakefront Airport in Louisiana. “Green Lantern” centers its story on Hal Jordan, the alter ego of Green Lantern, who is also an ordinary man chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to receive a green energy-powered ring used for protecting the planet. Ryan Reynolds plays the titular character, joined by the likes of Mark Strong, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard. Warner Bros. Pictures plans to distribute the action superhero movie in U.S. theaters on June 17, 2011.

This video is a fun behind-the-scenes look at what goes on on a movie set but as the report above makes clear, Ryan Reynolds is not featured in the clip. My guess is that the studio wants to keep Ryan as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern on total lock-down until they decide when to show him off … like, say, at San Diego Comic Con in a couple of weeks? In any event, the clip is deffo worth checking out — which you can, after the jump …

At the start of last week, we saw the first photos from the season 4 set of Gossip Girl which is currently in production in Paris, France. As the week progressed, we saw a few more photos from filming in different parts of the city … but today we get to see the first night-time scenes filmed for the new season. Here is a lovely photo of Leighton Meester (as Blair Waldorf) and Blake Lively (as Serena van der Woodsen) preparing to film their scene together near a picturesque fountain in Paris last night:

I must warn, tho, that the rest of the photos that I have to share are a bit spoilery. I mean, not spoilery in a way that has never been seen on the show before but spoilery in the way that those of you who wish to be completely surprised by what’s to come in the new seasons might want to avoid looking. I will say the photos feature these ladies involved in a grippingly dramatic scene together … and there is water involved. Curious? Check ‘em out, after the jump …

Yesterday we got to see the first photos of soon-to-be-jailbird Lindsay Lohan venturing out in public for the first time since she was sentenced last Tuesday to 90 days in jail plus 90 days in rehab for violating the terms of her probation from her 2007 DUI conviction. As you may recall, Lindsay and her peeps made their way to an art supplies store to pick up a few provisions. Today we see new photos of Lindsay out and about with her crew … which at long last includes her mother Dina Lohan:

She may be heading to jail soon enough, but it was business as usual for Lindsay Lohan today. The Mean Girls star visited her local Coffee Bean cafe with her entourage, which included her mother Dina, sister Ali and rumoured new girlfriend Eilat Anschel. The 24-year-old put her physique on show in a sports bra, zip-up jacket and tight legging. She appeared relatively upbeat, saying ‘thank you’ when a passer-by gave her some words of encouragement. But Dina has admitted that under the calm exterior, her daughter is ‘scared to death’ about her prison spell … Her mother was asked by Entertainment Tonight if Lindsay will be able to survive her time inside and she replied: ‘You know, she’s strong, but until someone faces something as devastating as that… we’re going to have to see. She’s a fighter, and until the final result – we’re not giving up.’ She added: ‘I think it’s time we get another attorney just to see it from another light and do damage control.’ Lohan’s criminal defense lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley resigned from the case yesterday. A source close to Lohan says: ‘Lindsay met with two prominent criminal defense attorneys on Wednesday, but both refused to take the case because of her attitude. Lohan blames everyone around her for her circumstances, and she is absolutely unaccountable. She is an attorney’s worst nightmare because she simply refuses to follow any advice that she disagrees with.’ Lohan is set to begin her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on July 20.

Yes, girl, make those coffee runs while you still can. I don’t think they serve caffeinated coffee drinks inside the Lynwood Correctional Facility … tho, considering the number of young Hollywood “It” Girls they tend to incarcerate, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they did add Coffee Bean drinks to their menu. But I digress. You will note how giddily happy Dina Lohan appears in the photos above. Not only is she dressed exactly like her daughter (very likely in an attempt to look like “one of the girls”), she seems especially happy to be photographed in Lindsay‘s posse. I can’t even convey much much her mother’s enabling behavior utterly grosses me out. I’m not even kidding, I would bet very good money that Dina would do ANYTHING to take her daughter’s place in jail … I have no doubt that Dina would love to be in L. Lo‘s troubled shoes if it meant this level of attention and fame. Ugh … in her own sick way, Dina‘s enabling of Lindsay‘s dangerous behavior actually works out the best for her … Dina is able to bask somewhat in the attention while her daughter dangles on the hook and suffers the consequences of her recklessness. I mean, I do feel bad for Lindsay sometimes … I feel most sorry for the way the people around her refuse to help save her life.
