‘The Social Network’ Releases A Second Movie Trailer

A couple of weeks ago we got our first look at the first movie trailer released for the upcoming David Fincher film The Social Network (commonly referred to as the Facebook Movie) and today we get to see trailer #2. While the first trailer was an ominously vague tease of the film (with music by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, who recently announced that he wrote the score for the film), this second trailer puts the storyline into a bit more context … kinda:

This new trailer uses the same audio dialog we heard in the first trailer but adds a back and forth “chat” by way of Facebook status updates. It’s a clever way to make the trailer for The Social Network look more Facebooky. After the jump, check out the trailer in full …

5th times the charm?
Jessica Simpson Surfaces With Her New Still-Married Man

Just a few days ago we got wind that Jessica Simpson has hooked-up with a new dude, a former NFLer named Eric Johnson, but it turns out that the couple have actually been together for about 5 weeks now … and today we get our first look at the new lovebirds out in public together. US Weekly has scored the first photo of Jessica and her new man Eric … who is still legally married, I might add! Oh Jess, you sure know how to pick ‘em:

The new issue of Us Weekly has the first pic of Jessica Simpson and her newest guy, Eric Johnson. He’s a former NFL player — and still legally married! The two began dating five weeks ago, shortly after pals brought Johnson — who retired in 2008 after an injury-plagued career as a tight end for the New Orleans Saints and San Fancisco 49ers — to a party at Simpson’s Beverly Hills’ home. “Jess is definitely rushing into this,” an insider tells Us. Indeed, in the photo, the couple are in Jacksonville, Fla., where they were celebrating Johnson’s grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary! When not hanging out with his entire family, Simpson and Johnson, who filed for divorce from his wife of five years, Keri, in January, made time for some serious PDA at the modest, family-friendly Ponte Vedra Inn & Club at which they were staying. While strolling to their modest apartment there, “Her hand was on his butt, and they walked slowly just to enjoy the moment… They looked cute together,” says an insider, who also adds that they spent time with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.

As you may recall, Jessica got dumped by the last professional athlete she dated, Tony Romo, on her birthday last year. It looks like she’ll be having a happier birthday this year with her new dude … and meh. who cares if she’s still married? Clearly, it don’t bother Jessica. If you consider that things didn’t work out with her husband Nick Lachey and subsequent boyfriends John Mayer, Tony Romo and Billy Corgan you might think that this new relationship with the still-married Johnson may be doomed … and, well, you may be right. But at least homegirl keeps putting herself out there. She’s bound to get it right eventually … ain’t she? Here’s hoping this guy’s the one … er, after his divorce goes thru.

Tweets her displeasure at being unduly punished for her crimes
Lindsay Lohan Implies Her Human Rights Have Been Violated

For most of the day after Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail plus 90 days in rehab for violating the terms of probation imposed on her after her 2007 DUI conviction she managed to keep relatively quiet on her official Twitter profile. She posted a few messages to close friends (“@lyricaanderson can you and chris come by my apt? please”), posted a thank you to a celebrity friend (“thank you so much @KimKardashian – thanks for being such a good friend, it means a lot to me”) and even tried to explain why she had written “fuck U” on her middle finger nail while she was in court (“@liana_levi didn’t we do our nails as a joke with our friend dc? it had nothing to do w/court.. it’s an airbrush design from a stencil xx”). But late yesterday, Lindsay got real serious on her Twitter profile … and seemed to imply that her Human Rights have been violated by the 90/90 sentence imposed on her:

It is clearly stated in Article 5 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights that…. / , “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” / this was taken from an article by Erik Luna.. “November 1 marked the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. But there were no / celebrations, parades, or other festivities in honor of this punishment scheme created by Congress and the U.S. Sentencing Commission….” / Instead, the day passed like most others during the last 15 years:Scores of federal defendants sentenced under a constitutionally perverted” / system that saps moral judgment through its mechanical rules.”

After she posted this information on her profile, she then posted a link to a story about an Iranian woman named Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani who faces death by stoning as a punishment for the crime of adultery (“http://tinyurl.com/29kxdyf — please RT”). I’m gonna assume that Lindsay was merely retweeting the link about the Iranian woman to spread her story to others and WAS NOT likening her personal situation to the Iranian woman’s situation. I suppose it’s possible that Lindsay‘s tweets about Human Rights violations were aimed at what is happening to that woman in Iran but I honestly cannot believe that Lindsay would be so selfless. It’s clear that she believes she is being unduly punished for her crimes (in fact, she prolly believes she shouldn’t be punished at all) and is likely looking for sympathy from anyone who will give it to her. I honestly think it would be in her best interest to just take her lumps, serve out her punishment as ruled by the court, take her rehab seriously and make the strongest effort she’s ever made to clean up her life. Maybe she can one day actually work towards shedding light on Human Rights violations around the world … but first, she needs to get her own life in order.

'Glee' nabs 19 noms, 'Mad Men' nab 17
The 2010 Emmy Award Nominations Have Been Announced

Hollywood got up bright and early today to announce the nominations for the 2010 Emmy Awards which will honor the best television shows and performances of the past year. The big surprise (but is it really a surprise?) was that newcomer Glee walked away with the most noms this year … pulling in 19 nominations for the show and its lead performers. Mad Men, a fave of Emmy voters, came in second with 17 nominations. Another Emmy fave, 30 Rock, managed to secure 15 noms and another newcomer, Modern Family, nabbed 14. But in my opinion, the coolest nom came for Conan O’Brien who was nominated for his short run as host of The Tonight Show (and unsurprisingly no nomination was given to Jay Leno for his failed Jay Leno Show) Here is a rundown of which other shows and performers were awoken today with the good Emmy Award news:

It was a “Glee”-ful morning. The Fox phenomenon about a high school glee club scored 19 Emmy nominations Thursday morning — the most of any series — including best comedy series and acting nods for Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. It wasn’t the only freshman show to catch the eye of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. ABC’s comedy “Modern Family,” about a delightfully dysfunctional clan, earned 14 nominations. Among them: best comedy series, writing, directing and several best supporting actor and actress nominations, including one for Sofia Vergara, who along with “Community” star Joel McHale helped to announce the nominations. CBS’ “The Good Wife” picked up nine nominations after its first season, including best dramatic series and best actress for Julianna Margulies. There was also a fond farewell to ABC drama series “Lost.” It had a particularly strong showing, earning nominations in several categories, including best dramatic series and a best-actor nod for Matthew Fox. Two other outgoing shows didn’t have quite the sendoff. Fox’s “24″ managed just five nominations, and NBC’s long-running “Law & Order” is going away empty-handed. There’s also no sign that AMC’s period drama “Mad Men” and NBC’s comedy series “30 Rock” are getting old. “Mad Men,” the winner of best dramatic series for the last two years earned 17 nominations, including best drama series and acting nominations for Jon Hamm and January Jones, as well as writing and directing. And “30 Rock,” which has won best comedy series for the last three seasons, garnered 15 nominations, including best comedy series and acting nods for Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, among others, as well as writing and directing. Somewhere, Conan O’Brien was cackling: The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences jumped on the Team Coco bandwagon, nominating the short-lived “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” in the category of best variety, music or comedy series, snubbing Jay Leno. O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” also was nominated in three other categories, no thanks to NBC, which did not campaign for him … To those wags who think NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” is past its late-night prime, here’s this: The comedy variety series earned 12 nominations, making for a grand total of 126 nominations since it started in 1975. In doing so, it has now surpassed NBC’s “ER” – which earned 124 during its lifespan — as the most-nominated television show in Emmy history. As usual, HBO dominated the nominations. The pay channel pulled in 101, two more than last year’s haul. Leading the way was ambitious 10-part World War II miniseries “The Pacific” — produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks — with 24 of those nominations. (By contrast, the network with the next-highest haul was ABC, with 63 nominations. HBO’s network rival, Showtime, earned 23 nominations.) Although there was a lot of young talent nominated Thursday, several veterans earned some shout-outs, including Eli Wallach, 94, for a guest role on “Nurse Jackie,” as well as Robert Morse for “Mad Men,” Sissy Spacek for “Big Love,” Shirley Jones for “The Cleaner,” Maggie Smith for “Capturing Mary,” Judi Dench for “Return to Cranford,” Lily Tomlin for “Damages,” Elaine Stritch for “30 Rock,” Ann-Margret for “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” Brenda Vaccaro for “You Don’t Know Jack” and last, but not least, the red-hot Betty White for her turn hosting “Saturday Night Live.” The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards will air live coast to coast on Aug. 29 on NBC at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

While I’m bummed that 24 didn’t get a bit more love from the Emmy noms this year, I’m not really surprised … the show was never an awards darling. I hope it will managed to win a few of their 5 nominations … that would be a nice send off, I think. The fact that Lost secured 12 noms isn’t at all surprising, the show was a big hit … it’s bound to get some sort of reasonable send off. Altho I’m not a Law & Order fan, it’s a shame they got no love at all. As is the case usually with these awards show nominations, not everyone is going to agree … but overall, I’m pleased with the way the cookies crumbed this time around. Did any of your fave shows make a particularly strong showing with these noms today? Who are you rooting for?

Oh … and can you believe we’re already at the dawn of a new awards season? OY!
