Uh Oh! Dexter's got some 'splainin' to do
The ‘FBI’ Pay A Visit To The Set Of ‘Dexter’

Pink reader Julie happened upon the SoCal set of Dexter (which is currently in production of their 5th season) and managed to snap an interesting not-really-spoilery photo of a prop FBI truck parked in front of Dexter Morgan‘s house on the show:

Now, it’s impossible to know the context of this photo but I think it’s safe to say — based on the SHOCKING events that occurred in the season 4 finale of the show — that Dexter (played by Michael C. Hall) will have to answer some tough questions from the FBI. I am SO excited that season 5 is finally in production … cuz that means we are that much closer to the return of all new eps on Showtime later this year! Woot!

[thanks Julie]

Mary Lynn Rajskub Spreads Her Legs, Bares Her Soul

Last night Darion and I made our way to the Steve Allen Theater here in LA to attend the opening night performance of Mary Lynn Rajskub‘s new one woman show Mary Lynn Spreads Her Legs. Darion and I saw her do a stand-up comedy show at M Bar a couple of years ago so we were really looking forward to gettin’ our yuks from MLR last night … and boy did we ever. The show is utterly fantastic and … surprisingly touching and poignant, too:

The show is all about Mary Lynn‘s pregnancy and subsequent relationship with her now husband Matthew Rolph and very funnily details all of the pitfalls that Mary Lynn endured by becoming a new mom. I don’t want to spoil the show for you in case you get to see it but … I wouldn’t let MLR babysit your child … unless you DON’T own an oven. As I said, the show is riotously funny (tho, I could go a lifetime without every hearing MLR utter the words “tight pussy” ever again) and then shockingly poignant and very, very touching. Mary Lynn is able to switch instantaneously from a funny bit to a quiet and sentimental one. We were so impressed and entertained. Mary Lynn will be performing her one-woman show Mary Lynn Spreads Her Legs at the Steve Allen Theater every weekend all Summer long, thru the end of October! Click HERE to get tix for this show … YOU MUST SEE IT!

We got to chat with her for a bit after the show, she was a total sweetheart … it’s always so nice getting to chat with her :D

After the show, Darion and I were invited to the Friends and Family soft opening night of a new bar on Hollywood Blvd. called Loaded. D’s friend Tara’s boyfriend PJ is part owner so we were happy to show up and lend our support (and get some free drinks, too). After the jump, check out some of our pics from the bar …

"I know 24 is a young age to retire but ..."
Amanda Bynes Announces Her Retirement

Illustrious actress Amanda Bynes — who has starred in such films as What A Girl Wants, She’s the Man, Hairspray and Sydney White and TV shows like The Amanda Show, All That and What I Like About You — has, at the tender age of 24, announced her retirement on her official Twitter account. The official announcement is very light on deets … it suggests that she is retiring from acting altogether but it remains to be seen if she is also retiring from the public eye. Here are the retirement tweets posted by Amanda early this morning:

I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play / Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem / If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it / I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it / I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve #retired

And there you have it, folks … the end of an era. I have to say, I like Amanda Bynes a lot. I think she is a cute actress and I generally enjoy the movies she does … you know, when they come on cable and I’ve got nothing better to do. To be honest, I’m not really her target audience so … that’s pretty good, I think. Anyways … this retirement announcement may seem like it came out of the blue … but if you follow Amanda on Twitter, you know that she is totally random. This is the tweet she posted just before she announced her retirement:

I like black men I’m very attracted to them just fyi

And here is a sampling of some of the other random tweets that she posts on her official Twitter account:

I only smile if I’m happy if you catch me smiling I’m happy / Happy June 15th :) / i have love for everybody I follow or don’t follow if you’re good news :) / keep your love you never know if you’ll find another one / coincidences exist for sure, sometimes I think God makes coincidences to show us fate exists since some things can’t be explained / I’m changing my name back to @AmandaBynes pretty soon on twitter fyi / I’m your original girl so I like being called an OG it’s sweet

And on and on. Amanda has not tweeted a single thing since she announced her retirement … so it’s possible she has also retired from Twitter. Whatever the case may be, it might be nice to pour one out for Amanda‘s acting a career should she actually follow thru with her declaration. I know I’m bummed there will never be a She’s the Man 2 but sometimes life is cruel.

Soooo … what do y’all think of Amanda’s retirement announcement?

Brandon Routh Is A Superfan Of Cirque Du Soleil: ‘Viva Elvis’

Superman Returns star Brandon Routh and his wife Courtney Ford (who played sneaky journalist with a secret Christine Hill on season 3 of Dexter) paid a visit to the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV last night to attend a performance of the newest Cirque du Soleil show called Vivia Elvis. As you may know, Viva Elvis is based on the iconic music of the King of Rock and Roll himself Elvis Presley and has been wowing audiences since it opened last December. Here are a couple photos of Brandon and Courtney with some of the Viva Elvis cast, including singer Toscha Comeaux and dancer Miguel Perez:

I have been DYING to see Viva Elvis myself! I’m such a huge Cirque du Soleil fan, I can’t even tell you. David and I got to see KOOZÅ when it was here in LA last November and we had an absolute blast. Every time we go to Vegas we try and set aside a night so we can see a new Cirque show … Viva Elvis is deffo next on our list. I understand Brandon and Courtney had a blast … I can’t wait til I can experience this fun show for myself. Have any of y’all seen Viva Elvis yet? If so, did you love?

The Facebook movie will hit theaters this October
‘The Social Network’ Releases A First Movie Poster

Last November we saw photos from the set of the so-called Facebook movie titled The Social Network and today we get our first look at the first promo poster released from the film. As you may (or may not) know, The Social Network stars Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Rashida Jones (among others) and tells the tale of the creation of the online behemoth known as Facebook and chronicles the highs and lows of getting the small social networking site online … and its subsequent growth into the Internet giant it has become. And so … here is the poster:

Columbia Pictures has provided ComingSoon.net with the poster for director David Fincher’s The Social Network, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, Joe Mazzello and Rashida Jones. A teaser site for the film has also launched HERE. Written and produced by Aaron Sorkin, the October 1st release is about the creation of Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg created the site in 2004 at Harvard during his sophomore year. It now has over 400 million members worldwide. Eisenberg is playing Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg; Timberlake plays Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became Facebook’s founding president; and Garfield plays Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who fell out with Zuckerberg over money.

Considering that Facebook has grown so large that is is actually challenging Google for Internet supremacy, I can understand how a movie about the site’s creation might be interesting to some people. You may not believe this but I’m not a huge Facebook user (Twitter is more my style) so I don’t quite get all the hoopla over the site but I might be down with checking out this movie. It’s kinda crazy that we live in an age where movies are now being made about websites … it’s so weird. That being said, when are they going to start production of the Twitter movie? Now that’s something I’d totes be down with seeing. Any Facebook fans out there itching to see The Social Network? Is this your kind of thing?

A saint's work is never done
Angelina Jolie Visits Refugees In Ecuador

Angelina Jolie, in her role as UN Goodwill Ambassador, made her way to Ecuador this week to visit with refugees there for the first time since she visited the area about 8 years ago. Ecuador has received an influx of refugees due to the horrors going on in Colombia and Angelina decided to make a trip there to assess the situation so she can report back to the United Nations as well as bring some attention to the plight of the refugees there:

Angelina Jolie left Brad Pitt at home with their brood in LA to spend time with refugee children in northern Ecuador this week. The UN Goodwill Ambassador, who was dressed in a white vest and jeans, visited a local daycare centre where she shared a laugh with little ones while playing with a toy set. The Wanted actress is drawing attention to the plight of thousands who fled the conflict in Colombia to start a new life on the other side of the Ecuadorian-Colombian border. Jolie, who turned 35 on June 4, was reunited with a Columbian mother she first met eight years ago during her first visit to Lago Agrio, the capital of Sucumbios province. The actress said: ‘At that time she had a lot of hope for her future. She was recently treated for cancer. She still holds on to hope’ … ‘It’s been eight years since I was last here and UNHCR’s presence has grown considerably,’ Jolie told Ecuadorian reporters. ‘They are going into the thickest parts of the jungle to reach the refugees, who are living in very remote locations and in desperate conditions,’ she added. ‘I wanted to come back and meet with vulnerable people and focus on violence against women and unaccompanied minors. I am so happy to be able to reconnect with some familiar faces, refugees I had met with during my 2002 trip,’ she concluded. It is the latest of many mercy missions for the mother-of-six, who has visited Syria, Bosnia and Haiti in the last few months alone.

I continue to be impressed with Angelina‘s level of commitment to her work as UN Goodwill Ambassador. No matter what she’s got going on in her extremely bizzy personal and professional life, she always makes time to devote her time and energy to visiting affected areas of the world to shine the light of awareness on some very troubled situations. We are all very lucky to never truly understand how horrible the conditions are for the refugees of the world but I feel that as long as folks as famous as Angelina Jolie stay committed to informing us on what is going on, we can at least have some sense of the pain and suffering that our fellow man suffers thru on a daily basis while we live in absolute luxury. I absolutely commend her continued work as UN Goodwill Ambassador and hope that she continues to devote her time and energy to the cause. Even if we never think about these particular people again, I know that some bit of what they are going thru will be kept and remembered in people’s hearts and minds. Maybe that seed will grow and new ways of giving aid will sprout. If you would like to donate and help in any way you can, you can do so HERE.

The first pics from the 'Pirates 4' set
‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Begins Production

Initial filming production has officially gotten underway on the Hawaiian set of the upcoming sequel film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides as a couple of on set photos have made their way to Twitter … courtesy of Jerry Bruckheimer and his official Twitter account. These first photos don’t show much but they are a sign that things are starting to happen on set and that Pirates 4 will soon become a reality:

Jerry Bruckheimer has taken it to his Twitter to inform that the principal photography for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” has been kicked off on Thursday, June 17 in Hawaii. Along with the announcement, the producer has posted several on-set pics … [T]wo shots capture the chairs for the crew and cast members, with one of shots revealing the possible logo of the movie. Johnny Depp, who is set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, has not been spotted on the set. In this fourth installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise, he will share screen with new cast members such as Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Sam Claflin and Stephen Graham. The story will follow the eccentric pirate as he tries to find the fountain of youth. Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott provide the script while Walt Disney Pictures has set May 20, 2011 as the day when this action comedy flick will be distributed in the U.S.

I know there are a great many folks out there who are very excited that the salty Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow so this is very likely good knows for those peeps. I, for one, have enjoyed the Pirates films — some more than others — and while I’m not chomping at the bit for another Pirates film, I think I can get on board again if it turns out alright. It’s very early in production but you know how these things go … it won’t be long until we see something more substantial from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Are YOU excited?
