Decide to take a "break" from their relationship
Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen Call Off Their Engagement

Back in February of 2009, Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen announced that they had gotten engaged to be wed back in December of 2008 and then the couple went out of sight, into hiding. It wasn’t until July of 2009 that Rachel surfaced sans Hayden but with engagement bling … and then the couple went out of sight, into hiding. The couple came out of hiding once earlier this year for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games but again … went out of sight, into hiding. Today we are hearing that the couple has decided to take a “break” from their relationship and put their engagement on hold. HMMMM. It sounds like the couple are dunzo, y’all!

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are “taking a break,” a source tells UsMagazine.com. The two announced their engagement in February 2009. Bilson, 28, flashed a ringless finger to Us on the red carpet of the Take No Prisoners event in L.A. Wednesday night. When asked how wedding plans were going, she said, “No, no plans” and pointed to her bare hand. “No nothing.” The source says the couple — who co-starred in 2008 action flick Jumper — are “taking about a month off” and will then revisit their relationship to decide if they should stay together. The break began about two weeks ago, the source adds.

Yeah … these two … they are not getting married. They’ve been so weird as a couple since they got secretly engaged, I never once believed they would actually make it down the aisle. The couple, RayDen as I love to call them, are never ever seen together. I mean, I’m all for privacy but … when you never see a high profile couple together, there has to be something wrong. The fact that Rachel is no longer wearing the ring seems like a pretty good indication that the wedding is off. It’s always sad when a couple breaks up or, should I say, goes on a “break” but considering how these two never really seemed like a genuine couple to me … it’s hard to feel the loss. What do y’all think … are you sad that RayDen are practically dunzo?

Back To Back Champs!
The Los Angeles Lakers Win The 2010 NBA Championship

Congratulations are in order for the Los Angeles Lakers for their big win last night to take the 2010 NBA Championship … for the 16th time in the storied career of the franchise. The Lakers battled their arch-nemeses Boston Celtics in 7 games but managed to squeeze out a win last night to win their second NBA Championship in row!

The Los Angeles Lakers captured their 16th championship title as Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol paced the attack with a nail-biting victory over the Boston Celtics. Bryant scored 23 points and Spain’s Gasol had 19 points and 18 rebounds for the Lakers who rallied from a 13-point deficit to beat Boston 83-79 in game seven, on Thursday. Forward Ron Artest finished with 20 points and five steals for the Lakers who avenged a 2008 finals loss to the Celtics and captured their second-straight championship title. “This is the sweetest,” said Bryant, who collected his fifth ring and was named MVP of the series. “It is the sweetest because it is against them (Celtics) and it is the hardest one by far.” It was a stunning turnaround from the first half for the Lakers in front of a boisterous crowd of 18,997 at Staples Center arena. “We did it with perseverance,” said Lakers coach Phil Jackson who won his 11th NBA championship ring. “I thought our defence was terrific. We were able to step in and play the kind of defence that we’ve established as kind of a calling for this team.” Bryant and his teammates struggled in the first half. Bryant scored just eight points as the Celtics led by six points, 40-34, at the half and 57-53 heading into the fourth of the defensive struggle. But the Lakers hung around long enough for Bryant to catch fire in the fourth quarter, sparking the offence outburst and dominating the rebounds under his own basket. “Tonight it (pressure) got the best of me,” Bryant said of his early struggles. “I wanted it so bad sometimes you want something so bad it slips away from you. “But my teammates picked me up and I can’t say enough about Spain (Gasol). That guy is unbelievable and we wouldn’t have won it without him.” The win was sweet redemption for the Lakers who still had a bitter after taste following their humiliating 2008 finals loss to the Celtics.

Now, I’m not a big basketball fan but I do enjoy rooting for my new home team (that is, when my beloved Detroit teams are no longer in the running) so I was happy to support the Lakers in the finals this year. OY! Last night’s game was so good, I couldn’t even watch most of it. I had to watch part 3 of The Real Housewives of NYC Reunion to keep my head from exploding with worry and excitement. I did watch the very end and, man, what a game. My hat is off to the Boston Celtics who made the Lakers WORK for this win … they are a great team and should be heartily congratulated for their efforts.

Last night’s back to back Lakers win reminded me a lot of the back to back NBA Championship wins enjoyed by the Detroit Pistons back in the early 90s … back then, the Pistons defeated the LA Lakers two years in a row. This latest win feels a bit like that. It’s a shame that moronic idiots have to ruin the fun by rioting in the streets (like they did here in downtown LA last night and, unfortunately, like they did in downtown Detroit back in the early 90s) but overall, it’s a happy day for Lakers fans today. Congrats! Let’s do it all again next year :D
