In March we got our first look at the new Universal Studios Florida theme park attraction The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and in April Ellen DeGeneres got a sneak peek of the park. Last month a few of the Harry Potter actors themselves got to tour the park and starting today YOU can visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter … cuz it’s now officially open for business:

I’ve heard from a few Pink readers who ventured to Universal Studios in Orlando, FL today to check out the new attraction and I’m hearing that the wait time just to get in is at about 6 hours long! I can’t wait to visit the park myself but … I think I’m gonna wait until the hub-bub dies down a bit. Still, it’s a pretty cool notion to know that at last … the world of Harry Potter actually exists somewhere in our world. Magic happens … and apparently it happens in Orlando, FL. Larry Graham, the famed bassist for Sly and the Family Stone, performed a small concert at B.B. King nightclub in NYC, NY this week and was joined on stage by a good friend who decided to hop on stage and perform with him. Folks who were in the crowd that night to see Graham play his show were treated to a surprise impromptu performance by none other than Prince himself:

The one and only PRINCE joined funk legend and friend Larry Graham on stage tonight at B.B. Kings in New York City. We were told by a few funkenbabies that Prince looked faboosh and was in a great mood, and was moving in his seat all night before joining the bassmaster. Here is a cut of the funk. I just love when Prince pops up and does stuff like this. It’s a shame the audio quality of this video isn’t better but the video quality is pretty ace. Prince looks good. I got to see Larry Graham open for Prince on tour a few years ago … but it’s nice to see them playing on the stage together now. Dang, it would’ve been pretty damn cool to at B.B. King to see this live.

Almost one year after his untimely death, Billboard magazine is featuring Michael Jackson on the cover of their new issue. The magazine is paying homage to MJ‘s 50 Top Hits and reveals his most successful single according to the Billboard charts … and you may be very surprised to find out which of his many songs is his most successful (it ain’t Billie Jean or Thriller). In the days, weeks and months following his death on June 25, 2009, from drug-related cardiac arrest, a popular reclaiming of Jackson as a beloved, once-in-a-lifetime musical genius took hold. While cable-news pundits endlessly pored over the tawdry circumstances of his demise, millions of fans new and old simply shrugged their shoulders and happily popped in their “Thriller” CDs. In July, Jackson regained his spot at the top of the Billboard sales charts, moving 422,000 units in the week after his death alone–to date, the Jackson catalog has sold 9 million copies in the year since he passed, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Spontaneously, kids from Bed-Stuy to Beijing were seen sporting bootleg “Thriller” T-shirts and blaring “Billie Jean” as if it were 1983 and Reagan was in the White House. He might be even bigger … after all, there is still that treasure trove of unreleased Michael Jackson music that has yet to be released. Who knows, in a few years Billboard may have to amend this list of 50 Top Hits with the addition of a few new songs.

In order to promote the release of the new Scissor Sisters album Night Work (due out on June 29), frontman Jake Shears decided to post a cheeky personal ad on the gay escort site Rentboy.com (link NSFW). Coupled with some clever stats, this new escort ad features a few sexy cameraphone photos of Mr. Shears in almost all his glory … behold:

Scissor Sister’s front man Jake Shears placed his own escort ad on Rentboy.com at www.rentboy.com/nightwork today. The ad promotes his new album NIGHTWORK (coming out June 28th on Polydor/Universal) and includes erotic photos snapped by bandmate Baby Daddy from his cell phone. Jake lists his talents as “go-go dancing and stripping” and his “out rate” as $11.99, or the price of the new album on i-Tunes. The band launched their 26-city world tour this week. So, I’ve been working a little birthday plan for myself for the past few days but until I got the whole thing sorted out I didn’t want to say anything for fear of jinxing my plans … but after getting a few of the really big things sorted, I can now reveal that I will be jetting off to Paris, France in a few weeks to see Tori Amos live in concert at the Olympia Hall on July 19. Even better, my best friend Sarah will be coming with me! She and I have been talking about this crazy, last-minute scheme and decided to go for it:

This will be Sarah’s first international trip and my third visit to the City of Lights. I can’t even explain how excited I am to see Tori — IN PARIS! As you may recall, I spent some time recently reminiscing about Tori‘s Plugged ’98 tour and it was all of that reminiscing that inspired me to do this trip. Sarah and I scored great tickets for the show, reasonable plane tickets and … away we will go!! I’m thrilled that I’ll be here in SoCal for my actual birthday on the 12 but the following weekend, I jet off to Detroit to meet up with Sarah and from there we’re off to Paris for the long weekend. It’s nuts, I know … but I haven’t been all that excited about turning another year older. At least now, I’m actually looking forward to my birthday. Tori, here we come!!

After many years of NOT being in print, US clothier Abercrombie & Fitch has announced today that their famed (or infamous) A&F Quarterly catalog will, once again, be available for purchase in A&F stores beginning on July 17, 2010. As you may know, A&F stopped publication of their Abercrombie catalog due to pressure from parents that the catalog was nothing more than pornography. Altho the catalog has NOT been published here in the US, an international hardbound version of the catalog was published back in 2008 for sale outside of the US. Now, out of the blue, A&F has announced that the catalog is back!

As a long time fan of A&F (I know, so sue me) I am very familiar with the Abercrombie catalog and I am (not really so) proud to say that I own every issue of A&F Quarterly (including the international version which was sold only at the A&F store in London, England in 2008). While it is true that there is some nudity in the publication (and not really many photos of models actually waring A&F clothing), I do love that all of the photographs are shot by one of my fave photographers Bruce Weber. So … I will deffo be getting a copy when the newest issue of A&F Quarterly becomes available next month. Lindsay Lohan, who found her self sadly sans personal assistant earlier this month after her said assistant quit, is currently breaking in a new assistant here in SoCal. Before Lindsay took her new assistant out on the town on his very first night of employment, she engaged in a bit of retail therapy at Yves Saint Laurent in Beverly Hills, CA:

You know, I gotta say … wow. Lindsay looks damn good in this backless outfit. The genie pants are a bit much but at least she’s got an excuse to wear them. I love the backless top, tho. Chace Crawford, who was recently arrested and charged with marijuana possession in his home State of Texas, made his first public appearance since being sprung from jail at a sports pub in London, England last night to watch the 2010 NBA Finals Championship game with friends … behold:

He’s still lookin’ purdy, I see. It’s nice to know that Chace‘s recent brush with the law hasn’t appeared to harden him too much. As you may recall, it was reported that if convicted of his crime Chace could face up to 6 months in jail for misdemeanor marijuana possession … which is so not cool. It looks like Chace is just trying to have as good a time as he can in London before he has to return home to Texas to face the judge. Party up, Chace! Have fun while you still can.
