Christina Aguilera, who wowed the crowd with her live performance at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards last night, will go On the Record in a new interview with Fuse TV today where she talks about her upcoming album as well as the way she (and other strong women in music) are perceived by others. Ian Somerhalder, star of The CW‘s hit supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries, made an in-person appearance at the 50th Anniversary of Monte Carlo Television Festival in France event earlier today … as you can tell, Ian was lookin’ all kinds of scruffy hawt on the red carpet:

Last week we learned the amazing news that Warner Bros. Animation is producing a new animated series based on the 80′s cartoon Thundercats and today we learn from Variety that the same is being done for another 80′s cartoon — Voltron: Defender of the Universe! According to the report, a new animated version of Voltron will air on TV and then a new Mattel toy line will debut in stores and then a big screen film will hit theaters!

The reintroduction of “Voltron: Defender of the Universe” will begin with an animated series on Nicktoons and a new toy line from Mattel rather than leap straight onto the bigscreen. That’s the plan from rights holders World Event Prods and Classic Media, which are attempting to relaunch the massive robot, popular in the 1980s, to a new generation. It’s the latest of several properties to scrap plans for an initial film in favor of relaunching the brand through TV and toys … Starting next year, Nicktoons will air 26 half-hour episodes of “Voltron Force,” about five space explorers who pilot robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, an invincible guardian sworn to defend the Universe. Series will remain faithful to the old show, while introducing new recruits to fight alongside the original characters. New episodes will be timed to the 25th anniverseries. It’s the first “Voltron” TV project in 10 years, although an iPhone game came out in December. WEP and Classic Media (“Casper the Friendly Ghost,” “Where’s Waldo?”) will produce the toon with Kickstart Prods. (“Wolverine and the X-Men”). Classic Media is shepherding international distribution, merchandising and licensing deals. Mattel will tie-in with the anniversary to launch toys based on the classic “Voltron” range, as well as action figures and playsets that revolve around an edgier, modernized robot. There is no date on when the toys will hit shelves. “What’s paramount is getting the toys right,” Ted Koplar, president of St. Louis-based WEP told Daily Variety. “They’re pretty involved toys that have to transform and fit together.” WEP and Classic Media had been developing a live action feature for some time but scribes, including Justin Marks, have yet to lock down the right tone, producers said. Hasbro took the opposite approach with “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe,” relying on the first films in the franchises in 2007 and 2009 to introduce new toys for the lines. The move to TV makes sense: “Transformers,” “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” and “G.I. Joe” were introduced to kids via shows produced by Hasbro and Mattel to sell toys. “It’s an exciting way to introduce the brand to a generation that isn’t familiar with ‘Voltron,’” Koplar said.

I am seriously dying … this is just … too amazing for words. All of my childhood faves are being reborn for a new generation … this is just the best news ever. I LOVED Voltron as a kid … while I spent most of my allowance money on buying He-Man and Transformers action figures, I made sure to own some Voltron toys, too! The cartoon tho, yeah, that’s what I loved most about the characters. Voltron was my first introduction to Japanese anime-style animation. Congratulations are in order for Canadian chanteuse Alanis Morissette and her loverboy Mario Souleye Treadway … the couple have announced today that they were secretly wed in a private ceremony last month! As you may recall, we saw photos of Alanis and Souleye doing a bit of lovey-dovey jewelry shopping together at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, CA last November … I guess they were in the market for wedding bling. I mean, yeah … they got hitched, y’all!

Alanis Morissette is officially off the market! The singer and the rapper Souleye, 30, (real name: Mario Treadway) tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with family present at their Los Angeles home on May 22, a source tells PEOPLE. Morissette’s rep confirms the news. It is the first marriage for the couple, who wed a week before Morissette’s 36th birthday.

Whoa! These two move pretty fast! I’m always a bit suspect of any couple that decides to marry so soon after they meet but who am I to discount true love? I love me some Alanis and if she thinks this Souleye dude is worth marrying then he’s got to be a’ight. Let’s send all our love and congrats their way for a long and very happy marriage!

A little over an hour ago, Apple CEO Steve Jobs gave the keynote speech at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA to (among other things) announce the imminent release of the 4th generation iPhone. Altho we got to see what this new iPhone looks like WELL in advance of today’s official announcement, we did get to hear about all the amazing things this new device will offer. The iPhone 4 will be available in two colors (black and white), it will go on sale on June 24 (pre-orders begin June 15) and it will cost $199 for the 16gb model and $299 for the 32gb model:

Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Monday introduced the newest version of the company’s popular smartphone: iPhone 4. “We think it’s the biggest leap we’ve taken since the original iPhone,” Jobs told an enthusiastic audience at the company’s annual developers conference. “We’re really proud of it.” The phone comes in two colors — black and white — and will go on sale June 24 in the United States and four other countries. It will cost $199 for 16GB of storage and $299 for 32GB. Jobs said iPhone 4 will be “the thinnest smartphone on the planet” at 9.3 mm thick — 24 percent thinner than the iPhone 3GS, the company’s current model. The device will have a front-facing camera for video conferencing, and the camera on the back will have an LED flash, Jobs said. The phone will have a 5 megapixel camera with a backside illuminated sensor, which he said is fairly new to smartphones. The iPhone 4 will be redesigned with a glass back and metal around the sides. “Just gorgeous. And it’s really thin,” Steve Jobs said … Spotty Wi-Fi coverage inside the Moscone Center interrupted Jobs’ presentation several times. At one point he asked the audience to turn off their Wi-Fi base stations or he wouldn’t keep showing demos of the new phone … Jobs also announced three new iPhone entertainment apps: Karthik Bala, senior vice president at Activision, announced a new “Guitar Hero” app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, on sale today for $2.99. Mark Pincus, Zynga’s CEO, announced that FarmVille, the company’s wildly popular Facebook game, will have an iPhone app by the end of June. Jobs introduced Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who said Netflix is launching a free app for the iPhone, which will be available this summer and will let users download and watch movies on the go. Jobs described the Apple App Store as “the most vibrant app community on the planet,” with more than 225,000 apps available. He also defended Apple’s mysterious app-approval process, saying that 15,000 apps are submitted to Apple each week and 95 percent of those are approved within seven days. Jobs praised HTML5, which some believe will be the next standard for computer language. “HTML5 is a fully open, uncontrolled platform that is forged and defined by widely respected standards bodies,” he said. Jobs began his remarks by praising the success of his company’s iPad tablet computer. According to Jobs, Apple has sold more than 2 million iPads since the device went on sale two months ago. The iPad will be in 19 countries by the end of July, he said. More than 35 million iPad apps have been downloaded, or 17 apps per iPad sold. The iPad also appears to be catching on as an electronic reading device. In 65 days, iPad users have downloaded 5 million books — about 2.5 books per iPad, Jobs said.

Because we knew that the new iPhone would have a front-facing camera, it was pretty certain that the phone would offer video chat capabilities … the new functionality is called Face Time. Jobs had already announced the release of the new iOS 4 operating system so, really, there were no big surprises (well, OK, the HD video recording and inclusion of iMovie was a nice surprise) … all we really needed to know was how much would the phone cost and when would it be released. Last night, at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City here in SoCal, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards were handed out to … well, mostly to any and everyone remotely involved with The Twilight Saga: New Moon. We already know last night was a big night for Sandra Bullock who showed up at the MTV Movie Awards to collect this year’s Generation Award but, the affair was fun for the many celebs who made their way onto the red carpet last night … here are a few pics from the arrivals last night:

Last October we learned that INCREDIBLY HEARTBREAKING news that T.R. Just a few days ago, Rihanna was whooping it up with friends on a beach near Athens, Greece during a friendly game of volleyball. As you can see from the photos below, Ri Ri was having a fun time playing with friends … combat boots and all:

Even while relaxing on the beach, Rihanna’s unique sense of style shines through. The singer stripped off for a game of volleyball yesterday, but teamed her skimpy swimwear with a stout pair of work boots. The black leather footwear toughened up her white string bikini, which she wore with a sweater tied around her waist. Rihanna’s roadies, dancers and touring team joined the 22-year-old for the game in the picturesque setting of Cape Sounio beach. The American singer was taking a break from her gruelling world tour, after performing in Athens. Her boots are getting a lot of use, despite the warm weather in Greece. Rihanna wore them again as she arrived in Istanbul yesterday, ahead of her performance. This time she teamed the boots with a ruffled chiffon skirt and pistol motif T-shirt for a day-time look, then a hoodie and leggings for a shopping trip. Rihanna is currently on the road with her Last Girl On Earth tour – which began three weeks ago. After Turkey she heads to Spain to perform in Madrid.

Ah yes, Madrid … Rihanna did make her way to the Spanish city to perform at the Rock In Rio Festival there. When she took the stage, she showed off a colorful new look — which you can see, after the jump …
