Very very sad and heartbreaking news to pass along today … Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan has passed away. As you may sadly recall, Rue suffered a stroke after she underwent heart bypass surgery last November and since then has been recovering from her ailments. Rue celebrated her 76th birthday in February but, very sadly, her time with us has come to an end. I think I speak for many when I say that Rue McClanahan will be sorely missed:

Golden Girl Rue McClanahan, 76, has died. “She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning,” her manager, Barbara Lawrence, tells PEOPLE. She had a massive stroke.” McClanahan, who played Blanche Deveraux in the beloved sitcom, Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Lawrence added that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan “had her family with her. She went in peace.”

I am completely and utterly heartbroken by this news, especially by the fact that she suffered a “massive stoke” … that her manager reveals that Rue passed away in peace with her family beside her gives me some bit of comfort but … this is just extremely sad news. Rue McClanahan was an amazing woman, a talented actress and an honest to goodness friend to countless people. She brought laughter and happiness to so many in her 76 years … there will never be another like her. After Rue suffered her stroke late last year, I feared the worst … and the worst has finally happened. But I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that Rue will live on for all eternity in the hearts and minds of all the people she touched. But today is a sad, sad day … we’ve lost another Golden Girl (Estelle Getty passed away in 2008, Bea Arthur in 2009 and now Rue McClanahan in 2010). Rue, you are LOVED and will be missed :(

Early last week, new Mariah Carey pregnancy rumors surfaced after she decided — at the last minute, mind you — to pull out of appearing in a new Tyler Perry movie reportedly on the advice of her doctor. Since then, everyone has been wondering if Mimi is finally expecting her first child with hubby Nick Cannon. Yesterday, RadarOnline went so far as to “exclusively confirm” Mariah‘s pregnancy based on information they got from an “inside source”. Today, we learn that Nick posted a public comment on his official Twitter account to address the rumors personally … this is what he had to tweet:

If & when my wife is ready to make ANY announcements about private matters she will do it personally. Thanks for being respectful GodBless / My heart goes out to any woman who has to deal with public scrutiny and speculation pertaining to their private life REAL TALK!

And there you have it … REAL TALK! from Mr. Mariah Carey himself. To be fair, I can understand the man’s frustration … it must be really tiring to be the husband of someone so famous because I’d wager 98% of what he has to address is about his more famous wife, not him. As I’ve said all along I, for one, would LOVE to see Mimi become a new first time mom. I think she would make a fantastically beautiful pregnant woman. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if she is … or isn’t.

According to a new report making the rounds today, Jennifer Aniston is rumored to be joining her BFF and former Friends co-star Courteney Cox-Arquette in the upcoming sequel film Scream 4 (scheduled to begin filming in Michigan later in the year). Now, because this report originates from Star magazine, I’d suggest taking it with a sizeable grain of salt … but, it is entirely possible that Courteney convinced Jen to get in on the Scream fun so that the BFFs could work together again. Read on for the deets of this report but be warned, it contains supposed plot spoilers for a film that has yet to go into production:

In the June 14 issue of Star — on sale now — we report that Jennifer may be known for her romantic comedies, but she’s switching genres for her new role: a part in Scream 4! Jen will play a woman who’s killed off in the opening sequence, a trademark of the franchise — as a favor to BFF and Scream actress Courteney. The role will be similar to Drew Barrymore’s killer part in the first film. “Scream has always been an important part of Courteney’s life, and she wanted Jennifer to be a part of the production,” an insider tells Star. Courteney, her husband David Arquette and Neve Campbell will all reprise their roles in the next installment, which hits theatres in April 2011.

As much as I would LOVE to see Jennifer Aniston make a cameo in Scream 4, I don’t know that I can totally believe this report just yet. It seems to me that producers of the film — and Scream writer Kevin Williamson especially — would want to keep new of Scream 4‘s first victim a closely guarded secret for as long as they can. The fact that the movie has yet to go into filming production is a huge red flag … ans is the main reason why I can’t believe this report. Even still, it would be a nice coup for Scream 4 if they got Jennifer Aniston to appear in the film … even if only long enough to get murdered in the first few minutes. What do y’all think … will Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox-Arquette reunite on screen in Scream 4 or is this just too much wishful thinking on Star magazine’s part?

Yesterday we learned that Glee star Jane Lynch married her ladylove Lara Embry in a private Memorial Day wedding ceremony in Sunderland, MA and today we get to see a couple photos of the happy couple strolling the streets of NYC together yesterday afternoon. It’s unclear if the newlyweds are in NYC for their official honeymoon … but they sure look like a couple of very happy honeymooners:

Considering the long and very successful year that Lynch has enjoyed on Glee, I can totally understand that the couple may want to just lay low and enjoy quite, alonetime with one another at home in NYC for the first few weeks of their marriage. But, I gotta say, it would be fantastic if the Mrs. & Mrs. jetted off to some island locale so that they can sip Mai Tais on a sandy beach. Whatever the newlyweds decide to do, I wish them all the happiness in the world and hope they enjoy the best honeymoon ever … wherever in the world they decide to celebrate :D
