Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan finally made her much-ballyhooed appearance in court today to stand before judge Marsha Revel who is overseeing her ongoing DUI probation case stemming from her DUI conviction a few years ago. Earlier today we heard from Lindsay herself in her own words her reasons for missing court last week, but just moments ago Judge Revel got to hear those “reasons” in court. The judge put new restrictions on L. Lo, including the requirement that she wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet, and set another court date for July. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge outlined new bail conditions for Lindsay Lohan at a hearing Monday, including a bracelet to detect alcohol, a ban on drinking and random weekly drug testing. Lohan must also attend all of her alcohol classes as scheduled, unless the class interferes with her random drug tests, Judge Marsha Revel said. Lohan’s attorney said she is filming scenes for a movie in Texas, but Revel insisted, “It’s going to be drug testing here,” meaning in California. Lohan’s attorney, after conferring with her client, said she would accept the conditions. Prosecutor Danette Meyers asked for proof that Lohan had a ticket to fly back to the United States in time for last week’s hearing. Defense attorney Shawn Chapman Holley said she has the proof and will show it to the court. A formal probation violation hearing for Lohan was scheduled for July 6. Holley told Revel that Lohan missed her alcohol counseling session last week because her uncle died. “Did she go to the funeral?” Revel asked. “She did not,” Holley answered. Revel has given Lohan, 23, several second chances, but she appeared ready to lay down the law when Lohan missed Thursday’s hearing on her probation for a 2007 drunken driving conviction. Holley told the judge that Lohan was unable to catch a flight from France two days earlier because she lost her passport at the Cannes Film Festival. Thursday’s hearing was to determine whether Lohan had been attending weekly alcohol counseling sessions as ordered, but her absence prompted Revel to rule there that was “probable cause to believe [Lohan]) is in violation of probation.” The judge revoked Lohan’s probation, issued an arrest warrant and imposed new conditions. “I warned her before,” Revel said. “She knew it was very serious.” Lohan was not arrested when she finally arrived in Los Angeles from France on Saturday because her $100,000 bond had already been posted … Lohan was arrested twice in 2007 on charges of driving under the influence and in the second incident she was also charged with cocaine possession. The first arrest came after Lohan lost control of her Mercedes-Benz convertible and struck a curb in Beverly Hills. Just two weeks after checking out of a Malibu drug and alcohol rehab facility, she was arrested again in July 2007 after a woman called Santa Monica police, saying Lohan was trying to run her down with a car.

I mean, yeah, we knew that Lindsay wasn’t going to be thrown in jail and it was very unlikely that she’d be forced into rehab … these new restrictions were to be expected. At least, tho, this gives Lindsay a chance to straighten herself out (at least for a short while) in order to show the court she can comply with these restrictions. It remains to be seen if Lindsay will actually fully comply (ie. NO booze at all) and, if not, how Judge Revel will react … but she does have a chance to do the right thing. Will she be able to do so? I suppose it’s anyone’s guess.
