As I mentioned yesterday, I spent part of my Friday eagerly awaiting the delivery of my new Apple iPad 3G … and once it arrived, I spent the rest of my day getting to know my shiny new toy. There is a bit of a learning curve with the iPad, I’ve determined, in that you can’t just plug it in and it becomes a larger iPhone. There are a many differences between the iPad and the iPhone and I now know it will take me a bit of time to get used to working on my iPad:

I definitely plan on doing a more substantive review of the iPad after I spend a bit of time with it. I will say that typing on the iPad is light years better than typing on the iPhone (and going back to the smaller device after playing with the larger device was a bit jarring). But, again, I’ll need to spend a bit more time playing with the iPad to have a better sense of the pros and cons of the device.
David and I met up with our good friend Gillian for dinner last night and we spent a lot of time catching up with one another … spent even more time going thru a couple bottles of wine ;) As always, we had a fantastic time with Gillian … so much so that we’re meeting her for brunch this afternoon.
I need to get my ass out to see A Nightmare on Elm Street at some point … hopefully today … but the weather is so beautiful, I kinda want to be outside, too! It’s May Day, y’all! Happy Beltaine and Happy Weekend!!

ooh! I will look forward to your review! Getting a real person`s opinion on a device like this and it`s functionality would be great to hear!
I love my iPhone so when they announced the iPad I was pretty excited, but the thought of paying double for 3G every month and having to purchase the keyboard to type properly is too much for me. I’d rather just get a laptop.
Did the keyboard come with it?
I’m pondering replacing my broken iTouch with an iPad when it comes out here in the UK, definitely wouldn’t bother with 3G though! The idea of it being like a larger portable web browser around the house is the draw for me. I mostly used my iTouch for surfing the internet and checking Facebook around the house, rather than sitting at my iMac all the time.
Eager to hear your thoughts about the device.
But pleeease don’t tell us your using it “to work”. It’s a consum-only device.
Hm, of course when you consider surfing the web in order to find some news for your site, you sort of “work” with it :)
Just curious—seems you have a new phone, computer, SideKick, etc. every 2 months! How many devices/gadgets do you have boy! LOL
