‘Lost’ Ends Tonight

Welp … the day has finally come. The series finale of Lost airs tonight on ABC and after 6 years of baffling questions, all will be revealed and resolved TONIGHT! Well, okay … maybe not all will be revealed because I cannot see how any show with such a huge and sprawling story like Lost can be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction in just one 2-hour episode. Now, I’ve had my ups and downs with the show over the years … after falling madly in love with the mysterious intrigue in those first 2 seasons, my frantic fandom slowly cooled over the next 4 years. That being said, I have to give the show props for coming out of nowhere to grab the attention of the whole world for so long. Lost will surely go down in pop culture as one of the most intriguing shows in all of television history … but can we really expect everything to be resolved tonight? According to the following report … no. But the producers of Lost insist that the answers will come … a little bit down the line:

Lost fans are already sweating the prospect that Sunday’s series won’t resolve their favorite pet mystery or most burning question. For those left wanting, there is hope: EW has confirmed a TV Guide report that the producers plan to address a selection of baffling bits of unfinished business on the season 6 DVD, which goes on sale in August. An ABC insider says the set will include “new content that addresses some of the unanswered questions in an entertaining way,” though disputed reports that there could be as much as 20 minutes worth of mystery-resolution material. While Lost die-hards probably needed no incentive to invest in the DVD, the promise of extra revelation will no doubt increase the chances that they will make the purchase the second it becomes available. What do you think of the move? On one hand, I can see fans feeling grateful that producers are looking out for their interests. On the other hand, I can see them irked that none of the DVD stuff was in the (free-to-watch) show.

Blah. I can’t say I’m at all interested in paying for answers to a show that I’ve invested so much time watching but I can’t say that I blame the Lost folks for wanting to milk as much as they can from this hugely successful show. My focus right now can only be on the series finale which will air tonight. I’m quite confident that I will not be fully satisfied by what will air tonight but, then again, I think I can be OK with that. A show like Lost depends on what the viewer brings to the story based on their experience of the story … it kind of relies on the fact that not everything will be revealed. As annoying as that may sound, I get it. While I have not been at all impressed with much of where the Lost mythos took me, I do not regret going along for the ride. The show was such a phenomenon in those early seasons, I cannot forget that. Whether I am fully satisfied by tonight’s series finale isn’t the point. That I will be able to say that I stuck with Lost thru thick and thin seems more relevant to me. There is a satisfaction in having a sense of accomplishment. Lost will come to end and I’ll be there to bear witness. And who knows … after all the twists and turns that we’ve enduring thru 6 years of Lost, we may end up finding out that it was only a dream. Are YOU excited for tonight’s series finale of Lost? What are YOU expecting to happen?

Robert Pattinson Hones His Circus Acting

On Friday we got our first look at Robert Pattinson (and co-star Reese Witherspoon) on the SoCal set of his new film Water for Elephants which has just gone into production and today we get another, closer look at the British heartthrob on set. These photos not only give us a better look at R. Pattz‘s new shorter hair’do but we also get a much better look at the set of this new film … behold:

Quite a few Pink readers inform me that the book Water for Elephants written by Sara Gruen is a fantastic read … so I may have to pick up a copy and see for myself. Whether or not this movie adaptation of the novel is for me, I can appreciate that R. Pattz appears interested in expanding his acting résumé to playing more than just sparkly vampire characters. I really respect the guy for staying true to his craft and working in films outside of The Twilight Saga movie franchise. Lord knows he is rich enough to never work again from just his work in Twilight so his commitment to appearing in other films of substance shows that he is serious about his acting craft. I mean, how can you not respect a young actor with this kind of drive?

The TV Guide
Family Ties

Firstly, I must send lots of love and thanks to all the well-wishers who have been sending in their messages of condolence and support in the past week and especially yesterday. As I mentioned before, yesterday was devoted as a day of memorial for Michael Kora III … father and friend to many. The entire day was filled with a stream of family, friends and well-wishers who came to his memorial service yesterday to pay their respects:

While it was a very emotional day, it was also a time to celebrate the life of a man who touched so many. I was honored to be here to show my support for the Kora family and truly feel blessed to have known the man we called Pseudo. The pain of death can be a lasting one but I really think yesterday’s memorial service proved to be a very cathartic experience for Pseudo‘s family and friends. We shared stories and remembrances with one another and just focused the entire day on the life of a man who gave so much to so many.

My trip home to Detroit was far too quick, I fly back to LA in a few hours. But it was an honor and privilege to be home for Pseudo‘s memorial and I wouldn’t be anywhere else in the world. I am very much looking forward to my next visit home to Michigan, hopefully under much happier circumstances.

See y’all from the West Side tomorrow :)

Weekend Hotness
Hot Dude Of The Week: Ryan Barry

I think it’s time for a little bit of Hot Dude fun, don’t you? Today’s Hot Dude of the Week was photographed by Bradford Rogne to promote the upcoming Pool Party Fundraiser which will raise funds for Equality California which will take place in LA on Memorial Day weekend. In a pair of sexy little square cut shorts designed by CA-RIO-CA especially for the Equality California Memorial Day Pool Party, Hot Dude Ryan Barry is lookin’ ready for some wet and wild fun:

I can’t think of a better way to help fund an important cause like Equality California, who strives to fight for the legal rights of the GLBT community, than with a pool party with a bunch of hotties. Ryan Barry has been featured here on Pink is the new Blog before (he is a really great guy) so I’m happy to feature him again as this week’s Hot Dude … for a good cause! Dang, now I kinda wanna be in a pool right now. Any one else wantin’ to get wet? Enjoy!!

Chewbacca Throws Out The Ceremonial First Pitch

In continued celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars character Chewbacca was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium last night to start the Dodgers vs. the Detroit Tigers baseball game. Even tho Chewy is a good guy, he came along with a little support and protection from the bad guys:

But, in fine Wookie fashion, Chewbacca did his duty at last night’s game and pitched the ball as hard as he could:

And just how far can a Wookie like Chewbacca hurl a baseball? After the jump, check out a video that shows exactly what kind of force goes into a Wookie-pitched baseball …

Michael Lohan To Launch His Own Energy Drink

Michael Lohan, estranged father of Lindsay Lohan who has recently been on a crusade to see his troubled daughter thrown in to jail/rehab or placed under court-ordered conservatorship, took a break from feasting off of his daughter’s notorious legal woes to announce the release of his very own energy drink. Lohan has partnered up with fitness guru John Koga to launch Koga Energy Drink, which is due to hit “9000 stores” this Summer:

Michael Lohan is putting his daughter Lindsay’s troubles aside and teaming up with fitness expert John Koga to launch Koga Energy Shots along with Stacker 2. The slogan for the 6-hour power shot is priceless … “Feel it fast. Energy that lasts. No crash.” Lohan tells X17 exclusively, “John Koga has been a friend of mine for years. I just signed a major deal to be a part of this new Koga energy drink. Right off the bat, it’s going to be sold in 9000 stores. Koga Energy Shot will be out by this summer. We’re also doing a line of clothing and workout gear to go along with it.” After the week Michael’s had, something tells us he’ll be pounding a case of those shots! As for Lindsay, he tells us, “She needs Koga in her life. It’ll help her focus.” FYI…KOGA also stands for kickboxing and yoga.

LMAOO!! You knew that Daddy Lohan couldn’t go 5 seconds without mentioning his famous daughter’s name … especially when he’s got a new product to try and promote. I guess Michael has come to realize that fighting his daughter in the press doesn’t always pay the bills. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to partner with Michael Lohan on any business endeavor … if there is one thing that would absolutely make me run SCREAMING from any product, it’s an association with Michael Lohan. I suppose we should be happy that he appears to have a real job at least … that’s kinda something, right? What do y’all think … would YOU spend your hard-earned money on this new energy drink of Daddy Lohan‘s?

Baller
Jake Gyllenhaal Roots For The Celtics Courtside In Boston

On Friday we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal, who stars in the upcoming action film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (due out in theaters next Friday May 28), made a surprise appearance at a fan screening of his new film in SoCal last week but he was spotted in Boston, MA sitting courtside at last night’s NBA Eastern Conference Championship game featuring the Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic. Here are a few photos of our dear Jakey poo lookin’ his Jakey-adorable best last night:

Despite the fact that he is seen chattin’ up one of the players from the Orlando Magic team, Jake made it very clear that he was rootin’ for the Boston Celtics to win the Eastern Conference Championship so that they can face the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals next month. After the jump, check out a short video interview that Jake did with ESPN where he talked a little bit about where his basketball loyalties lie …

Time to pay the piper
Lindsay Lohan Returns To SoCal From Cannes

Lindsay Lohan, as you may be well aware, is in a bit of trubs these days in the wake of having a bench warrant put out for her arrest for failing to appear in court as ordered because she was off partying with friends at the 2010 Cannes International Film Festival last week. Altho her bail had been paid (thereby ensuring that she would not be arrested upon returning to the US from France), pretty much everyone has been waiting for her arrival back in SoCal so that she can finally make her way to court to stand before the judge overseeing her ongoing DUI case as ordered. Today we learn, at last, that Lindsay has finally made her way back home … she arrived at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, CA last night around 7pm local time lookin’ no worse for the wear:

I understand that L. Lo is due in court bright and early tomorrow morning. I still contend that she will face no real punishment for her actions this week … but at least she is home again, within reach of the long arm of the law. After the jump watch DRAMATIC video of Lindsay’s arrival back in SoCal …

Shows off his really big gun
David Beckham Visits British Troops In Afghanistan

Soccer stud David Beckham, who we last saw home in SoCal doing a bit of grocery shopping with his family last week, has made his way to Afghanistan to pay a visit to the British troops who are stationed there. Becks, who will be making his way to South Africa soon to be in the World Cup soccer tournament as a member of the English Team, decided to make a pass thru Afghanistan to spend time with and thank the brave soldiers serving there. Here are a couple of photos and some deets from his visit:

David Beckham paid tribute today to the “amazing” work of British troops in Afghanistan during a visit to the country. The footballer posed for pictures and signed autographs for troops in Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, where around 9,000 British soldiers are based. In temperatures hitting 45C the player was shown round the camp and even given a lesson in how to handle weapons. ‘You know I’ve been here just one night so far and the experience has been even more than I could have ever hoped,’ he said in an interview with BFBS: British Forces News. To see the morale of the troops is really incredible. It first kind of hit me on the way over when we were on the military plane flying in to Afghanistan. You can see the faces, you can see obviously they know they are leaving their families, but they’re so focused and they’ve got this look in their eyes that they’re just so confident and just ready. ‘That really is an unbelievable sight to see, and you feel it as well.’ Beckham started his day with full English breakfast in the cookhouse before taking part in a question and answer session with troops, signing autographs and visiting the camp’s hospital. Squadron Leader Sarah Charters, who runs the emergency unit at the hospital, told him about the work they do. She said: ‘A visit like this means a lot to everyone here. It is an absolute honour to work in an environment like this where I know I am contributing to help save lives and David’s visit reminds everyone at home of what we actually do here.’ Beckham also received a lesson in weapon handling from Craftsman Bob Floy, from Doncaster, who showed him how to use different weapons including a heavy machine gun. With temperatures in the camp reaching 45C (113F), the star then visited the HQ of 40 Commando where he joined senior officers cooling off their feet in a paddling pool. [Beckham] also visited 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles and took part in a penalty challenge with them, and scored with his only attempt … He said: “Just yesterday one of the troops was killed, and you feel it and you see the flags at half-mast and you feel the tension there. It really is, like I said, amazing to be around but you feel the love from everybody. ‘It just really is scary work. These guys are the bravest people that I’ve ever met and it really is, it truly is, an honour to be here.’

This is so amazing to see … that Becks would take the time to make his way to such a dangerous battle zone to spread as much cheer and goodwill as he can to these brave British troops is really something. It truly sounds like Becks was humbled by the experience and may now have a greater appreciation for the service and sacrifice of all military personnel. I kinda also love that Becks decided to learn how to handle big machinery and I really love that he was happy to show off his big gun ;) After the jump, check out a few more fun photos from Becks‘s visit with these troops …
