Last week we learned that Janet Jackson has reportedly started up a romantic relationship a new man and today we get to see her out and about in London hand-in-hand with her new man. Janet was spotted with her Qatari industralist Wissam Al Mana as the couple made their way out of a restaurant in the Mayfair district of London yesterday. While news of Janet‘s new man is interesting enough, the fact that she was showing off a short new hair’do is just as interesting. Hailing from one of the world’s pre-eminent musical families, Janet Jackson is used to being recognised wherever she goes. But the singer left bystanders doing a double-take yesterday as she stepped out for lunch in London with a dramatic new hairstyle. Janet has had her long curly locks shorn off and is now sporting a new short crop which she wore in a slicked back, gelled style. Perhaps the change was prompted by the new man in her life, wealthy Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana. It has not been confirmed that the pair are an item but she’s certainly been doing a lot of wining and dining with the 35-year-old industrialist. Yesterday, they were at Italian restaurant Cecconi’s in Mayfair and last night they dropped in to Nobu Berkeley. For both jaunts, the RnB star, 44, teamed her look with turned-up jeans, a black leather jacket and platform wedge heels. Jackson split from her long-time boyfriend Jermaine Dupri last summer after a seven-year relationship.

While it’s true that there has been no official confirmation of a new relationship for Janet (and really, don’t expect one … Janet Jackson is infamous for never, ever talking about her personal romantic relationships) sources tell RadarOnline that the couple are, indeed, an item:

“The singer and actress is in an exclusive relationship with Wissam Al Mana,” reveals a source close to the couple. “Janet’s new love is a 35-year-old wealthy industrialist from Qatar and has homes worldwide.” Wissam is the young managing director of Al Mana Retail, a luxury corporate group in the Middle East. After splitting from longtime beau, Jermaine Dupri, after a seven-year relationship last summer, Jackson has eased into her new romance.

Last month, you may recall, Entertainment Weekly featured Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back on the cover of their magazine in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary … but last night, here in SoCal, the film screened in front of a special audience not only to celebrate their 30 years but also to raise much needed funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Empire stars like Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams and Peter Mayhew (who played Chewbacca in all of the Star Wars films) were joined by fellow Star Wars alum Ewan McGregor and Darth Vader himself at last night’s event. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals and some deets about this very special benefit screening:

Harrison Ford drew the crowds at a Star Wars reunion in LA. The actor, who played Han Solo in the sci-fi films, was joined by Billy Dee Williams, Peter Mayhew and Ewan McGregor for an event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. The special screening took place at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood and was held to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Ford, 67, admitted he is slightly out of touch with the movie sequel. “I have not seen it for 30 years,” revealed the star. Explaining why he signed up to the George Lucas features he said: “I was in it for the money. I was an actor and I was looking for a job and looking for an opportunity. I had a family to feed.” Ewan McGregor, meanwhile, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in three prequels to the original series, has revealed he still has a crush on a Star Wars character he fell for as a kid. The Scottish actor said: “I’ve spent a great many years being deeply, deeply in love with Princess Leia. “There’s still a part of my heart that is quite deeply in love with her – both as a character and an actress.”

I understand that tickets for last night’s event were in the hundreds but, as is mentioned above, all of the proceeds went to St. Jude Children’s Hospital … a very worthy cause, I think. After the movie screened last night, some of these celebs were on hand to participate in a Q&A with the audience … which I bet was insanely cool. It’s crazy to think that Empire is already 30 years old but it’s a film that deffo stands up to the test of time. The entire Star Wars saga continues to entertain audiences today just like it did all those years ago. I absolutely believe that we will be celebrating many more anniversaries for the SW films for many years to come.

Last week we learned that Paris Hilton is prepping to release her 10th celebrity fragrance so Jessica is gonna hafta get a move on it if she wants to stay competitive in the celebrity smell game. I gotta say, tho, that it seems unwise for Jess to advertise that this new Fancy Nights smell is an expression of her “romantic side”, especially considering how unlucky in love she tends to be. BUT, perhaps Fancy Nights will be just the trick to help YOU snag that special someone.

Britney Spears is still hard at work on her planned upcoming album (which, thus far, has no release date scheduled … tho, my guess is that it will be released this Fall) as she was spotted making her way out of a recording studio here in SoCal yesterday afternoon. Britney‘s mother, Lynne Spears, accompanied Brit Brit to the studio and was spotted in her company yesterday as well … behold:

Firstly, it’s nice to see Mama Lynne is back in town … I’m certain both Britney and her young sons are happy to have Lynne in town. Secondly, I am THRILLED to know that Britney is still working feverishly on her new album. I’ve been hearing many rumors about the upcoming disc concerning which producers she’s working with, what the sound of the album may be … it’s all very exciting. Thirdly, I just gotta love a woman who shares my love for McDonald’s. All in all … I’m lovin’ these pics!!
