Earlier today we saw photos of Reese Witherspoon and her new agent beau Jim Toth enjoying some alonetime in Ojai, CA over the weekend and right now we get to see photos of Ryan Phillippe doing daddy duty with their children Ava Elizabeth and Deacon Reese Saturday afternoon in in LA:

Now, because it was very hot in SoCal over the weekend (I hear), Ryan didn’t keep his black overshirt on for long. As soon as the heat got to him, the shirt came off and — well — this is what he looked like:

Yay!! I’m so glad things are heating up in SoCal these days … because as the temps go up, the clothing comes off and we get to enjoy more photos like this :) I am really looking forward to the coming Summer … wee!! Oh and thanks for the pick me up, Ryan!!

Here are a couple of cute photos of Hugh Jackman enjoying a leisurely afternoon yesterday with his children Oscar Maximillian and Ava Eliot in NYC, NY. As you can see, the little fam spent part of their afternoon bike riding and push scooting together … behold:

I can attest, yesterday was a spectacularly beautiful day in NYC so I’m certain the family had LOTS of amazing weather to enjoy. Altho Ava looks a bit perturbed in her photo, I know that the kids had a great time with their every doting daddy. I mean … how could they not? Hugh was wearing shorts and everything! Looks like a helluva good time to me :)

In early April, we saw the first photos of new couple Brody Jenner and the just-divorced Avril Lavigne lookin’ all coupley in public … today we get to see new pictures of the pair out and about seeming ready to tell the world that they are SO together. Here are pics of Bravril flaunting their love for anyone to see:

Okay … so maybe they’re not so much “flaunting” as they are just “walking side-by-side like any two people walking side-by-side together” but still … you just know they are SO together. As secretive as these two have been about their creepin’ around, I’m thinkin’ this is a signal that they are finally comfortable being seen together out and about. While I still think this is a very weird match, I wish them the best. I guess it was only a matter of time before Brody hooked up with a divorcée … right?

Over the weekend the Beckham family (the entire lot of them) were spotted enjoying the free outdoor concert thrown by the Jonas Brothers at The Grove in Los Angeles, CA but that’s not the only place they’ve popped up en masse over the weekend. David Beckham, wifey Victoria Beckham and their sons were also spotted doing a bit of … grocery shopping. Now, if I had the moolah that the Beckhams obviously do, I’d leave the menial chores to the help … but I guess this proves that Les Beckhams like to live just like the rest of us:

It’s what most children dread on a Saturday afternoon – a trip to the supermarket with Mum and Dad. But the Beckham boys actually appeared to be enjoying themselves as they accompanied parents David, 35, and Victoria, 36, to a Whole Foods Market in Los Angeles this weekend. Even Victoria, who probably feels more at home in a shoe shop than in a fruit and veg aisle, seemed to be interested in what was on offer – although by all accounts, it would be David serving up the family meal that night. Having worked up an appetite watching the Jonas Brothers perform at their local shipping centre, the famous family headed off to the shops and browsed through the aisles picking out fruit, vegetables, soft drinks and herbs, no doubt choosing what to have for their dinner that evening. And all three boys – Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and five-year-old Cruz – took a keen interest in what was being bought, joining their parents to help them choose items to buy. But it looked like the family had stocked up for the whole week judging from the packed trolley that David wheeled out to the car. Having spent the last few months nursing a torn Achilles tendon, David has had time on his hands to find a new hobby. And from reports, it would seem that he has been spending lots of time in the kitchen learning and creating new dishes.

Awww … look at them … trying to be all normal and shizz. Actually, I’ve also heard that Becks has been taking cooking lessons from his friend and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay … maybe he is the one who does all the cooking for fam. Whatever the case may be, I kinda love that we can now add Whole Foods as one of the places we might run into the family out in the wild, among the common folk. Gotta love those Beckhams for keepin’ it real, yo!

Christina Aguilera is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Out magazine. In this coverstory interview, Xtina talks to Out about the inspiration behind her new album Bionic … and Out talks to some of Xtina‘s music collaborators (including the amazing Sia) as part of the coverstory as well. Christina Aguilera, now 29, lives in Ozzy Osbourne’s old house right off the Sunset Strip with her 2-year-old kid, Max Liron, her husband Jordan “Jordy” Bratman, and a platoon of Latinos who dust, Swiffer, sweep, and generally keep the manor. The house has been thoroughly Aguilerized with zebra- and leopard-print carpets and Shepard Fairey prints that scream Obey from the walls. The doorknobs, at least, are holdovers from the Osbourne era, heavy iron affairs with Gothic crosses on them. The other holdover is the recording studio, a converted pool house past a courtyard full of teak gazebos, lightly melted Buddha-head candles, and a sad Kermit doll lying face down in the pool like Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard. The pool house is where Aguilera recorded most of her new album and where the singer is now curled up, Betty Page style, on a sofa, with those famous red lips wrapped around a Ricola … the cover of her new album, Bionic, features a D*Face portrait of Aguilera, one half of her face notably Marilyn Monrovian, the other a robotic consortium of gramophones and Edison bulbs. Her bright red Rocky Horror lips are the bridge that connects the two halves. Bionic does not logically follow from her last album or the one before that. From pop tart to Angry Young Woman (Stripped) to Marilyn Monroe (Back to Basics), the sequence of Aguilera’s sound is as wild as the wind. Her voice is a mercenary, one of the perks — and pitfalls — of being a versatile medium. “Every album has been a 180 from the past,” she admits. “On Bionic, I wanted to go completely futuristic. As a new mother, I was thinking about the future generation, so I was inspired a lot by electronic music.” When she began the album, Aguilera put out a call to artists whose work she found simpatico, an unexpected cavalcade including underground faves Le Tigre, Goldfrapp, and Ladytron. “It’s a gamble,” Aguilera says of the cattle call. “You never really know who’s going to get it and who’s not.” Sia Furler, professionally known as Sia and as the best Australian queer blue-eyed soul singer, got it. Her contribution to the album—four songs written with her bassist, Sam Dixon—is what Aguilera calls, “the heart of the album.” One song in particular, a raw, shuffling, vocally demanding Etta James–type ballad called “You Lost Me,” is not only the heart of the album but a defining apex of Aguilera’s career. Those four minutes alone are enough to ensure Aguilera’s place alongside Nina Simone and Whitney Houston in the soul pantheon. In its simple progression, Aguilera finds a song strong enough to withstand the blistering power of her voice. Sia’s words, stricken with the grief of abandonment and betrayal, release Aguilera’s voice, ranging from a deep, defiant growl to a lonely, high, vaporlike whisper. “The things she can do with her voice are insane,” says Sia, “but I really like it when she’s doing less of the squiggly diddlying. There were times when I’d just say ‘I think you should just sing it straight.’ I feel most able to identify with her and her vulnerability when she just sings simply with that amazing tone of hers.” As in “Beautiful,” written for her by former 4 Non Blonde Linda Perry, the grain of Aguilera’s voice is audible in “You Lost Me.” It crackles like an old phonograph at times, gathers itself up and takes to the keep in others. It breathes and sighs and writhes. It’s too big to fail but not too proud to falter. “It was hard for me. I really am a perfectionist,” says Aguilera. “I like to perfect a vocal and really make sure of every note. Even if it’s good I’ll go in to see if I get a better one. But when I get in studio with people like Linda or Sia, I’m able just to find inspiration inside the music in a different way. I can find the beauty in the imperfections.”

Of all the interviews that Xtina has done thus far to promote Bionic, this is the best of them. She really talks about the hows and whys of the album’s creation and gives us, in words, a really good understanding of what we can expect from the disc. Judging by the collaborators she worked with alone, I’m already a fan of Bionic. UGH … I cannot even express what a hellacious day David and I have been having since yesterday. We missed being able to check into our flight by 2 minutes and Delta — which was oversold all day long — couldn’t get us back home at all yesterday. We ended up having to stay at a horrible airport motel in Jamaica Queens, NY for the night … this is our view:

We were able to book travel on a Jet Blue plane (always to the rescue) tonight so we’re trying to get as much work done at this motel as we can before we have to leave for the airport (again, another apology as I may not be able to write up as many posts as usual). All of this travel mess, coupled with the ONGOING server issues with my website (which is why many of you are getting 404 Error messages and/or cannot comment or read full/older posts) AND the sad news going on at home in Detroit has really got me at my wit’s end. I’ve wanted to fall apart and break down on numerous occasions … my only saving grace has been David and his level head. He has been taking care of everything … our travel woes, my tech problems and offering support emotionally … I don’t know what I would’ve done without him. Our woes aren’t over yet but … hopefully soon.

Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of W magazine. Without question, Cate is my fave actress right now. She consistently turns in stellar performances in all her films and truly appears to be one of the most thankful, most humble women in Hollywood. Here is Cate‘s W mag coverphoto and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

On her inaccurate public perception: “I’m so misunderstood! I’m not focused on what other people think of me. Some people get you and some people don’t, and to spend your life trying to make people understand how deep and complex and varied you are—I think that way lies madness.”

On her husband’s influence: “My husband keeps me really honest. I remember him saying to me after I made Elizabeth, ‘Sweetheart, you’ve probably got about about five years.’ He was preparing me for the time when the work dries up, as it invariably does.”

Blanchett’s husband, playwright Andrew Upton, on his wife as a coworker: “She challenges, but she’s not aggressive. I can tend to be a bit scattergun. She’s quite practical in the end, so I often just fire off, and she’ll sort of pick up the pieces or choose the best bits. She would be the first and pretty much only person I would seriously seek counsel from. We’re fairly brutal with each other.”

On working with her husband: “We’re really open. I have friends—she’s an actor/writer married to a director—and she was horrified when we said we were going to work together. She said they don’t talk about work because they don’t want to venture into the territory of being criticized by you partner. But I know what to do with the criticism.”

Cate Blanchett is truly an amazing artist. She has to be the most accomplished woman in show business right now. It’s absolutely uncanny how naturally she morphs from one character to the next … it’s really amazing. You can bet that Cate is in a film, I will be seeing that film … she always delivers, every single time. Oh and can we talk about how beautiful she is? While big sister Kylie Minogue is bizzy showing off her conically-enhanced boobs, little sister Dannii Minogue was bizzy showing off her baby bump with her babydaddy Kris Smith on Greville St. in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend … here are a couple of cute pics of Dannii, Kris and Bump:

As you may know, Dannii is due to bring forth the fruit of her loins in July so it looks like she is coming along nicely. I love how fabulously stylish she looks even this far along in her pregnancy. I am so happy for her and the expansion of her family … I know she is going to be a fab mum. Ugh, how lucky can a kid be … hot parents and Kylie Minogue as a doting aunt? I should be so lucky … lucky, lucky, lucky.

Kylie Minogue has released a new promo image in support of her upcoming new album Aphrodite due out in early July … and in this new photo she is channeling the one and only Madonna. Kylie is rocking the iconic conical bra, designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and famously worn by Madge in her Express Yourself music video and during her Blonde Ambition Tour, in this fab new promo photo … behold:

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Kylie Minogue must be hoping Madonna feels that way when she sees her trademark conical bra style from 20 years ago recreated by the same designer. Miss Minogue, right, donned the daring Jean-Paul Gaultier number to promote her 11th album Aphrodite, out this summer. Looking far younger than her 41 years, she teamed it with the designer’s high-waisted satin trousers and a slashed strappy top. The futuristic outfit is a slightly more conservative version of the iconic look he created for Madonna in 1990 – a gold conical bra corset and fishnet tights which caused a stir on the Blonde Ambition tour and became one of her bestknown images. It’s not the only thing Kylie has borrowed. All the Lovers, the first track on her album, is produced by Stuart Price, who has worked with Madonna.

I like this pic but while Kylie looks faboo in it, it’s impossible not to immediately associate the look with Madonna. She truly made this cone bra thing hers in the early 90′s so I have to believe that Kylie is very obviously paying homage to her in this new promo pic. Even still, it works … she looks amazing and I am SO excited to see more promo stuff from Kylie as the release date for her new album nears. We may have already gotten to hear Kylie‘s new single All the Lovers … but I’m dying to hear more!!!
