Christina Aguilera spent her Mother’s Day with her husband Jordan Bratman, her son Max Liron and her younger brother Michael in NYC yesterday (braving the chilly weather together) and today announced that she is going on tour to support her upcoming new album Bionic! Christina Aguilera, songwriter, actress, philanthropist and one of the greatest singers of her generation, has confirmed her highly anticipated return to the stage with a global tour. Aguilera, who releases her new album Bionic on June 8, announces 20 North American dates starting on July 15. The singer will be joined by British pop chanteuse Leona Lewis. Tickets go on sale May 21, and all fans who purchase tickets before June 4 will receive a download code for a digital copy the album on June 7, the day before its official release. Before Aguilera takes her act on the road, she’ll appear on the MTV Movie Awards on June 6th, the Today Show Summer Concert Series on June 8th (the same day of her album’s release), Late Show with David Letterman on June 9th, Live! With Regis & Kelly on June 10th, The Early Show on Friday, June 11th, the Today Weekend Show on Saturday, June 12th, VH1 Storytellers on June 13th and a surprise appearance or two in the coming weeks.

It’s been a few months since we’ve seen or heard of Lance Bass being involved with any special guy in particular … but today, The New York Post is reporting that Bass has been cozying up to Kyan Douglas (of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fame) in recent weeks. According to the newspaper, Lance and Kyan have been spotting in very close proximity to one another in both San Francisco, CA and NYC, NY. Thus far, there’s been no photographic proof but I suppose it’s entirely possible that these two guys have been creepin’ around together:

Chelsea may have another new It couple. We hear that Lance Bass is spending quality time with “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” grooming expert Kyan Douglas. The pair have been spotted getting affectionate in New York and San Francisco, but the match is fairly new. “Lance admitted to having a bad track record with friends and asked everyone what they thought of Kyan,” said a friend. “We all assured him Kyan is ‘good people.’ Kyan asked Lance out.” A spokeswoman for Bass said, “We do not comment on our clients’ personal lives.”

Aww … these two would make a really cute pair! I can totally see these two making a go of it. That being said, I find it hard to believe that Lance is really lookin’ to settle down but it would be nice to see him with a nice guy like Kyan. Perhaps these two will be photographed together soon … if they are really planning to make a go of it, they’re gonna have to smile for the cameras at some point.

Cynthia Nixon, who plays the fierce and fabulous Miranda Hobbes in the upcoming sequel film Sex and the City 2 (which opens in theaters here in the US on May 27), is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of The Advocate magazine. In her coverstory interview, Cynthia talks about falling in love with her fiancée Christine Marinoni and reveals that she would do almost anything for Sex and the City director Michael Patrick King (including going nude on film). Here is our first look at Cynthia‘s Advocate cover and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

For years, people on the street have been calling her “Miranda,” the cynical, type A lawyer Cynthia Nixon made famous on HBO’s Sex and the City. Six years later, now that she’s come out as gay, survived breast cancer, and stepped up as a marriage equality activist, her fans now recognize her for her. In her new interview with The Advocate, Nixon talks about her slow coming-out after she began dating her now-fiancée, Christine Marinoni. After the couple had spent many months together, the press started speculating about their relationship. Nixon hired a publicist who warned her to stay out of the headlines. Uncomfortable with that route, Nixon soon turned to Kelly Bush, an openly gay publicist. Bush suggested Nixon confirm the rumors, and that is just what she did. “I was like, ‘Really, we can just confirm?’” Nixon tells The Advocate. “So that’s just what we did. It was so fantastic.” Freshly out, and with two children from her relationship with Danny Mozes, Nixon integrated Marinoni into her life and her family. “She’s like a short man with boobs,” Nixon says of Marinoni. “A lot of what I love about her is her butchness. I’m not saying I fell in love with her in a sexually neutral way. I love her sexuality — it’s a big part of what I love about her — but I feel like it was her.” Nixon’s children also quickly adapted to the new relationship, not that her son’s processing started at school. “His teachers were just so great about it,” Nixon notes, “because they were the first people that started referring to ‘Charlie’s moms,’ which is so lovely, and we really hadn’t done that yet. So Charlie came home one day and he said [to Marinoni], ‘You’re my mommy too!’” With a healthy family life and having overcome breast cancer, in 2008 Nixon opened up about her battle and her first big-screen nude scene. Showing her breasts, in a big way, was not a political response to the cancer battle. “They didn’t know about it at the time. Generally, my thoughts are, if they ask me to do [a nude scene], I’ll do one,” Nixon proclaims. “I mean, I won’t do anything, but I feel like if Michael Patrick [King] wants me to do it, there’s a reason he wants me to do it.”

Miranda Hobbes has always been one of my favorite female TV characters and I think Cynthia Nixon plays her to a tee. It’s plainly evident to me that Cynthia has many of the same strong traits that Miranda has but manages to utilize them successfully in the real world. I love how Cynthia just lives her life openly, honestly and without any sense of worry. She has managed to enjoy a successful career and build a truly happy and loving family with her children and Christine. She is a role model that young women can deffo look up to. Here are a couple of really cute photos of Britney Spears spending part of her Mother’s Day weekend with her young sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. Brit Brit was on hand to pick up her boys from their karate lesson in Studio City, CA this past Saturday afternoon … behold:

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen Britney and the boys out and about. I totally love that the little guys are taking karate lessons. If they stick with it, they’ll learn very valuable lessons about themselves and their study will help them grow into well-rounded young men. Kids this age tend to lose interest in many things but I think it would be really cool if the Spears boys grew up to be karate masters. Then they could defend their mama from all the haters. In any event, these are super cute pics … I hope we get to see more of Britney and her young karate kids in the weeks to come.

For Mother’s Day yesterday we decided to surprise David’s mom at brunch here in the city. His parents were unaware that we decided to come to NYC for the week so we thought we’d surprise them at brunch yesterday. David’s mom was so surprised and happy that she actually did a face-plant onto the restaurant table:

She was so surprised, so happy … we all had a great day. We brunched at a place called Whym (which I didn’t really love but I did end up enjoying the freshly prepared chicken pot pie) and then made our way to Eden’s apartment to hang out for a bit. Jake Gyllenhaal‘s new big screen action flick Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time won’t open in theaters here in the US until May 28 but it had its world premiere at the Vue Westfield in London, England last night. Jake spoke with the BBC ahead of last night’s red carpet premiere and revealed that he would not be opposed to starring in future Prince of Persia movies. Might there be a franchise in the works? Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals and some excerpts from Jake‘s chat with the BBC:

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal says he wants to be taken “a little less seriously” as an actor, and would love the Prince of Persia to become a franchise. The 29-year-old, known for dramatic roles including Brokeback Mountain, said recognition as the Disney blockbuster hero would be an “honour”. “I think about kids saying ‘you’re the Prince of Persia!’ That I wouldn’t mind being locked into,” he said. Based on a video game, the fantasy film is released in the UK on 21 May. Stars of the film, including Gyllenhaal and British actress Gemma Arterton, have also signed a deal for a sequel, but producers have stressed that the success of the initial outing – The Sands of Time – will secure a second movie … Gyllenhaal, who shot to fame in indie hit Donnie Darko, said he wants to be taken “a little less seriously” as an actor. “I wanted to fulfil the dreams of those movies I loved watching, like Robin Hood with Errol Flynn,” he added of his new swashbuckling role. “Who knows in two or three years time what other weird thing I’ll do?” said the star.

Er, I think it’s a bit premature to be talking about future movies … but something tells me that even if Prince of Persia is a modest hit, there will be future Persia films to come. I’m still on the fence about this film … while I want it to be good, I have my serious doubts. But, until I’m able to see the film for myself, I’ll have to reserve judgment. Late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, Betty White hosted THE MOST hilarious episode of Saturday Night Live (which won the show it’s highest ratings and best reviews in YEARS) and then — according to Life & Style magazine — went on to party well into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Here are the reported deets of Betty‘s SNL afterparty:

She may be 88 1/2 years old, but don’t say Betty White doesn’t know how to party. An eyewitness tells Life & Style that the former Golden Girl was getting down at the May 8 Saturday Night Live afterparty at Docks in NYC on Saturday until 3 a.m.! “She had no problem keeping up with the youngsters,” the eyewitness tells Life & Style. And it was clear that the SNL cast members loved having Betty host. “She got a standing ovation when she arrived at the party a little before 2 a.m. In 10 years of working on the show, I’ve never seen that before,” says the eyewitness. Helping Betty celebrate were SNL cast member Andy Samberg and Matthew Broderick. While Betty stuck to drinking water at the party, she did have one request while she was rehearsing the night before: a stiff, chilled vodka! As for any other divalike demands, Betty tells Life & Style that doing the show was work enough: “Special requests? Who could even think of that? I was just so focused on what I had to do. I had to learn how to read cue cards for tonight!” While Betty was celebrating until the wee hours of the morning, we know she couldn’t have been out all night: “She had to catch a flight at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning!” the eyewitness dishes. Celebrating wasn’t the only reward for Betty: the ratings for her episode of SNL were the highest in the past 18 months!

You go, Betty!! It sounds like she had a very fun, if very tiring week in NYC. Now that she’s home in SoCal, I hope she is able to rest comfortably for a few days before she gets back to work filming episodes of her new TV Land tv series Hot in Cleveland. Betty White is the shizz right now … ain’t life grand?
