"This is your lucky day, whore"

Last Tuesday we got our first look at the first mini-episode of the A Drop of True Blood mini-series that is airing on HBO on the Sundays leading up to the premiere of the 3rd season of True Blood on June 13. Today we get to check out the second episode, which focuses on newbie vampire Jessica:

LOL! This is a great clip. It didn’t actually turn out the way I thought it would but is much better than I imagined it would be. Last week’s clip was hilarious but I think I like this clip even better. I can’t wait to see more … these are AMAZING little snacks to tide us over while we wait for the premiere of the new season. What do y’all think … isn’t this clip great? Do you like this clip better than last week’s?

Madonna Does Russian ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ Magazine

Yesterday we learned that Madonna is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Interview magazine but today we learn that she is also featured in the new issue of Russian Harper’s Bazaar magazine as well. In a 2-page feature on her new line of MDG Sunglasses, Maddy invites HB magazine to the set of her MDG photoshoot:

While these photos are nice, I suppose, they pale in comparison to the photos of her that are featured in the new issue of Interview. Those photos are just fantastic, these are … well, nice. After the jump, check out the other photo from Maddy‘s 2-page Russian Harper’s Bazaar mag spread …

LOL!
Kristin Davis Is Not Fond Of The New ‘Sex And The City 2’ Poster

Pink reader Alex has come upon an interview view produced by The New York Post from the red carpet of last night’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala that I MUST share with all y’all right now. As you may recall, last Friday we got our first look at the latest movie poster for Sex and the City 2 — and what a frightening look it was. The NYP interviewer in this video actually asked SaTC star Kristin Davis what she thinks about the poster:

Let me assure you, Kristin‘s non-answer is PRICELESS! The entire video is worth watching as quite a few big name celebs appear in it but … you’ve gotta watch for Kristin Davis‘s response to what she thinks about the poster. Check out the video in full, after the jump …

Hugo Weaving To Play Red Skull In ‘Captain America’

In March we learned that Chris Evans, who previously played Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in the Fantastic 4 films, has been cast to play Steve Rodgers/Captain America in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the Captain America comic book series. Today we learn that veteran bad guy-player Hugo Weaving has been cast in the lead villain roleJohann Schmidt/Red Skull:

Watch out, Captain America. You officially have an arch-nemesis. Marvel has announced that they have cast Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt, a.k.a. the Red Skull, in their 2011 Captain America flick. The actor already has experience playing the big-screen baddie in action flicks — he voiced Megatron in Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and, of course, starred as Agent Smith in the Matrix films. Captain America: The First Avenger‘s story will focus on Steve Rogers’ transformation into the titular superhero after participating in an experimental program. Weaving’s Skull will be an update on the Schmidt character that appeared in the comics. He was drafted into the service of the Third Reich and renamed the Red Skull. Production will begin this summer in London with Captain America set to bow on July 22, 2011.

Oh yes, this is perfect casting. Hugo Weaving is a superb character actor and I think he will do an amazing job bringing the absolutely vile Red Skull to life. Because Captain America is a superhero who was created to fight against America’s enemies, Red Skull represents the worst of our nation’s enemies. In the Marvel Comic Book Universe, Red Skull has been a nazi as well as a communist. It remains to be seen which incarnation of Red Skull will appear in the new film Captain America: The First Avenger but I have no doubt that Weaving will make a perfectly evil villain. Well cast!!

"It’s sort of like a brotherhood"
Ryan Phillippe Does ‘Inked’ Magazine

Ryan Phillippe, who will be starring in this Summer’s Saturday Night Live movie McGruber, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Inked magazine. Devoted to skin art, Inked talks to Ryan about the 6 tattoo’s he’s had done as well as things about his personal and professional life. Here is Ryan‘s Inked coverphoto along with some excerpts from his interview:

When Ryan Phillippe lifts up his shirt in the middle of the bar at SoHo’s Crosby Street Hotel, it’s surprising that no one faints … Surely it’s happened before. But not today. Today everyone remains calm. To be fair, it isn’t as tawdry as it sounds. Ryan has lifted his shirt simply to show off his tattoo—an image of his son Deacon’s hand gripping Ryan’s grandfather’s hand—from the beloved artist Mister Cartoon. Like his career, Ryan takes his tattoos very seriously. “It’s really beautiful and soulful,” the 35-year-old actor says. “I went in there with this idea, and Cartoon loved it. He’s a soulful guy, and I have a connection with him that’s personal. I was so excited because he’s the top hip-hop artist, and I’m such a hip-hop head. He’s literally done everybody … Kanye West, Xzibit. You go into his studio and there’s a picture of him tattooing Eminem’s skull. It’s sort of like a brotherhood. Cartoon said, ‘You’re part of the family now.’ It’s a cool family to be a part of. He’s done three on me now.” For most people, Cartoon’s waiting list is months long, but it helps if you’re a famous actor who’s appeared in more than 20 movies, including Flags of Our Fathers, Crash, 54, Cruel Intentions, and this month’s MacGruber, a big-budget comedy based on Saturday Night Live’s popular MacGyver spoof … At 19, while on location in England for his first big movie, White Squall, Ryan had another coming-of-age moment: He got his first tattoo. He takes a sip of his tequila cocktail and points to a Japanese character that stands for spirit or soul on his right arm. “I went to this shady, dirty tattoo parlor because I wanted to commemorate my first major role,” he says, smiling. “I grew up with no money or connections to the business. My family struggled, and finally I’d gotten to the place where I was making a film with Jeff Bridges. I felt like I’d arrived.” Of his six tattoos, Ryan says his first is the most embarrassing. “It’s kind of bleeding and looks like a butterfly. It’s cliché. But I was 19—it should have been a cliché.” So would he ever get it covered? “No, but I did have a ladybug on my foot covered up. Its significance was with an ex. I put a stingray over the top of it. When people ask me why, I say, ‘Any animal that could take down the Crocodile Hunter deserves my respect.’” The ex? “An ex,” he says, looking uncomfortable.

The interview goes on from there where he talks a bit about what he went thru in his break-up with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon a few years ago as well as his break-up with ex-girlfriend Abbey Cornish earlier this year. He also talks about his children and his upcoming new film. The entire interview with Inked can be read at their official website HERE. It’s an interesting read … and, to my knowledge, the most open he’s been about his private life in any magazine interview. After the jump, check out a few photos from Ryan‘s Inked magazine photospread, including one that features the tattoo mentioned above …

Peek With Boo

Today is a very exciting day for me … after many months of talking about it and the last few weeks getting amped up for it, tonight David and I will be attending an early preview screening of Iron Man 2!!!

To be honest, I’ve been trying not to think about it so that I don’t get too riled up. I was trying to just let the day come … and today’s the day. David and I are both very excited and very ready to see IM2! I still have a few things to take care of ahead of our trip to NYC this coming weekend but I sincerely doubt I’ll get anything done today. I will deffo share my thoughts on the film — in an unspoilerly way — tomorrow. Woot!! So excited.

'American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity'
The 2010 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala

Last night celebs and fashionistas made their way to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, NY to attend the annual Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s Costume Institute Ball which was themed American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity. This gala event is the opportunity for these famous folks to turn it out on the red carpet and show off their fanciest, most stylist looks. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals last night and some deets from the event itself:

It could have gone any way last night, considering the theme of the Costume Institute exhibition: “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity.” There could have been neo-jazz babies, flappers, debutantes, feminists, disco queens, Hollywood sirens, Nouvelle Society matrons and Playboy bunnies. And that’s just a few archetypes off the top of a stack. But most of the women attending the gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among the 725 guests, dressed elegantly, more so than in recent years, and they did their best to heed Anna Wintour’s e-mail messages to be on time. At 6:30 p.m., Ms. Wintour, the editor in chief of Vogue, was waiting at the top of the red-carpeted grand staircase, a tiny figure in a gold Chanel dress and jacket. If the gala’s other leaders, Oprah Winfrey and Patrick Robinson, the executive vice president of design for Gap, had ascended the front steps, they still had a climb before they reached Ms. Wintour and the receiving line. Asked if she felt any pressure to wear clothes by American designers, Ms. Wintour smiled and said, “Well, if you see the exhibition, they’re all wearing French clothes.” Ms. Winfrey wore a design of Oscar de la Renta, who had invited Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Barbara Walters, among others, to sit at his table. In recent years, the themes of the Costume Institute exhibits have included “Anglomania,” superheroes and models. That at least provided some direction for how to dress for the party, where this year the top table price was $250,000 and Lady Gaga sang after the dinner. But this year’s exhibition, organized by the curator Andrew Bolton, looked at styles between 1890 and the 1940s, relying on exceptional pieces from the Brooklyn Museum’s collection like Worth gowns, gray walking suits and bicycling outfits. It’s a serene view of American style, set against murals, and it was almost shocking to see how tiny the figures were, with tiny waists and tiny feet. Naturally, everyone had her own idea of what defined American style. “I think it’s confidence,” said Vera Wang, in a long white dress, as she talked to members of the Newhouse family and then Wendy Murdoch, who wore a fitted green silk dress with a long black train. Its designer, Prabal Gurung, was new to her. She said that Ms. Wintour had recommended him. A few feet away, and trying to avoid the train of Mrs. Murdoch’s dress, were Nicole Richie, in a silvery Marc Jacobs dress, and Margherita Missoni, in a long black dress that sort of left her bare on the sides. “It’s my idea of grunge,” Ms. Missoni said. “I want to bring back the ’90s.” Ms. Ritchie said she wanted to dress up more these days. “I actually wear long dresses a lot,” she said. Across the Petrie Sculpture Court, where cocktails were held, Lauren Santo Domingo was channeling the ’90s as well. “Tom Ford,” she said, mentioning a designer whose name seemed to be on a number of people’s lips. Ms. Santo Domingo’s long beige beaded dress was actually a Proenza Schouler. She was standing with Chloë Sevigny, who had on a bright turquoise Proenza dress with a short belled skirt. “I couldn’t pull off your dress,” Ms. Sevigny said to Ms. Santo Domingo, “and you couldn’t pull off mine.” They seemed agreed about that. Christopher Bailey, the Burberry designer, had his idea about American style: “It’s easy, functional, comfortable with an earthy sexiness. I still think of Lauren Hutton as the epitome of that style.” Franca Sozzani, the editor of Italian Vogue, had on a beige silk satin Valentino dress (“From way, way back,” she said, waving her hand), and she stood surveying the jam-packed, train-tripping room with Donatella Versace. “To me, American fashion is Charlie James,” Ms. Sozzani said. Ah, Charlie. Someone was summoning him, too. Dr. Lisa Airan, the Manhattan dermatologist, had wanted to wear a real James dress to the party, but her friend, the designer Gilles Mendel, had told her that wasn’t such a great idea. So she went to the Met library, did some research, and asked Mr. Mendel to make her dress in the James spirit.

Honestly, I’m not really impressed with anything that I saw on the red carpet last night. Sure, there were a lot of pretty dresses but nothing really stood out. In previous years, there were quite a few interesting and over-the-top looks that were real attention getters (remember Madonna‘s Louis Vuitton bunny ears last year?) but this year … nada. After the jump, check out a few more photos from the red carpet arrivals last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala to see if anything jumps out and grabs your eye …
