Hold on your hats, y’all. It’s not bad enough that MTV is bringing us both a new season of Jersey Shore with a whole new cast AND another season of the original JS cast in Miami Beach, FL BUT now, they are planning to bring that JS vibe to the city of Boston, MA. That’s right folks, MTV is now casting a show called Wicked Summer that is seeking a group of people who seem to embody Irish stereotypes to be featured on a whole new reality TV show … read on for all the deets:

“You come from all over — Gloucester, Worcester, South End, Charlestown, Chicopee and South Swansea. You share a love for muscle cahs, hair products and little necks on the frickin half shell. You don’t take shit from nobody — least of all each othah. You are the hottest girls and proudly buff guys from Massa-freakin-chusettes who believe in God, Family, The Red Sox and partying!! You ready to live togethah, laugh togethah, drink togethah and love togethah? You’ll pahty on the beaches of the Cape where Roast Beef subs and cases of Narragansett Light are on every Celtics towel next to a bottle of baby oil and a can of hair spray! Are you down for one wicked cool summah, and be a part of the most wicked reality show evah! Doron Ofir Casting is looking for blue collar, hard working, harder partying, tough talking, damn good looking Mass natives from all over the state …. Yea we’ll consider preps from Wellesley too if they got what it takes. Get Ready for the the summer of your life on the show that will knock the sox off the Red Sox, blow canons from Lexington to Cornwall and make you wish you remembered where you pahked your frickin cah cause that clunker is in Jersey!”
So now we’ll have Jersey Shore 1.0 in Miami Beach, Jersey Shore 2.0 in the Jersey Shore AND Wicked Summer in Boston. It sounds like MTV is planning to exploit different groups of people (or cast folks who are happy to do their own exploiting) in different parts of the country for their financial gain and our entertainment. Does this sound like a good idea to you? Are you interested in watching a show that does to Irish people what Jersey Shore does to Italian people? Do YOU think you’ve got what it takes to be cast on Wicked Summer? If so … MTV would you to fill out an application HERE. If not … tell me what you think of this new show?

I’m actually Irish, as in, from the country. Thanks MTV, for further perpetuating a negative stereotype of actual Irish people through moronic assholes who won’t actually be even close to Irish anyway. Great.
Fantastic. As an Irish-American from Boston….good lord, this is awful. Southie isn’t even Irish anymore, and the South End, like someone else already said, is just bullshit.
Just what we need in the US – a series of shows to propogate stereotypes!! Hooray!!
Oy! I can see where this is headed. Before you know it, you’ll have Mexican-Americans like you and me be exploited and stereotyped further by the good folks at MTV. “Faceplam*
omg yeah this is awesome! next we can have one based in atlanta and the sponsors can be kfc and kool aid?! no too far? lol. i was just kidding but seriously america has come too far to make certain groups of people look like buffons. our generation should focus on the important things and not wanting instant stardom and this kind of bull.
What i keep thinking is if they did this with a group of lets say Mexicans, it would be racist. And even though with this show and with the Jersey Shore, people were mad about it and protesting – the majority of people didn’t find it offensive. But if they did it with a larger minority group, people everywhere would be outraged. They wouldn’t even do a show like that because they’re not stupid. So why is it more socially acceptable to stereotype some groups but not others, doesn’t make sense.
now that they’re doing it about non-italians, the show’s will get cancelled. we just have to wait for irish backlast (which should be rightfully done) and then they’ll start a next show and finally piss off the “right people”. idiots. i honestly can’t believe people would do this. as if italians and irish alike haven’t fought their whole time in this country against stereotypes..
Amen, gabby! I agree 100%. At some point it became ok to disparage Americans of European descent. It’s blatant exploitative bigotry. The sad part is that someone is actually watching Jersey Shore. I can say I’ve never watched an episode and I don’t intend to. If MTV wants to showcase idiots getting drunk somewhere, they shouldn’t focus on one specific race or ethnic group.
Ehhhh all those places listed are in England… ye eegits!! Thought this was meant to be about IRELAND!!! we’re nat the same country…
