The British music magazine NME announced late yesterday on their official Twitter account that Kylie Minogue would be making an “extra special” announcement today … which we now know is news of a new single to come in June and a new album to come in July. Kylie.com has announced today that Kylie‘s next album — Aphrodite — will be released in July and the first single from the disc — All the Lovers — will be released in June:

I suspected Kylie‘s announcement might be music-related but I didn’t think she’d be announcing a new single AND a new album. But the news gets better — after the jump, check out the album artwork for Aphrodite and listen to a clip of her new single All the Lovers …

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cover … but, I have to say, it reminds me a lot of the cover artwork for Tori Amos‘s holiday album Midwinter Graces which she released late year. The pose and color scheme of the two albums is very similar and most certainly coincidental. The album titled Aphrodite, after the Greek goddess of love, evokes all these themes that I’m certain will make for a fantastically fun album. And so, without further ado, is our first listen to Kylie‘s new single All the Lovers:
Sounds very cool, a bit 70′s disco-esque … very Kylie Minogue! Yay!! I am so excited for this new Kylie album!! New music, ye gods, new music from Kylie Minogue!! Woooooot!!!
UPDATE: Kylie‘s record label has issued an official press release with more deets:
KYLIE RETURNS AS “APHRODITE”!
HER STUNNING BRAND NEW SINGLE “ALL THE LOVERS” IS RELEASED ON PARLOPHONE ON JUNE 28, FOLLOWED A WEEK LATER BY HER NEW STUDIO ALBUM “APHRODITE” ON JULY 5
Kylie Minogue returns to the charts at the end of June when her highly anticipated brand new single “All The Lovers” is released on Parlophone. The single, set to be a huge summer anthem, previews her new studio album “Aphrodite” scheduled for release a week later, on July 5. The album, Kylie’s fifth studio album on Parlophone, sees her celebrate her dance-floor roots and features Stuart Price as executive producer. The list of songwriters includes Kylie, Stuart Price, Calvin Harris, Jake Shears, Nerina Pallot and Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley. Further details on the album, including the track-listing, will be announced shortly. Kylie said today: “The single was one of the last tracks to be written for the album. As I was recording it I knew that “All The Lovers” had to be the first single; it sums up the euphoria of the album perfectly. It gives me goose-bumps, so I’m really excited to hear what everyone thinks of it”. Stuart Price, who mixed the track and was executive producer on the album said: “‘All The Lovers’ is a magical song and sums up everything that the album is: Kylie doing pop dance music at her best. When you look in your mind’s eye at everything Kylie is, it’s on this record”. Kylie Minogue has sold more than 60 million records and continues to be one of the most successful solo artists in the world. Her groundbreaking tours have set new standards for live performances and last year her first ever tour of America garnered rave reviews.
Woooot!! I am sooo excited!! Yay!!

Yea!! More Kylie! Never can get enough! Can’t wait! What does Trent say? Woot-woot?!
wow July… thats way too long… cant wait…
Adore her…but she’s barely recognizable on that cover.
Before I even read you comment about the cover looking like Tori’s “Midwinter Graces” I was thinking the same exact thing. Love me some Kylie. Cannot wait!
PRAY that the album gets a simulataneous worldwide release so that Kylie’s US sales show what she’s capable of. Her last album X sold so many copies on import that the official US release had a lackluster chart position. She deserves better in this country.
Yay-hoo! It’s so cool that Kylie describes her own album as “euphoria”. And I love that the song clip is instrumental only, that’s the perfect way to leak a bit of it.
…
Anybody who knows me knows that Tori is my goddess, but I gotta say that her cover on Midwinter Graces actually creeps me out. But Kylie’s Aphrodite actually does allow her to pull off a superior goddess vibe/look. I know the faeries are gonna read me for my betrayal, but I gotta speak my truth :)
Yep, Tori’s Midwinter Graces cover art, etc., really was subpar (doesn’t change my lover for Tori one iota!). This cover of Kylie’s has got it goin on! It reminded me of the “Slow” video, actually, at first glance.
