TMZ has published a speculative new report that claims that Lindsay Lohan is bound for jail based on their claim that she has not satisfied successfully a judge’s order to attend alcohol education classes once a week — as part of the terms of her probation for a DUI conviction. According to this new report, TMZ seems confident that the ruling judge will surely make Lindsay pay by throwing her in jail. While I, personally, think that drying the poor girl out in the slammer might do her a world of good, I have a hard time believing that she will be punished in this way. Here are the deets from this new TMZ report that lay out their claim:

Lindsay Lohan has violated the terms of her probation and is headed for a showdown in court next month that will almost certainly land her in jail. Lohan — who is on probation for DUI — has not fulfilled the alcohol education requirement laid down by the judge … TMZ has learned. Judge Marsha Revel made it clear to Lindsay late last year, she must attend alcohol ed courses once every 7 days. The only exception — if she was in inpatient rehab. And the judge was explicit … if Lindsay did not comply with the terms of probation, she was going to jail. The school in which Lindsay enrolled is required by state law to inform the court only if the student is MIA for 21 days. So here’s the disconnect: The school has not reported an attendance violation … because Lindsay frequently waited until the 21st day to attend classes. Bottom line — Lindsay met the school’s requirement, but squarely violated the judge’s order. We’ve learned what’s going to come out at Lindsay’s progress hearing on May 20 — that she has habitually violated the judge’s requirement to attend classes at least once every 7 days. Judge Revel has made it clear to Lindsay — no more chances. If probation is violated, she’s going to jail … and probation was repeatedly violated. We asked Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, for comment and received the following email: “We have received no negative written report from the program and contend Ms. Lohan is therefore in compliance.” Good lawyering for sure, because — as we just told you — the program may not have a problem with Lindsay, but the judge is going to have a big problem.
The folks at TMZ seem pretty confident that the judge is going to incarcerate L. Lo for her alleged failure to comply with the terms of her probation … I’m just not convinced. If the legal system here in Hollywood actually forced celebrities to pay for their crimes, then I’d be more amenable to the argument that she might actually be punished. I just cannot believe that will be the case. The judge may extend her probation and “force” more stringent regulations but jail time? I don’t buy it. I do contend, tho, that if Lindsay truly believed that her dangerous actions would have serious consequences, she might better curb her behavior and actually learn a lesson or two. Until that happens, she’s gonna just keep doing whatever the hell she wants to do. I guess we’ll have to wait until this time next month to find out if Lindsay Lohan will actually be punished with anything, including jail time. We shall see what will happen.

I agree with with you Trent when you say that jailing Lindsay is not necessarily the best correction method. There has to be something better they can do. What would you suggest? I would think some good quality community service with a family affected by alcoholism or lost a member to drunk driving would do her good. Or some time in a Dr. Drew like intervention…
@Kate — I contend that Dr. Drew is a celebrity leech. She needs real therapy from a real, non-celebrity therapist … and fast!
I think Dr. Drew started out with good intentions, and then became a celebrity leach.
I also think that yes, she will be jailed and that it might not be a bad thing. Judges don’t like when celebrities thumb their noses at them.
I hope she will be jailed. She has to learn their are consequences for her actions…and it would keep her away from the substances for a little while.
