So … how awesome was last night’s Madonna ep of Glee? Amazing, right? Well … good news, based on the huge success that last night’s episode The Power of Madonna has garnered for the show, producers have announced that they are working on producing another Madonna ep to air early next season. Things are still in the planning stages but Madge is reportedly on board for the sequel ep … might she be willing to make a cameo on the show next time around?

Glee is heading back into the groove with Madonna. The afterglow from last night’s smashing (and highly rated) Madge-themed episode has barely dimmed and already series creator Ryan Murphy is talking to the Material Girl about a sequel! Murphy confirms that he’s in discussions with M’s camp and that “Madonna and her people are into it and want it to happen.” The follow-up would air early next season and feature six more songs from the pop icon’s immense catalog of hits. (There’s talk that fans might be able to vote on which tracks should be used via a poll on Fox.com.) The Glee-Madonna marriage has already reaped huge dividends for both the show and the star. Tuesday’s episode attracted a potent 13.5 million viewers, down just 5 percent from last week’s record-setting spring premiere. Additionally, the soundtrack from the ep is currently No. 1 on iTunes, and two of the singles are in the top 20.
None of this is surprising at all … TV networks really like to take a good idea and beat it into the ground, hoping that they will strike gold every time. I do think, tho, that Madonna is the kind of musician that has more than enough songs to feature in more than just the one ep. If they can get Maddy herself to appear in the episode then I am ALL for another Glee/Madonna episode. I really love the Glee versions of the Madonna songs that were featured last night … and I’m sure I’ll love the new songs that will eventually get produced, recorded and released next season. In case you missed it or just want to watch last night’s ep of Glee, you can do so after the jump …
Unfortunately, due to restrictions, the above embed will only work for viewers in the US. Even if you did watch last night, the ep is so good it’s deffo worth another watch today. Overall, I am very excited that Glee is planning another Madonna episode … I just hope they don’t let things get out of hand and end up ruining a good idea by beating it to death with repetition. How about an episode (or two) devoted to Britney Spears‘s amazing catalog of hits? I’d be so down for that. What do y’all think?
OH and btw, Fox is reairing The Power of Madonna this Friday night at 9PM ET/PT … so you’ll have another chance to watch the ep in full on TV :)

LOVED the ep! The hair jokes are getting a bit old but other than that, they did a great job of incorporating the music into the storyline.
I agree with you Trent…I do hope they do a Britney Spears episode. It would be awesomely epic!!!!
I loved the music but the script was just a big ad drooling over Madonna.
Hopefully we’ll get some actual plot next week.
@Chlvonne
I’m sorry. I thought this was America, where people could give their opinions freely. Apparently, I’m wrong, and we’re living in Chlvonnia where if you don’t agree with his/her opinion you get chastised.
Oddly enough, I didn’t see you complain about other people who didn’t care for the episode. So basically you’re a segregationist as well, singling out certain people to comment on. How sad your world must be.
And FYI, if you wanna stick your tongue out at me, it’s like this :-p
Nice and simple.
Have fun in your dictatorship! I’ll be back in the land of the free where we fight off people with your narrowminded kind of thinking.
Namaste!
Full epsiodes are posted on globaltv.com for me and my fellow Canadians! I too had to deal with the dvr snafu (damn you, American Idol!!), but I just went and watched it there.
I have not watched this but I love spoilers so here I am. Haha.
last nights episode was my least favourite episode of Glee. I don’t know Madonna songs and the ones I have heard of I don’t overly like. So I was really not looking forward to the performances.
The news that they are already planning another one annoys me greatly.
I like the show, but I wasn’t into this episode. Watching the cast perform the songs just made me want to turn off the tv and dust off my old Madonna CDs.

Loved it but not quite as much as the episode that featured Beyonce’s Single Ladies last season. That is the best ep ever in my opinion. Love for GLEE!!!
I’m with Jess. I thought the episode was too choppy with all of the singing thrown in. Not enough dialogue to tie it all together. I think the Like a Virgin sequence was spot on though, and it felt like Glee should!
Thanks for posting the full episode, Trent! My DVR cut off the last act because lame-ass American Idol went long.
I’m glad they’re finally acknowledging the underuse of Kurt and Mercedes. I don’t see why, with such a talented cast, Rachel and Finn get multiple solos in every episode. Diversify, yo! I’d love to hear more Puck and Artie (esp Artie, his voice is great!) and Tina and Quinn too. And i don’t think we’ve ever heard Santana solo, i’m sure there’s a great, bitchy song out there for her.
I’m not holding out much faith though- Glee tends to drop plotlines left and right (Kurt on the football team?) so I don’t expect them to follow through with Schu’s recognition that he’s been ignoring 90% of his team. :/
Great episode though! ‘Express Yourself’ was my fave.
@DJ @Jess – Thank you guys! I was completely underwhelmed by the episode, and I was beginning to think I was the only one!
