Hold on to your hats, True Blood fans. Even tho we’re all gonna hafta wait until June 13 to watch new episodes of the hit HBO series, it has been announced that a mini-series titled A Drop of True Blood made up of mini-episodes will begin airing on HBO starting May 2. These mini-eps will feature footage from the True Blood storyline that has been filmed expressly for this mini-series!

A piece of good news comes for anxious fans of “True Blood”. In order to tide fans over before the show officially kicks off the third season in June, HBO will release mini episodes which are written by creator Alan Ball. Dubbed “A Drop of True Blood”, the miniseries contains six episodes. On its official site, HBO said, “We know #waitingsucks. That’s why we’re giving you six new True Blood mini episodes, written by Alan Ball. A new one premieres each week starting Sunday May 2, directly following the Season 2 replays at 8. It all leads up to the Season 3 premiere June 13, only on HBO.” These episodes are not from the previous seasons and won’t be seen in the new one, the trailer says. From the look of it, the miniseries will cover all major and secondary characters from Sookie and Bill to Eric’s sidekick, Pam.

!!!! This is FANTASTIC news. I thought we’d have to content ourselves with short behind-the-scenes video and promo posters to sate our thirst for True Blood in the weeks leading up to the season 3 premiere. These new mini-episodes sound like the perfect little snacks to enjoy that will provide NEW material and promote the upcoming new season. Alan Ball and HBO are geninses … this is such a great idea. I can’t wait!! Now we only have a little over one week to wait for NEW True Blood! Who’s excited?

Since seeing the new Banksy film Exit Through the Gift Shop last weekend, I’ve been a bit more curious about the street artists that are featured in the film. Altho British street artist Banksy is the most famous artist in the film, American artist Shepard Fairey is a close second. His masterpiece, the Obama Hope poster, has made him an honest-to-goodness worldwide phenomenon … one who is planning a new art exhibit in NYC next month. To celebrate the opening of his art show, titled May Day, Fairey put up a mural in the Big Apple to generate hype for the exhibit:

WNYC caught up with Shepard Fairey while he was painting a new mural on the legendary corner of Bowery and Houston. The mural is a promotional piece for Fairey’s upcoming show at Deitch Projects, called May Day. It’s also his last show with Deitch, since the gallery will be closing when Jeffrey Deitch heads to L.A. to take over L.A.’s Museum of Contemporary Art. The mural’s going up across the street from the Landmark Sunshine Cinema, which is screening the film, “Exit through the Gift Shop,” which features Fairey and was directed by the elusive street artist Banksy. Fairey told WNYC that the mural will be up for six months. He chose the spot, he says, because it’s the same wall where Keith Haring’s original Day-Glo mural went up in 1984. Deitch re-created the Haring piece in 2008, and then commissioned the Brazilian graffiti artists, Os Gemeos, to do a new installation, a year later. Remember when “street art” was illegal? Fairey does. He says the spot’s significant for him, because, in addition to the Haring connection, he once tagged walls just blocks away from that corner.

I don’t know about you but I don’t mind so much that many of these “illegal” street artists are finding legitimate success in the art world. Sure, the cool-factor is lost a bit once a graffiti artist goes legit (and “sells out”, according to some critics) but I’m more interested in the work they end up making rather than the coolness of how illegal it may be. I doubt Shepard Fairey will ever be able totally win back his o.g. street cred but I bet he doesn’t mind being taken seriously after all of his years of D.I.Y. hard work. HBO has released the latest promo poster artwork for the upcoming 3rd season of True Blood as part of their on-going Waiting Sucks ad campaign. This time around, the focus is on missing Vampire Bill Compton:

See what they did with this poster? Instead of a Missing Child photo on a carton of milk, this poster features a Missing Vampire photo on a bottle of Tru Blood blood-like beverage — very clever! These posters are getting much more fun … I can’t wait to see the next one.

So … how awesome was last night’s Madonna ep of Glee? Amazing, right? Well … good news, based on the huge success that last night’s episode The Power of Madonna has garnered for the show, producers have announced that they are working on producing another Madonna ep to air early next season. Things are still in the planning stages but Madge is reportedly on board for the sequel ep … might she be willing to make a cameo on the show next time around?

Glee is heading back into the groove with Madonna. The afterglow from last night’s smashing (and highly rated) Madge-themed episode has barely dimmed and already series creator Ryan Murphy is talking to the Material Girl about a sequel! Murphy confirms that he’s in discussions with M’s camp and that “Madonna and her people are into it and want it to happen.” The follow-up would air early next season and feature six more songs from the pop icon’s immense catalog of hits. (There’s talk that fans might be able to vote on which tracks should be used via a poll on Fox.com.) The Glee-Madonna marriage has already reaped huge dividends for both the show and the star. Tuesday’s episode attracted a potent 13.5 million viewers, down just 5 percent from last week’s record-setting spring premiere. Additionally, the soundtrack from the ep is currently No. 1 on iTunes, and two of the singles are in the top 20.

None of this is surprising at all … TV networks really like to take a good idea and beat it into the ground, hoping that they will strike gold every time. I do think, tho, that Madonna is the kind of musician that has more than enough songs to feature in more than just the one ep. If they can get Maddy herself to appear in the episode then I am ALL for another Glee/Madonna episode. I really love the Glee versions of the Madonna songs that were featured last night … and I’m sure I’ll love the new songs that will eventually get produced, recorded and released next season. Last night David and I finally got to see and catch up with our dear friend Jordan who has been out of town for like EVER. Because it’s hard to nail him down for a visit when he’s in town, we jumped on the chance to sup with him last night. We met up for a nice dinner at Comme Ça in West Hollywood and managed to catch up on all the important stuff that’s been going on in the past couple of months:

Jordan is seriously one of my favorite people on Earth … it was really great getting to spend some time with him again. Thankfully, he’s gonna stay here in SoCal for a while so hopefully we’ll get to see more of him soon.

This afternoon I have a bit of running around to do … and I am NOT happy with the cold weather. It’s been supercold these past few days … currently, it’s only 55 degrees. I know, that’s not really cold … but by LA standards, it’s freezing. I hope it warms up again soon. Happy Hump Day!

Yesterday we got our first look at True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård on the cover of the new issue of VMan magazine (you may recall that we also got to see the lad tucked between new ladylove Kate Bosworth‘s legs at Coachella) and today we get to see photos from his VMan photospread:

Jon Bon Jovi, leader of the mega-80′s rock band of the same name, was spotted lounging poolside in Miami, FL yesterday as the band Bon Jovi takes a small break from their current tour. At 48, I gotta say, Jon Jon is lookin’ pretty good … don’tcha think?

After nearly three decades in rock ‘n’ roll, Jon Bon Jovi could be forgiven for looking rather haggard by now. But after turning 48 last month, the Bon Jovi frontman appears to have avoided the usually craggy appearance sported by his contemporaries. Relaxing in the Miami sun in between concerts on Bon Jovi’s current tour, the singer showed he still has the trim physique he first sported in the Eighties. Two months into the group’s gruelling 64-gig world tour, it’s perhaps unsurprising he’s feeling fit. But while fellow rockers of his age group are ageing fast and looking worse for wear, Bon Jovi has managed to avoid the hard-drinking and drug-fuelled aspects of life on the road. After performing in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday night, the father-of-four enjoyed a few days relaxation in Miami before the group moved on to Nashville, Tennessee for their next gig tonight. Spotted at a lavish hotel in Miami Beach, Jovi chatted on his phone and soaked up the sun in a pair of grey swimming trunks and a baseball cap. Hopefully he was wearing sunblock so as to avoid an unflattering tanline as he kept his socks and trainers on.

I am a huge fan of the big Bon Jovi hits from the 80′s, tho not really that fond of their recent fare which IMHO all sounds the same. In all honestly, I haven’t thought much of Jon Bon Jovi for many years but I gotta say, he looks really good, really fit in these photos. I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s all that and a bag of chips but he’s held up pretty well over his 48 years. What do y’all think … is Jon Bon Jovi still a sexy beast or notsomuch?

Yesterday we learned that the torrid romance betwixt Jude Law and Sienna Miller was very much still in full effect as the pair showed up here in SoCal lookin’ all cozy together. Today we learn that the pair, who were coincidentally staying together in the same hotel, have packed up their bags and left LA together. Here are pics of JuSie as they made their hotel exit and their airport arrival yesterday:

I would assume that the lovebirds winged their way back to the UK but it’s possible they might pop up in a remote holiday location. They’ve not been seen together for many weeks, so long that I thought their romance may have cooled into nothingness. Now that we know that they’ve reunited, I suspect they’ll wanna get down to the business of reconnecting … in every way possible, as much as they can. I guess we’ll have to wait and see where they show up next.
