Back in August of last year, Janet Jackson announced that she would be releasing a new album in the “first quarter of 2010″ and it would seem that time has not yet arrived. Janet‘s producer and ex-beau Jermaine Dupri announced on Twitter yesterday that a new Janet single, taken from her new soundtrack album from her new film Why Did I Get Married, Too?, will be released on March 30 … with still no word about her new album:

Janet Jackson’s brand new single is going to be unleashed next week on March 30. Titled “Nothing”, the song is recorded by the singer for the soundtrack of upcoming movie “Why Did I Get Married Too?”. Confirming the song’s release date is producer Jermaine Dupri in a short message on his Twitter. “OH AND ON THE 30th IS WHEN I RELEASE THE NEW JANET RECORD (NOTHING) FROM THE WDIGM 2 SOUNDTRACK JUS ALIL INFO FOR THE JANET FANS,” he wrote.

So … now we get to look forward to Nothing from Ms. Janet. HMMM. Additionally, Janet Jackson was a last-minute guest addition to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno:

She’s a cutie … and it’s great to see her looking so well again. She looks happy, it’s really wonderful that she’s been able to move on (somewhat) from the death of her beloved brother. With this new book and movie on the market … I hope her new album doesn’t get pushed back any further. I think ti’s time that the world got a new batch of Janet Jackson music, don’t you?
