Yesterday was a fantastically fun day for David and me … we met up with our friend who is also named David (visiting from NYC) and we 3 made our way down to Disneyland for the day. I have been DYING to see Captain EO (which began showing at Disney last Tuesday) and this was our weekend to do so:

We started our day at the California Adventure park but I have to advise any of y’all thinking of going … stay away for a while. Half the park is closed off for renovations and, except for the California Screamin’ rollercoaster, it’s not worth the hassle. We had a much better time at Disneyland. After the jump, check out some of our fun photos and find out who WE MET at Disneyland at the end of the night …

So yeah, as I said … California Adventure was not fun … tho the Davids did win me a set of cute little stuffed animal ducks at the Midway Arcade ;) Disneyland was as a blast … we made a beeline to see Captain EO — it was my FIRST time ever to see it! I’ve wanted to see the 3D movie for over 20 years and I finally got my chance. The film has NOT been digitally restored … because of the abrupt way that Michael Jackson died, I understand Disney wanted to get the film back in the park in tribute as soon as they could. I understand the film was cleaned up a little bit but it is still the same film from 1986. Some of the 3D is janky but it’s nostalgically janky. The entire audience cheered thruout the mini-movie, it is a must see y’all. If you have the chance to see Captain EO at Disneyland, YOU MUST!!

The rest of the night was really fun … we ate all the fun junk, we rode all our fave rides and were pretty wowed by the new fireworks show they are currently running. At the end of the night, as we were shopping at the Mad Hatter shop on Main St. Mickey Mouse came out for photos. I swear, we were all instantly 5 years old again! I’m so bummed I didn’t have a real camera … but this cameraphone photo ain’t too bad :) We had so much fun … I cannot wait to go back!!

So … it’s March today. How are we already into the 3rd month of 2010?! OY! Happy Monday, y’all!

I am coming to LA March 18th to the 22nd I either want to go to Disneyland or Magic Mountain….I AM THINKING MM!

  2. ems says:

All I remember about Captain EO, since they took it out probably when I was 5 or 6, was the long finger nails of the villain coming out to get you, scared me to death.

  3. Val 2.0 says:

Trent – What about Soarin’ Over California or (The Ride Formally Known As) The Sun Wheel? Those are my favorites over at DCA.

  4. Val 2.0 says:

Well, poop sandwich. I had plans to hit up the park during my vacation this week. Soarin’ is my favorite.

    • @Val 2.0 — MY APOLOGIES, I hope you see this … I was wrong, Soarin’ over California is OPEN! I was thinking of another ride. You can still go to that attraction if you visit CA Adventure right now.

  5. Kendra says:

Trent – Do you have an annual pass? It’s SO more than worth it if you live in SoCal!

@Mr. Gyllenhaal – I think it depends on what you’re in the mood for..If you want to ride rollercoasters all day, MM is the way to go..Disneyland has a few fast rides, but nothing like the scary rides at MM..BUT Disneyland is just so magical and fun! Whichever one you choose, you’re going to have a blast!

    • @Kendra — Oh, yes, I have a pass. I always said that one day I would live in LA and have a pass that would let me go to Disneyland *any time I want to* and shortly after I moved to LA 4 years ago, I got my first pass :D In fact, David finally succumbed and got his first annual pass yesterday :D

  6. Oscar in Miami Beach says:

I saw the show at DisneyWorld when it originally came out.It was fun.

  7. Val 2.0 says:

Yup. Just took a peek at my DL iPhone app. 35 minute wait. Wish I was there. Trent, do you look for hidden Mickeys?

  8. Phillip says:

I was at disney yesterday and mark from blink182 was there.

  9. Kristina says:

Trent, I love “California Adventure,” especially the Animation Station. The photo updates via Twitter are always super cute and enjoyable to see. I should visit the “House” soon. Already been a week since my last visit and I’m longing for another one.

TRENT Don’t Forget about TOWER O TERROR!!!!! That ride is the BOMB, but ya I was there last Weds, it’s all about ca screamin, tower of terror, and the toy story game, but ya other than that a lot of stuff is under renovation!!

  11. Kendra says:

@Trent – Awww..Your wish was fulfilled! Congrats to David! I’m so jealous! Now that I live in San Diego and am a poor student, I don’t get the annual passes anymore..But someday..Someday……. :)

  12. Fran says:

Hey Trent! Glad you had an awesome time at Disneyland! I was going to go too because it was the last day for my annual pass to be valid but alas, schoolwork took over my life. Fyi, little miss Demi Lovato was at the park also. My bro, who works on Pirates of the Caribbean, saw her get off the ride. I’m sure paparazzo pics will be up soon.

  13. Sarah says:

I’m going to LA (i’m in Canada) in two weeks.. and i was really hoping to be able to go to disney and see Captain EO, but disney tickets are so expensive.. and this is one of my very low on cash trips :(

  14. Ally says:

ems — I saw it around that age too and was so terrified. Michael Jackson in 3D is extremely frightening for a 5 yr old.
