Gisele Bündchen, supermodel extraordinaire and new mom, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vogue magazine … who posed for the mag just 6 weeks after giving birth. As you may recall, Gisele and hubby Tom Brady welcomed the birth of their first child together — a boy named Benjamin Rein — in early December. It wasn’t until early February that we got our first look at little Benjamin Rein. Today we get another peek at Gisele‘s baby boy in the pages of Vogue, as well as a sneak peek at her coverstory interview. Here is Gisele‘s Vogue coverphoto and excerpts from her accompanying interview:

Devoted to health, wellness, and the trials and triumphs of shape and size, VOGUE’s annual April tribute to the female form, the Shape Issue, is replete with stories that range from the inspirational to the poignant, but all celebrate a love for life … The model of health itself, Gisele Bündchen is a natural choice to grace the cover of the April Shape Issue. Only six weeks after giving birth, Gisele opens the doors to her Boston home to VOGUE Contributing Editor Joan Juliet Buck and shares intimate details about the birth of her baby boy with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, her new beauty line developed to empower troubled young girls around the world, and her efforts to save the environment. In a stunning editorial shot by Patrick Demarchelier, the model enjoys the beaches of Costa Rica and shows off her new baby, Benjamin Rein.
Gisele on her baby’s name, Benjamin Rein: “I wanted him to be called River because I wanted something always flowing, immortal. My husband said, ‘There’s no way we’re going to call him River.’ But my father’s name is Reinoldo, so it’s a homage to him. And it’s like water.”
On staying in shape while pregnant: “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.”
On keeping out of the public eye: “I felt like my pregnancy was a sacred moment for me. I stayed in Boston and I didn’t work apart from the contracts I have, and then I only let them use my face.”
On her first time behind the camera since her son was born: “I got to the studio and I felt like I was E.T.—whoa, what’s going on? Hair and makeup? I hadn’t looked at myself in a mirror for a month and a half… Usually, as I walk through the door into that atmosphere, I already feel different. There’s a button that goes On and I’m On. And when I go On, there is almost no me; there is just a character who is doing all this. This time it wasn’t like that… For the first time, I think I actually saw me—the inside—instead of the persona.”
Only a paragon of perfection like Gisele could give birth to a baby and 6 weeks later look this good for Vogue magazine. OY! After the jump, check out a few photos from Gisele‘s Vogue photoshoot including a pic of her still pregs, a pic of her with baby Ben and more …

What beautiful photos! Gisele is just a beauty, plain and simple. The pic of her with Benjamin is just to die for. This issue of Vogue magazine is a must own … I’ll be sure to pick up a copy when it hits newsstands. Aren’t these photos just the best? Talk about your Earth Mother, indeed!

I loved! she is so amazing.
She is stunning!!! Seriously, she has it!
my stomach isn’t that flat to begin with, let alone after i have a baby. OY is right, trent!
If I had a nanny, a nutritionist, a personal trainer and being ridonkulously skinny was my career, I could probably have looked that good a couple months after birth, too. Good for her, though, for looking that good, but it gives most women a completely unrealistic ideal.
I read somewhere that if you work out while pregnant(and if you worked out before getting pregnant) that you can mostly likely regain your figure faster after pregnancy then those who did not do any type of exercise during their pregnancy.
Also, this interview actually made me like her more then before. She is really beautiful.
Uh — gained 30 pounds while preggers…where? That pic certainly doesnt look like it.
I think we should keep in mind that there are nannies and trainers and stylists and make-up artists and countless other “helpers” behind this photo shoot. Yes, she is beautiful, but it takes a village ;-)
I wonder if they photoshopped these? I’d love to think that she really looked like that 6 weeks after childbirth, but then again I’d love for new moms who don’t look like that to not have unreasonable expectations about how their bodies “should” bounce back…
Supermodels are those 1% of people blessed with certain genetic disposition or the ability to keep unnaturally slender figures. I really cannot say this is an issue of Vogue I’ll hold up there as a centerpiece, even though I do love my fashion mags, following couture and the genius of designers much as the next girl or guy. Gisele is _not_ the average mother. She was tiny to begin with, and at her multimillion dollar salary she has access to vast resources beyond what the majority of normal women do. It’s not about just doing kung fu and yoga up to the last weeks of your pregnancy to stay thin, and eating specialty foods. Otherwise we’d all be models. It is highly unrealistic to think that is the case. Earth mother? Try again. Earth mothers have hips and boobs and a slightly rounded stomach like the healthy, normal members of society. ;)
@ Lys, I couldn’t agree more :)
she lost me at ” I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals.”
i think it’s really condescending of her to say that ppl get pregnant and “turn into garbage disposals.” not everyone that gains more than her and takes longer to lose it treats their bodies like shit. it sounds like she takes her genetics for granted and this makes her sound like a rich, spoiled woman. UGH.
Wow these pics are beautiful and Trent I have been meaning to post this but I LOVE your website I found it after growing tired of the other blogs you are fair on your reporting and a joy to read every day keep up the good work :)
Her comment about turning into a garbage disposal is true though. Studies show that you only need to consume 300 extra calories a day when you are pregnant, not eat twice as much as you usually do and a lot of women just pig out.
Tracy, how many kids do you have ? Women don’t pig out, they HAVE to eat for two. You know, that foetus baby thing inside ? Gotta feed him. Plus think about the hormones.
Anyway, she looks great, good for her, but I felt bad too after reading that. Mind you: I was tiny before getting pregnant, I gained weight, gave birth and it took me 5 months to get back to tiny. But then I don’t have a village to take care of me ;)
She is simply amazing. No other word for it!
Photoshopped to DEATH…
i think giselle meant that women use being pregnant as an excuse to eat more food then they ordinarily would, or they eat more junk and use “pregnancy cravings” as an excuse .. kate hudson used to say she did that while she was pregnant, and many women do this, it’s true.
.
giselle may have had personal trainers, makeup artists and what not, but admit it – she’s amazing looking without those too.
Tracy is right, you only need so many extra calories while pregnant. Although, I have to admit, while I ate like that for my first two pregnancies, I indulged in my last. My baby is 11 weeks now, and I still need to drop 12lbs.
Gisele also had a completely natural birth, which I had with my first two, I ended up with a c-section with my third, and it’s MUCH easier getting back into shape after a nartural.
