Earlier this week we learned which celebs will be competing on the upcoming 10th season of Dancing with the Stars — including the AMAZING Shannen Doherty — and today we get to see the celeb contestants’ paired up promo photos each with their professional dancing partners:
“Dancing With The Stars” has slots to fill. Every season, they try to make it seem like they’re choosing “stars” based on their immediate relevance and for variety, but every season, you’re reminded that they have a limited number of types who are cast, and the new season, announced during Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelor,” is no different. The most controversial name is Kate Gosselin. She’s there to be the polarizing one. Like Tom DeLay, Denise Richards, and Kim Kardashian before her, Kate is there strictly because some people will recoil at the sight of her. Her dancing ability is a closed book for the moment, and notoriety is unlikely to get her to the final stages of the competition, but her name recognition should keep her safe in the opening rounds. The “Dancing” raid of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” dressing rooms of the past continues with the appearance of Shannen Doherty. Doherty must surely be the Moby-Dick for producers who have spent previous seasons settling for her onetime co-stars Ian Ziering and Jennie Garth. Her reputation as a buster of chops precedes her, much as distant rumbling precedes an invasion by Godzilla, so many will tune in to see whether she can be made to tango properly or will simply bite off the head of her partner. (She will also undoubtedly hope to outlast her long-ago ex-husband Ashley Hamilton, who lasted three days on the show last season.)
OMG … Kate Gosselin vs. Shannen Doherty … only on reality TV, folks … OY! As I mentioned before, I don’t watch DWTS but now that they’ve cast Shannen for the new season, well, I’m gonna hafta watch my girl kick ass now won’t I? I hope that you are not being serious about your feelings about Shannen Doherty because, aside from the fact that she has little talent and has behaved liked a jerk through most of her life, it is really sad to see a gay man support a Republican who appeared at the same nutwing-fest in 1992 where Pat Buchanan and others railed against “homosexuals” and who has herself said, “I’m from the South. I’m a Southern Baptist. I have a conservative point of view. I’m a Republican.”
@Patric — Look, hating Republicans is not going to accomplish anything. Some of my close loved ones are Republicans from the South. DWTS isn’t all that serious. Would I vote Shannen for President of the US? No. For DWTS winner, I think yes!

Its crazy how people view the south look at the numbers people not everyone in the south are Republicans.In the state of Alabama if you look at the popular vote in the last election it was real close.Its not the 1960 anymore and they will probably pass the rights for Gays to marry before California.

@Patric If you started culling your life based upon who does or does not actively support or actively protests re: “homosexuals” – you will miss the opportunity of being open to dialog on the subject – and if you can’t communicate, you can’t change people’s minds.

Trent! I love your outlook on things!! :) I happen to live in the south currently, though I am not from here. I am not a southern baptist but i do affiliate myself with the Republican party. However, I do not agree with ALL that they stand for. I strongly agree in Gay marriage and hope and pray that our country will continue to make the neccessary steps toward equality! I just wish they’d hurry up!!! :)
I love love love Chad Ochocinco. I hate Dancing, but will probably watch just to see what kind of antics he pulls. But, realistically, I believe Evan will win.

@Patric: I’m gay AND a Republican, and I freaking adore La Doherty. The difference between Republicans and Democrats is a lot more than just one issue, and there are people on BOTH sides fighting for that one issue. :P
I wonder what Neil Armstrong has to say about Buzz Aldrin on DWTS. Buzz himself probably said, “Second on the moon but first on DWTS!”
