Bryson Bryant, Son Of ‘Atlanta Housewife’ NeNe Leakes, Busted!
Holmes got arrested for drug possession

It is my sad duty to pass along the news that NeNe Leake‘s 20-year old son Bryson Bryant, who each have been featured on the Bravo TV series The Real Housewives of Atlanta, got himself arrested on charges of drug possession in Atlanta, GA this week. In the immortal words of RHOA’s self-proclaimed divo Dwight EubanksHow dreadful! Here is Bryson‘s dreadful mug shot and the deets surrounding his arrest:

The son of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast member Nene Leakes is facing a different kind of reality following his arrest on drug possession charges. Channel 2 Action News has learned that Bryson Bryant, 20, was taken into custody on March 7 while visiting another inmate at the Gwinnett County Jail. Authorities told Channel 2 that Bryant had marijuana in his possession while visiting the inmate. Deputies said they made the discovery during Bryant’s arrest at the jail following a warrant check. Authorities said it is common practice to conduct a warrant check on people visiting inmates. While undergoing a warrant check, authorities said a hit came back stating that Bryant failed to appear in court for a traffic citation. Authorities said they stumbled across the pot in Bryant’s possession while taking him into custody. Bryant was charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and failure to appear, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. He was released from jail Wednesday after posting bond.

Lord, how sad. It’s such a shame that someone so young would choose to ruin his future with an arrest like this at such an early age. Bryson seemed like a smart kid … I guess he wasn’t really that smart after all. NeNe has issued a statement about her son’s arrest — read it in full after the jump …

“Like any parent, I am disappointed with the actions and arrest of my son, Bryson. Certainly, my husband and I will deal with this family issue in a private manner. My son is not the first young adult to experiment with marijuana, and he certainly won’t be the last. Still, as parents, this is a chance for us to have an open dialogue with him about the dangers of any substance abuse. I realize as a parent that my job is never done. And, as I’ve tweeted, tough love was in order. Still, I ask that you respect our privacy during this trying time.”

Don’t you feel that this statement reads exactly as if NeNe wrote it herself? HMMMM. In any event, she’s right … her son is not the first kid to get busted for marijuana possession and he will not be the last. I just think it really sucks that he now has a drug possession arrest on his criminal record. Shame :(

Oh, get over it. Trent! You are acting as if possessing pot is the worst thing this kid could do and that this mistake was SO GRAVE that his short life has now been ruined. You’re either sorely out of touch, pious, or just plain alarmist. NeNe was right, this isn’t the end of the world, 20 year old’s everywhere smoke pot without consequences, and [my words, not hers] the only problem here was that he got caught.

You’re getting stale, my friend, lighten up with the harsh judgments such as this and stick to critiquing Lindsay’s leggings.

    • @Kristin — My comments were not a reflection of marijuana use (in fact, my personal comments never mentioned any judgment of his marijuana use) … my point is that the kid, at 20, now has an arrest record.

  2. Tricia says:

Wow Kristin. Not sure why you are so upset with Trent? He is right – as someone who spends their career trying to help juvenile offenders reenter society and get jobs, I can tell you having an arrest on your record is a tough thing to overcome. It is years before you can get it expunged and many job applications ask about it and employers “google” you. So, he is right, it sucks that this is now on his record. Also, how smart was it to take marijuana into a jail? At the least, someone needs to talk to him about his risk-taking decisions. Regardless of if you think pot is okay or not (I really am not so against it) – it is not a good idea to take an illegal substance into a secure facility!

I love the hypocrisy of “reality stars”. They are famous for no real reason and have no talent and want everyone to watch their every move. The minute one of them gets in trouble they want everyone to respect their privacy. They gave up their right to privacy when they sign the dotted line and chose to let strangers in their lives.

  5. B says:

I ask…how stupid do you have to be to walk into prison with an illegal substance on you? I mean….seriously!

  6. Oscar in Miami Beach says:

Come on,what are you guys talking about?.This hood will simply get a slap in the wrist and send home to do more drugs. It is the nature of the beast in this USA that the spawn of celebrities have to do something so aweful but so aweful that needs punishment.Otherwise they get away with murder.Besides he has his race on his side.Reeeealy guys come down to earth and face reality. He is not the first and for the time being will probably will not be the last.Nevertheless is shameful.

  7. Angela says:

@B I agree, it was a bad call on his part. The choice indicates to me a likelihood that this young man is so used to having Marijuana in his pocket that it didn’t even cross his mind to dump it. I think that his mother revealed too much in her statement, he has some Constitutional legal defenses that might get this charge and/or future possible conviction from sticking. For those reasons, she needs to either hire a good attorney to cleanse her statements before press, or just not say anything about it at all. The case is NOT about her, it is about him, and his best interest should be a higher priority than her feelings, needs, or tweets at this point. Now is not the time to tweet, tweet after the case is ” Res Judicata”…,

My issues is not that you seemed to take a strong stand against marijuana use and, Tricia, I am not arguing that bringing an illegal substance into a secure facility was stupid thing to do–it is, undoubtedly. but, Trent, your post seemed to me to be pious and dripping with unnecessary judgment: He’s 20, Google-records or not, kids screw up, this isn’t the end of the world and, he very well could end up just fine. Report the gossip but the sensationalism was reaching on this one.

  9. uptownboy says:

Ha. He is on the wrong path. Just got busted again with weapons charge. So he isn’t the first kid and the last…but is it still right. No. Maybe you optimists should be on the look out for this kid.

  10. Nene Leaks says:

Omg weed. Hay guys lets get upset about weed.

Oscar, you are a racist and dumb and uptight so you probably should leave Miami Beach and move back to Alabama.

    Weed,
