Firstly, I have to say that I am not a Ben Folds fan. While I can appreciate that the guy is talented, his music isn’t really my thing. That being said, Ben Folds gave a performance at the Fillmore in Charlotte, NC last night that was absolutely BRILLIANT! Folds decided to play an improvised song while chatting on Chatroulette (which is a new Internet game where users can randomly videochat with people all around the world). He changed up the song every time he chatted with a new user … live in front of his concert audience. Trust me, you gotta see this amazing video:

I can only imagine what the users who randomly came about the fact that they were chatting with Ben Folds and HIS ENTIRE CONCERT AUDIENCE but, as you can see in the video above, some of them were good sports about it. This is just a brilliant video. Fan or not, I think this vid can be absolutely enjoyed by all. Love it!!

Last Wednesday we learned that Buffyverse album James Marsters has joined the cast of the revamped CBS TV series Hawaii Five-0 as the arch villain in the pilot episode and today we get to meet the rest of the cast of Five-0. Alex O’Loughlin plays the lead character Steve McGarrett while Scott Caan plays his faithful partner Danny Danno Williams (who will be doing all of the “booking” on the show). Lost alum Daniel Dae Kim has been cast as Detective Chin Ho Kelly and Battlestar Galactica‘s Grace Park will play Kono Kalakaua. As I said before, I vaguely remember this show when it was on the air in re-runs when I was little but I somehow doubt this new version will resemble the original series in any way but the character names. I have to say that I like this cast tho … this group of actors could be the right formula for CBS to make a hit out of this show again. Yesterday was the Vernal Equinox which officially ushers in the Spring season and I ended up spending most of the day indoors. I meant to get out of the house so I could soak up some of the beautiful sun but I got caught up doing things around the house and, well, the day got away from me. David and I did go out last night to meet up with our friend Josh for dinner at a wine bar called Tasca:

Considering how much David and Josh like wine, it’s no wonder their influence has started to rub off on me ;) We had a really nice time together with a very interesting and spirited conversation. ‘Twas fun, ’twas fun.

Today, I am DEFFO getting out of the house to enjoy the beautiful Springtime weather. Sundays were made for brunch … wee!! I hope all y’all are having a fantastic weekend!

Now that Spring has officially sprung we can look forward to sunny and very colorful days ahead. But, before we get too ahead of ourselves, I think we can pause for a moment to appreciate the simple beauty of a black & white photograph. Holfeld really captures Gough‘s smoldering good looks, don’t you think? It’s a good thing that he’s got a bicep muscle like a boulder otherwise we might not be able to read his tattoo so easily. Aussie hunk Sam Worthington, who starred in Avatar and will portray Greek hero Perseus in the upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine. This coverstory is timed perfectly with the release of his new film, due out next month, and gives the US audience a better understanding of this boy from Oz:

On finding interviews excruciating: I’m still a very boisterous young man. And I swear a bit more than I should. So I’m learning to temper it, you know?”

On his standard-issue Aussie boyhood: “I’m not a great fan of people who say they put a sheet up in the backyard when they were 7 and entertained all the neighbors. When I was 7, I thought I was a fucking fire truck.”

On why he loves living in hotel rooms: “”I like room service. They put a chocolate on my pillow. It’s kinda cool.”

On his work ethic: “”Well, I demand a lot,” he says, then backtracks, not wanting to position himself as some kind of diva. “I demand excellence in myself. I’m up front and quite outspoken, but I’ll give you everything.”

This Details coverstory does give the reader a better sense of Sam Worthington, the man, but the info comes primarily from the people he’s worked with. The primary focus of the piece is on what others (like James Cameron, McG, Zoe Saldana and more) think of him rather than from responses he gives to the interviewer. It’s a great read. Superstar DJ Samantha Ronson and American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert were the best of buds in London, England last night where the two were spotted in close company together. Sam had a DJ gig at a club called Chinawhite and Glambert was in town doing a bit of promo … the BFFs apparently ran into one another and decided to make a night of it:

I have to say, these two strike me as unlikely friends but I bet they had a great time together last night. You can kinda sorta tell that Sam was having fun because she’s not quite as scowly as she usually looks in photos ;) While I may not be a fan of Glambert‘s music, I suspect he’s a fun guy to hang around with. It’s unknown of these two will continue to hang out together in the future but I understand they had a blast together last night. Who knows, mebbe a new celebrity couple (of friends, that is) is born.

Shannen Doherty, former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed and NEW castmember on the 10th season of Dancing with the Stars, was a guest on Lopez Tonight last week wherein she appeared to promote the upcoming season of DWTS. For some strange reason, I totally missed seeing her on the show the night it aired but finally got to see her interview online this weekend … and what a great interview it was!

Shannen explains in this interview why she decided to finally agree to appear on Dancing with the Stars … and it’s a heartfelt story that really shows what a sweetheart she truly is underneath that tough exterior. Shannen revealed that her father suffered his 9th stroke that left him almost totally incapacitated. Because he is such a fan of the show, she decided to appear on the show to inspire her father to work towards recovery. By her attempt to conquer her fear of public audiences, she hopes to inspire her father to work especially hard to recover from his latest stroke. Britney Spears continued her walking tour of SoCal yesterday by stepping out again with her agent/beau Jason Trawick … but this time, she brought along her young’ns as well. Brit Brit got all dolled up in a sexy dress while her little boys decided to wear their favorite Spider-Man costumes:

As much as I love seeing our dear Britney rockin’ the Daisy Duke shorty shorts, I think she looks so much better when she’s wearing sexy dresses like this. She’s been on the move all week long, it seems. I’m starting to become accustomed to her daily excursions on the town. I wonder where she’ll pop up tomorrow.

Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who is currently France doing promo work for the Twilight films, went on a special date yesterday with a very lucky fan. Lautner was the grand prize for a contest in France where the winner was able to enjoy an afternoon date on the Seine river with him. Here are pics of Taylor on a riverboat in Paris for his date with his fan:

I’m not certain if the lady next to him in the last pic is his fan date or not but I’m certain whoever she is, she had a great time floating down the romantic River Seine with the object of her affection. This sounds like an amazing contest … one that should NEVER be offered here in the US because I fear for poor Tay Tay‘s safety. He’s a good sport tho … what a nice guy.
