"I'm like the coolest guy in the world. I've been on the cover of GQ!"
Shia LaBeouf Does ‘GQ’ Magazine

Shia LaBeouf, star of the upcoming sequel film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (which is a terrible name, btw), is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of GQ magazine modeling a few swanky suits. Here is our first look at Shia‘s GQ coverphoto and some excerpts from his accompanying interview:

On the Wall Street trading floors where he went to learn the banking ropes: “I thought my life was pretty wild. I’m Richie Rich. I land in New York, secretly thinking I’m like the coolest guy in the world. I’ve been on the cover of GQ! But then I met these guys, and it’s humbling. It’s the most sex-drugs-and-rock-’n'-roll atmosphere that exists on the planet. I was hanging out with some wild human beings.”

On getting past the stereotypes of Wall Street traders: “It’s easy to villainize these guys with the big paychecks,” he says. “But they’re not all bad. I’m a pretty left-wing character, and I come from whatever collar is lower than blue. But meeting these guys really opened my mind a lot. I’ve never seen people with more drive and determination in my life.”

On his relationship with co-star and girlfriend Carey Mulligan: “I never really had anything in my life that was off-limits,” he says, visibly trying to control his natural inclination to share, to think out loud, to let his voice run free. “But with this, just out of respect, I just don’t want to fuck around. She’s an unbelievably thought-provoking actress, the most talented actress I’ve ever met in my life, by leaps and bounds. Neither one of us are fame whores. It works out. It’s not like we’re the premiere couple; we’re not the red-carpet king and queen.”

After the jump, check out a few photos from Shia‘s GQ photospread and find out what Shia has to say about his much-publicized car accident, working with director Oliver Stone and Wall Street co-star Michael Douglas‘s son who was arrested on drug charges …

PLEASE LET IT BE SO!!!
Is Channing Tatum Going To Be Captain America?

Earlier today we learned that Ryan Phillippe is in the running to play Captain America in the planned big screen adaptation of the comic book hero and right now we learn that Hottie McHotster Channing Tatum is also up for the role! Entertainment Weekly breaks down which actors are vying for the role of Capt. America but I’m telling you right now, I’m putting all of my support behind Channing Tatum:

Marvel Studios’ search continues for the perfect actor to don the red, white, and blue suit and spread American ideals in the big-screen adaptation of Captain America. Today’s rumor mill throws G.I. Joe’s Channing Tatum into a mix of 20-something-year-olds that include the known, Ryan Phillippe, Fantastic Four’s Chris Evans; the semi-known, Cloverfield’s Mike Vogel, Gossip Girl’s Sebastian Stan; and the unknown, Young and the Restless’s Wilson Bethel. The studio held lengthy screen tests last weekend for at least four of those actors (Hedlund has not yet screen-tested, though sources believe he is the studio’s first choice), and Marvel is expected to have a decision soon. In the meantime, we’ve got a few plot details to share. Sources tell EW that Captain America, which is set to begin filming in June for a release next summer, will be shot on location in London as the Joe Johnston-helmed movie will feature a stylized 1940s WWII backdrop. And while Cap won’t be fighting Hitler as he did in the very first Captain America comic book, he will battle Red Skull, Hitler’s right-hand man. Probably the biggest challenge with Marvel’s casting challenge is not the Captain America movie, but what comes next. Marvel’s plans include an Avengers film that will bow in summer 2012. And anyone familiar with Marvel lore knows that Captain America is a father figure to the rest of the Avengers. That means Marvel’s casting choice for Cap must be someone who can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Samuel Jackson’s Nick Fury, and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, to name a few. “They’re casting two franchises here,” said a source close to the production. “This is no easy feat.”

Channing can do it! He can carry this film and play the integral role in The Avengers movie! While I understand that a lot is riding on the perfect casting, Channing Tatum has proven that he can carry a film at the box office and he’s already got the action hero cred to play a superhero! I’m not a huge Captain America fan (but I did love the 1979 TV movie based on the hero) but I can deffo get behind the film if Channing takes the lead. What do y’all think … who do YOU think should be cast as Captain America?

The Stooges, ABBA, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff & the Hollies are inducted
Meet The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Class Of 2010

Last September we learned which Rock and Roll musicians were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and last night, in a lavish concert/ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC, NY rockers like Iggy Pop and The Stooges, Genesis, The Hollies and … ABBA … were inducted as the 2010 Class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Here are a few photos from last night’s ceremony and some deets from the event:

It opened with a Phish show, nearly exploded into a (very well-heeled) proto-punk riot, got giddy on a fix of sunshiny Swedish pop, and finally wrapped up with a ’50′s-tinged tribute. It was the 25th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, back in NYC after a one-year sojourn in Cleveland (where the titular hall actually exists). And while it may have been lacking the star power of previous years’ ceremonies — Eminem and Metallica in 2009, Madonna and Justin Timberlake in ’08 — it certainly showcased the breadth and depth of this thing we call rock music. ABBA, Genesis, the Stooges, Jimmy Cliff and the Hollies were the performers that headlined the 2010 class, inducted into the hall by the likes of the Bee Gees’ Barry and Robin Gibb and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong. Variety was the theme of the night, expressed in the wide range of performances and the revered tones of the inductors, which ranged from genuinely geeky (Phish’s Trey Anastasio, who inducted Genesis and spoke at length about the group’s “seven-note guitar lines” and the technical prowess of their 1973 album Selling England by the Pound) to gleefully amped (Armstrong swore a whole lot as he inducted the Stooges). The show began with Phish running through Genesis’s proggy “Watchers of the Sky,” then Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford took the stage to accept their award, thanking Anastasio for his “really convincing argument” about the oft-derided band’s legacy. Original singer Peter Gabriel wasn’t there because he was “rehearsing for an orchestral tour,” according to Collins. Phish then played a second Genesis tune, “No Reply at All.” Up next were the Stooges, long denied a slot in the hall despite their obvious influences on everything from punk to metal, and they more than made up for lost time. First, Armstrong — who was “very excited and nervous as hell” to be inducting them — strode to the podium and launched into a heartfelt speech that praised the band’s commitment to “blood and guts, sex and drugs … peanut butter and poetry.” The Green Day frontman rattled off basically every band the Stooges had ever influenced, a list that included Nirvana, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Queens of the Stone Age “and my fucking band too.” “It is my honor to induct into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — and it’s about fucking time — the Stooges!” Armstrong exclaimed. Stooge main man Iggy Pop strutted onto the stage and — still wearing a shirt — gave the tuxedoed crowd a double middle-finger salute, followed by a genuinely touching speech that mentioned late members Dave Alexander and Ron Asheton, shouted out “all the poor people who actually started rock and roll” and concluded with a thanks to all his fans for giving the band “a second act,” getting choked up as he said it. Pop turned the mic over to fellow Stooges James Williamson and Ron’s brother Scott and began unbuttoning his white dress shirt as they spoke. He then stormed off to the stage, and, aided by bassist Mike Watt and tenor sax skronker Steve Mackay, ripped through a pair of the Stooges’ burners — “Search and Destroy” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog” — the latter of which saw Iggy prowl the front row of the audience, belt out the chorus under the watchful gaze of Dr. Oz (for real), then invite anyone and everyone onstage. Green Day and members of Pearl Jam gleefully obliged, as did a few fairly radical men and women in their formal wear. Back in the press room, Iggy explained his impromptu invasion thusly: “Well, you can’t really stage-dive in a place like this.” Legendary record exec David Geffen and British rock act the Hollies were inducted next, followed by Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff (who was lovingly introduced by Wyclef Jean) and then, in perhaps the night’s most anticipated moment, globally revered Swedish pop quartet ABBA, who hadn’t performed together in public in nearly 25 years. Unfortunately, only half of the group’s members — Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson (who were married once upon a time) — showed up to accept their trophies from the Gibbs. They seemed touched by the honor, and Andersson took to the piano to perform one of the group’s most masterful hits, “The Winner Takes It All,” with country star Faith Hill on vocals.

LOL … yes, it really does sound like a very eclectic night of music celebration. While some are saying that ABBA doesn’t belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I think it’s wise of the Rock Hall to induct musicians like ABBA who’s influence may not be necessarily text book “rock” but rather has influenced other rock musicians who followed after. Madonna is not a rock musician and yet, she deffo belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In any event … I’m so happy that my boys from Detroit, The Stooges, finally made it into the Rock Hall. They are true rock pioneers and their induction is LONG overdue. Congrats to this year’s class of inductees!! I wonder who’ll make the cut next year.

The late child star is memorialized in a small Toronto service
A Final Farewell To Corey Haim

Last Wednesday we learned the sad news that former child star Corey Haim passed away at the all-too-young age of 38 and just yesterday we learned from Haim‘s mother that his cause of death *may* not be drug-related after all. Earlier today, Corey Haim was memorialized in a semi-private funeral in Toronto, Ontario where he, too, has been laid to rest:

Friends and family filled a Thornhill memorial chapel to capacity Tuesday for the funeral of actor Corey Haim, who died last week after years of drug addiction. The service was “very sad but with a lot of laughter,” said Maytal Kotler, a second cousin of Corey Feldman, who co-starred with Haim in the reality show The Two Coreys. Kotler said the Steeles Memorial Chapel was jammed with more than 200 people. Fans stood quietly outside on the chapel lawn in the late morning sunshine. Among them was Jennifer Matton, 35, who finished her shift as an emergency room nurse in Philadelphia and drove eight hours to Toronto to honour Haim. “I think I’m his number one fan,” she said. “I’ve loved him since I was 13. I’ve never done anything like this before, but when I found out he died, I was very sad.” Matton said she has four children and “a very understanding husband.” A long funeral cortege snaked out of the chapel grounds after the 45-minute service under the protection of police in seven patrol cars. Heather Leikan, 31, who met Haim and his mother in Toronto in 2001, said before the service she had come to pay her respects. “He made nothing a secret but he also didn’t have anything to apologize for,” she said. Haim, 38, shot to fame as a teen heartthrob in the 1980s movies License to Drive and The Lost Boys. He later struggled with well-publicized drug addiction and declared bankruptcy in 1997. His mother, Judy Haim, had been quoted on the Access Hollywood website as saying the city of Toronto would be “covering” the funeral costs of the Toronto-born and raised actor, who died Wednesday in Burbank, Calif., with an enlarged heart. A notice on a Haim fan MySpace page from Saturday said: “It appears that we may now have raised enough money to cover all the expenses of Corey’s funeral! Many thanks to all who donated!” Michael Kronick, who runs the Startifacts celebrity auction website, told the Star on Sunday that he would give Haim’s mother $20,000 as a gift to help with expenses from her son’s death. Feldman said Sunday he wouldn’t go to the funeral out of respect for the family’s wishes. “In the days following my best friend Corey Haim’s death, I have spent much time with his mother Judy, who has always been like a mother to me,” Feldman said in a statement. “I would love nothing more than to be by her side at Corey’s funeral, however due to their strong religious beliefs, and need for privacy, the family has decided to make Corey’s funeral on Tuesday a small, private affair.” Feldman said he will help plan a public memorial in L.A.

And so … Corey Haim is now resting in eternal slumber. It’s still very sad to think that he is gone from this world but at least his closest family and friends were able to say their final goodbyes today. It’s odd that Haim‘s BFF Corey Feldman wasn’t at the funeral today, despite his statement that he didn’t want to intrude on this “private” funeral … but his plans for a public memorial service next month will very likely be good for the large number of Haim‘s fans who are looking for a bit of closure. It is my sincere hope that Haim‘s family is able to find some solace in his memory today … and that Corey himself will finally be able to rest in peace.

The TV Guide
YOU BETTA WORK-OUT

Happy news to report today … my dear friend Darion has just launched a new blog called Hollywood Gym People which is based on the AMAZINGLY funny gym tweets he often shares on Twitter. With perfect comic timing, Darion has been entertaining folks on Twitter with his pithy and sometimes scathing commentary from his local gym. Now, Darion will be sharing the fun with the world at large on HollywoodGymPeople.com

Check out his site … I think you’ll love it :)

Last night was a pretty chill night … I spent much of the evening driving around running errands, happily smelling the flowery night air. Spring is in full effect here in LA … it’s wonderful! David and I settled down last night with a new friend:

I picked up this lovely bottle of Coppola Wine at World Market and, let me tell you, it went down real easy. We enjoyed it very much … so much so that we have decided to stock up :)

No plans for today just yet … we’re trying to figure out our plans for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow … it’s so sunny and warm today, tho, I’m sure we’ll think of something fun to do :)

Meet Sparks
‘Toy Story 3’ Reveals Yet Another New Character

Earlier this month we met a new batch of cute characters that will be featured in the upcoming sequel film Toy Story 3 and just last week we met another. Today we get to meet yet another new Toy Story character … this one named Sparks:

Sparks will fly – literally – during electrifying playtimes with your new robot friend Sparks! This retro-inspired toy has flashing red LED eyes and a blaster cavity that actually spits out real sparks when he’s rolled along on his sturdy rubber wheels. Sparks also sports telescoping arms with working pincers, and an elevator action that raises his entire body to new heights. Sparking action completely child-safe. Requires two AA batteries (not included).

Dang! How many new characters are gonna be featured in TS3? As I understand it, the little boy in the movie will be all grown up and will be getting rid of his toys … and yet, we’re gonna be meeting a bunch of new toys. HMMM. Alls I know is I can’t wait to see these cute little guys on the big screen — and in 3D!! I’m not sure if we’ll be meeting any other new characters in the weeks to come but Toy Story 3 doesn’t open until June. Do YOU think we’ll be meeting new toys?

"I just don’t want that fear in my stomach to be a part of my life"
Anderson Cooper Does ‘Outside’ Magazine

Anderson Cooper, the brave CNN anchor who recently put himself in harm’s way to rescue a small boy in Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake they suffered back in January, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Outside magazine. Here is our first look at the silver fox’s Outside coverphoto and some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

On overcoming fear: “I don’t believe you should be ruled by fear in anything in life. I don’t like anything that scares me, I prefer to face it head-on and get over it. Anyone who says they’re not scared is a fool or a liar or both. I just don’t want that fear in my stomach to be a part of my life, so I work to eliminate it.”

On skydiving being senseless: “I have no interest in jumping out of an airplane, or any of the things people do for thrills to push the limit and all that. To me, that seems foolish. There’s no point. If people are suffering in a place, to me, it’s not a question of whether I’m going to go or not. It’s a question of how fast can I get there.”

On springing into action while in Haiti: “You suddenly find yourself in a situation where, you say … what do you do? There are some journalism purists who say that you do nothing, that you just watch and report, and I certainly understand that. But in the case of a little boy who got hit in the head with a cement block, no one was helping him. He couldn’t get up. … Blood was pouring from his head. It was a split second decision to take him out of the situation.”

How much do I love Anderson Cooper? He is THE best. I 100% agree with him on the senselessness of skydiving. I was coerced into jumping my dumb ass out of a plane a few years ago and it was the single most terrifying thing I’ve ever done. I will never, ever do it again nor would I ever encourage anyone else to do so. I love that Anderson has got my back on this :) Some of you Cooper aficionados may recall that he previously graced the cover of Outside magazine back in March 2008 … so clearly, he’s a fan of the publication. I’m pretty sure there are a few Coop fans out there who might enjoy this issue of Outside … I know I will :)
